“POOR PHONE SERVICE”

★★★☆☆

written by on 07/12/2014

YOU CAN'T PHONE YOUR LOCAL BRANCH WHICH IS VERY INCONVENIENT TO SAY THE LEAST.

“New phone banking system”

★★★☆☆

written by on 15/08/2013

The new and supposedly improved, easier to use phone banking system from RBS is terrible. I had to go through more menus, and wait longer to speak to a person even though there was no possible way of doing what I wanted without speaking to someone directly. I wanted to make a transfer to a new third party account. It was like pulling teeth. It may be easier for them as so much more if it is automated, but I want to phone and speak to a person! What has happened to personal banking. Starting to wonder what other banks are like...

“branch good - bosses bad”

★★★☆☆

written by on 24/05/2012

I still feel incredibly angry about the misery RBS and others have caused- and they still seem not to have got the point! However, at branch level, I have always found staff pleasant and transactions going smoothly. The only thing I object to is the pressure to have reviews or take out royalties type accounts. If the bosses are insisting on their staff doing the hard sell, it just spoils staff / customer relations. Maybe they will get a little in the short term from pressurised customers but they will lose a lot more in customer satisfaction.

“If you're a RBS customer then there is no reason not...”

★★★★☆

written by jerryj on 17/02/2008

If you're a RBS customer then there is no reason not to use this service. Quick, friendly, reasonably intelligent staff who actually can think (some call centres must employ very low IQ people) can make UK payments without fuss. Although you can't make overseas payments (even though this is possible if you are a RBS International customer in Jersey ! so why can't they link the systems?). Can't pass on instructions to my branch. Sometimes I'd like them to sort out something that requires a call to my local branch.

It depends on the job applied for. If you have a criminal record and don't declare it even though you've been asked and they find out at later date you could be dismissed for lying on application form. You should declare if they ask.
