I never write reviews, but today's service by the bank requires one. I phoned from abroad regarding an admin problem with my account. It was resolved promptly and without me asking, they have credited my account £50 for having to deal with this during a holiday plus £15 to cover the long distance phone costs. The agent did an exceptional job at treating me well and making me glad that I bank with Bank of Scotland.

I recently Ordered too many of one thing. the bank didn't authorize this payment and phoned me up. i explained the problem and the polite, friendly helper soon fixed the problem for me. I am very impressed with the service as i have had problems with other banks before. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

So far so good! everything from the fantastic staff to the advice has been brilliant! We had lived overseas for 13 years, on our return to the UK, no-one would entertain opening a bank account for us despite the 6 figure sum we had to deposit. However BOS were more than willing to accomodate us and even provide us with a mortgage, again, no other bank was willing to do this, as we had lost our top rated credit rating having left the country for such a long period of time. I have alot of faith in this particular branch of the bank, and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. We are always greeted with a smile, a friendly face and sound advice, they work to the letter of the banking body and have the customers best interests at heart. Keep up the good work Peebles branch - I recommend you whenever possible!

Fascinating. My father died in January 2009, and have since tried to access information regarding an account through the Halifax Bereavement Centre. For 12 months the Halifax have refused to give any information on this account, although I am a executor of my fathers will.
The transactions in this account, which were stumbled on accidentally, are the key to a 3rd party fraud which involves several 100 thousand pounds.

The halifax have refused to disclose any information in relation to this matter although they are aware of the probable fraud. It would appear that because of their lack of duty of care in relation to my father, their major concern is one of litigation. Not really sure who is worse; the alleged fraudster or the Halifax Bank
