Lovely site had a lovely time with my girls photos are very good ,but the swimming pool and caravan could of done with a revamp, swimming pool had areas which needed a good clean also swimming pool is not suitable if you have disabilities evening entertainment was good would also advise you to obtain a activities pass before coming as lots of activities you need to pay extra for also go karts really should have a track as I got knocked over by a 7 to 8 year old on one with no parents watching I wouldn't let mine use them without supervision at all times but they must have paid to let him use the go kart as parents need to sign and pay before they use it haven may need to do a health and safety review on go karts and follow up accident reports

I went to Craig Tara 2 Weeks ago after being there in the past. I thought that the park may have changed over that time but there was not much difference from the previous year. We had to wait in a very large cue to get our keys, passes and a camp Map. We were in the cue for around 15 Mins but we got there in the end.Our caravan was in Stirling View and was very good quality considering it was a superior. There was only 4 off us and this was a 6 person caravan so it was very spacious. At night time there was entertainment in the main complex. In the Mash And Barrel there was also live events but they were for over 18 only so many children were left on there own without there parents. In the Bonga Wonga I got the impression that it was more for the younger generation as it was very childish. We went into the newly refurbished Live Lounge where the entertainment suited some of the older people. There was a very good Take That tribute act on our first night. During the day there are alot off different activities but most of them are outdoor. So if your going your going to need some nice dry weather. There is only a few indoor activities and the main one being the amusement arcade.(If your going in there you need to be rich). A bad point about Craig Tara that you can hear all the children in the near caravans running up and down all day which can get very annoying if your trying to sleep later on in the night!! I would say that my holiday at Craig Tara was a very average holiday but im going back on Friday with more of my family so I will have to see what happens.

i dont know where u get the idea the live lounge wasnt finished on the 25 march i am a owner and on the 12 of march it was unvieled to all owners the place was spotless and everything i saw was top shape my husband and i would be the first to complain if anything wasnt up to standard i think people on this site just like to moan also i used to clean in craig tara and all cleaners work to a checklist and the vans are checked before anyone gets the keys

Accommodation - Was fantastic, I was there with my wife and two kids and we had more than enough room in the caravan. It was clean and well maintained.
Park - Swimming pool was good enough for the kids etc, but as a spectator - the area where you have to sit was poorly kept and there was a constant leaking from various parts of the ceiling.
Night/Day time shows - These were great for the kids and lets face it, that's who you are there for. The panto was fab!
Overall we had a great time, we took food for dinner/lunch with us to have in the caravan so all we really paid for was treats for the kids and money for the amusements.
Thanks :)

just back from c.t every thing was fine until some muppet decided to set fire to the toilets in the atlantic showbar caused quite a bit of damage so this ment that everyone was in the one venue i belive that the toilets have been re opened acording to the people at main reception. they think it was someone who was smoking in the toilet that caused it apart from this the holiday was ok but quite exspensive in the shops and the bar.the food in turnberry gardens was reasonably priced and you could eat as much as you wanted .this park is more suited to family with very young kids although im sure that older ones could find something to do e.g swimming,sport,snooker/pool or just relaxing as with anything its what you make of it yourself

the park it self is fantastic so much 2 do with children ..i have just spent a week there in the apartments which really put a down side to my holiday i have never in my life stayed in anything so discusting all the cleaners on the site want sacking cause they is no way they get cleaned i would really advise people not to stay in any of the apartments as they are not child friendly too..also i had 2 report a faulty plug socket which any of us could of easliy got an electric shock from if i was to report the apartments to health and saftey they is no doubt they would be shut down its a shame that the apartments let the park down

i can honestly say the food hygene standards are second to none in the turnberry gardens resturant this park can do without clean freaks so your accommadation might be a little grubby but if you tell them they will come and clean it or give you diffrent accommadation after all your on holiday and who wants to cook thats why there are take away shops so stop moaning about things when you get home and complain when your there

this holiday was a disaster from start to finsh firstly they could not find any verification that we had booked the holiday even though it was booked last year then the caravan the gave us the door was broken the replacement was a little better and to top it all some kind person broke the swimming pool window so the pool was closed for four days so after all that i need another holiday but not at craig tara!!!
written by on 20/07/2010
all we seem to get is complaints about craig tara may i just say there,s no point moaning after you leave the park . they can only sort things out if you tell them while your there then hopfully they can sort the problem out for you i go to this park quite a few times a year and can honestly say they do their best to sort out as many complaints .that the people tell them about!!

Craig Tara, as i have experienced it, was not as bad as reviews i have read. I have just returned after spending the week there with my husband and 3 young kids. On arrival there was a small queue for check in which moved rather quickly. On recieving my keys and location of caravan i suggested to the girl to be moved closer to main area as i felt i was too far located away. She was extremely helpful and fulfilled my request without hesitation. after reading some of the awful reviews craid Tara recieved i was extremely aprehensive about seeing the caravan as i am a cleaning freak. However no fault could be found with my accomadation at all( superior 3 bed caravan). It was extremely clean. The whole family enjoyed our break. FANTASTIC POOL FOR ALL THE FAMILY.

very sad to hear this park is to close next year 2011 there is talk amongst the staff.that the main reason for the closure is the lack.of bookings being taken at this park.also the numerous complaints about the spars facilities on site
written by on 07/06/2010
First things first, the staff on arrival could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Check in was quick and easy and directions to the caravan were excellent.
The caravan itself was a bit untidy and could have done with a good sweep up and some of the bed linen was a bit worse for wear to say the least. The location of of the caravan was good. The only downside to the caravan was the fact that it was right on the main walkway and extremely noisy. On the first night me and my partner were awoken by a couple have an out right screaming match at each other and two neds kicking a ball outside and deciding on what caravan they were going to do over. On the second night were were rudely awoken by a young man vomiting outside. The other down side were the complete A***-holes next door who thought it was OK to shout abuse at young kids and shout and swear and play music at an unacceptable volume. However if by chance you do experience this do report it to the security as they will promptly come out and deal with this.
The pool is great fun however is a bit cold and does close between 1-2pm. The farm next door to the site is excellent although a bit pricey (£9.00 per adult and £7.00 per child and this includes those under 2)loads to see and is great fun. The night time entertainment is reasonably good with alot of child/audience participation.
Overall the holiday is OK and good for the kids (although would say older kids i.e. 5 years and over)however can be very expensive and I would say it might be and idea to take a pair of ear plugs and dont put up with yobs (if you have them) making your break miserable.

CRAIG TARA (HAVEN) AYR.....
we just back from spending the weekend at craig tara holiday park in ayr, it was ok for the kids, pretty expensive for some of the rides though like £1.75 for a token to get them 5 shots on an inflatable slide, which with the speed kids go at was over in pretty much 30 seconds. our caravan was ok, clean and comfyish, mind you it was only for sleeping in i suppose. staff were friendly enough and the funstars amused the kids. fish and chip shop was expensive and not really that good, and while waiting in line the guy serving completely forgot about my order so i had to wait longer for our meal. the wee chinese place was ok, best chips in the place, spar shop was expensive, drink for the adults was expensive too. papa johns pizza place was good, though they only done small and extra large pizzas, no middle sizes for sharing unfortunately. soft play area was closed so we couldnt use that but the kids had fun on the swing park area. pool said it was heated but we didnt feel any warmth in the water. everything was expensive, in the 1st day we spent around £100 just on things for the kids to do and food. WARNING!!!!!! THEY (HAVEN) STATE THATE THIS IS A FAMILY PARK AND NO SINGLE SEX OR MIXED SEX GROUPS UNDER A CERTAIN AGE ARE ALLOWED, HOWEVER ON OUR 1ST NIGHT OUR KIDS WERE WOKEN UP TERRIFIED WITH A GROUP OF DRUNKEN YOUTHS RAMPAGING AROUND AND FIGHTING AROUND OUR CARAVAN, LOUD MUSIC WAS A PRETTY MUCH CONSTANT THING. THINK HAVEN SHOULD SORT THIS OUT AS THE PLACE WOULD BE MUCH BETTER IF THEY STUCK TO THEIR OWN RULES!!!!!

there are too many caravans and not enough entertainment venues also the shops onsite are very pricey for the tat they sell. the only good thing about this park is the location and the view across to arran.

We have just came back from a weekend at craig tara, i advise to take a heater or hire one because the caravan was freezing. We arrived to a broken mirror above the fire which had been left and sticking out right at head level of my 20 month old,we moved it ourselfs because of the obvious danger but it took 2 complaints to come and get collected.
Also we had no hot water but after a complaint that got fixed fairly quick.
The kids slept fine but myself and my husband were in agony from the bed i hate to think how old the mattress was.
We went to the bonga wonga club but didnt think much of the kids entertainment as it finished for bingo at 7pm,as we would have been going home at 7.30-8pm for kids beds a little while longer of entertainment for them would have been good.
Overall if it wasnt for the kids we would have been home the day after arriving that sums it up!

Criag Tara - Ayr. 29 - 31st August, 2009
I have just returned from Craig Tara after a two night stay with my family (2 adults and 3 children). Value for money was brilliant. We only paid £120 for two nights for five of us. Food was good if a bit overpriced. The park was beautiful - very clean and the pool was fantastic. Our caravan could have been cleaned a bit better - everything had a sticky feel to it as if they had used one cloth and not washed it out all day - but hey you can live with that for a couple of days. However, the Funstars were a BIG disappointment. Having holidayed at a different Haven Park earlier in the summer, where the Funstars were second to none, the Funstars at Ayr were a real let down. They were totally disinterested. One of my daughters went to ask one of them something and he just gave her a dirty look at walked off. They had no PZAZZ!!
Overall, I think the only disappointment was the funstars - not what I have become accustomed to over the many years that I have holidayed with Haven - other than that the park was great.

My family booked 2 caravans in Craig Tara for the week starting 20.6.09. Caravans pretty good. The site itself was fine and the entertainment was very good. However, the caravan we stayed in had a seagull's nest on the roof. The seagulls were very noisey - 24/7. So if you would like a peaceful night's sleep I wouldn't recommend. Dogs are allowed onto the site which is fine by us,however, some owners not taking resonsbility to clean up after them, hence dog's dirt on the beach!! Location of places to see very good e.g. Loudon Castle. Good enough holiday for the price, £450 for Prestige caravan, but would not pay anymore.

Went to craig tara with my daughter for a short notice cheap and cheerful. Arrived 20 March 1 st day opened so got checked in early (bonus), the girl gave directions was helpful. Got to the digs small basic and a bit chilly ,( was the1 st day and weather not great) so just take a extra blanket and bed socks and your set. No lounge or kitchen but if half board a coffee or tea in the room is fine. Loads for kids to use my daughters fav expression fantasic!!!!!!!!.I got this deal real cheap less than £50 a night well worth not having to cook, food OK somethinng for everyone not to the standards of Heston what's his face but alright. Enertainment great for kids too didn't see any madness but was early to room for us. Overall a break away is what you make it just be prepared and you'll enjoy.

Just returned from Craig Tara and had a great time. It was clean, tidy and not at all like your previous reviews. Go with a budget in mind and use the facilites on offer. It is good base to visit other attractions. My children enjoyed the whole break, this is family complex. Catered for families for a break. For the price of the holiday it is value for money, would recommend and go again.

just back today and all the staff could not have been more helpful i agree i think people just like to moan. i have been here 3 times and my caravan has always been spotless and i would be very fussy as i suffer from ocd. its got lovely views i would recommend that you go and give it a try for yourself. the only thing i can say is that there is not much entainment on site but this could be because i go in end of june and not peak season. the fun stars are great way the kids esp dan, rem a hoilday is what you make it. i hope this helps
