Been visiting reighton for several years. Generally wonderful place lots of fun. I don't know what's happened this year but the Hawkwood restaurant is Very understaffed, a reduced menu, Wait for food over 1 hrs and that's after waiting for 30 mins or longer for service. Food not up to usual standard and tables left sticky . The wait for drinks at bar due to lack of staff unbelievably slow. Staff were bickering and flustered and generally not enough of them . Facilities are overcrowded, difficult to get seat in club. Almost impossible to book swimming slots had to wait for walk in sessions with fingers crossed . Very upsetting for grandchildren and especially disappointing as play passes cost over £300. Never ever thought I would be writing a bad review for Reighton sands. Come home 2 days early as had enough Disappointment.

Great park and improved since our last visit. Would recommend going on touring one site, toilets always kept clean, wardens regularly seen walking around checking all ok. The swimming pool inside and out was enjoyed by the children. Entertainment always great for the children. Could do with another food outlet like other haven sites ie papa johns or Burger King. All in all a great holiday apart from the winds and rain which can't be helped, British weather!

This was our 2nd visit to reighton sands and we was very pleased with the 7 day stay.We checked in with no problems, the caravan was very clean. Night time was very enjoyable. The funstars are excellent, had loads of time for every child. The bar staff was very friendly and never waited long to be served. very pleased and will be going back every year now with my family.

Reighton sands, Would defiantly go again, we arrived at the park and it was in a nice quiet and friendly environment, The staff were very friendly on arrival and throughout our stay, The on site shop was reasonably priced and the bar and mash and barrel were too. There was a lovely private gold sandy beach with a steep slope as access but couldn't be helped and the good point was that there was a tractor ride running 10am until 4pm wich was free and was really helpful. The site was really clean and security were very friendly, we were placed in a nice quiet area wich was good as we didn't have any noise from the complex. We had a lovely caravan it was a private one and it had a nice big balcony so it was great for the kids to play on. The complex and arcade has been reviewed previously as small, ok the arcade could of been a little bigger but it was big enough, and the entertainment room was quiet big it was big enough for us to be able to get a table every night without struggle. To sum it up would DEFINATLY reccomend it to anyone who is thinking about staying!!!!

Accommodation was fine but basic as you would expect. Reasonably clean however the shower has seen better days and didn't look very clean at all. We had to air out the caravan as it smelt very musty but I think it hadnt been used for a few weeks. I would go again as we did ejoy ourselves and our friends had a good time too

we used to go to reighton sands all the time every year while our kids were growing up, we found that it was a small park with minimum entertainment and well we liked it cos it was small and quiet and we couldnt lose our kids there lol. the last time we went though i was very very dissapointed, the staff wasnt as friendly as they used to be and we found a huge dead rat outside the booking offices, we reported this and the woman did not look shocked at all she stood there and said in front of us, not another and then put a bucket over it which stayed there several hours before they disposed of it, we went for our meal in the restaraunt and was dissapointed, where as before it tasted homecooked, it now tasted like a £1.50 microwave meal, the chip shop there isnt bad, and the funworks are fun, the statics seam to have gone downhill, we asked for a prestige and got the same one as last year that wasnt even prestige class, at one time i would have give this a very high rating but now it gets a thumbs down from me, its not as clean as it used to be and staff not as friendly. nowadays i stick to havens hafan y mor in north wales, much cleaner nicer site.

Right I will get complaints out of way first. on arrival to our caravan, could smell something terrible behind fridge.also on our first night discovered bulbs in bathroom & little hall way had blown so we called someone and it was sorted after 2 hrs.the caravan was suposed to have been cleaned & checked but on inspection of shower cubical hair was found on wall. we were staying at HighElmes, quite a walk to complex right at the back almost touching the tent site.please take note, some old person complained. as we were flying our twins kites to close to his caravan. and reported us (trust me we were at the very back of the hill were dogs go to walk no where near any of the caravans)other than that. the good points. got Holiday half price through Haven :) on arrival was greeted friendly and quick, showed us how to get to our accomadation, views were lovely got the best spot. beds were made on Arrival. alot of the caravan was tired, but on the whole still nice. living&kitchen area was ok but bed rooms were on the little side. only visited the bar to use wifi, drinks and food were expensive burger& chips £5.95 jacket potatoe with cheese/ beans £4.95.I didnt use the entertainment ares so cannot comment, didnt go swimming but my 3 children did. one time they came back to tell me they had seen gum floating in the water. the beach was very clean but to get down to it u have to be fit it is a very steep slope down but there is transport to take you up/down everyday 10-4 (except fridays dont know why) the shop was on the expensive side as well . I still think i got value for money, if id paid full price i might of complained more. on the whole if you are expecting 5stars then this isnt for you , iv been to blue dolphin and primrose vally i didnt think much to them. but this site does for me& my family& westie . ok been going to reighton since 04-09 and now 2011 was very ill 2010 only reason we didnt go.hopefully we will be back next year

Last minute holiday break with daughter and grandchildren to Haven holiday park at Reighton Sands, got great deal for 4 nights self catering caravan in Yorkshire coastal region. Impressed with site of caravan excellant sea view from window, didn't expect to get such a good site. From checking in on arrival to going home all staff very helpful and friendly, even got into caravan before due check in time, given voucher to get a drink as well.Stayed in superior caravan which was clean and in good condition with all equipment you need for a holiday break. Childrens entertainment excellant with lots of activities to keep young ones amused and a really good entertainment team with plenty of patience.Even had 2 wins on the nightly bingo game which was a real bonus. Shame weather was not as good as site but you can't have everything can you. Would definately go back to this site again, site smaller than some of other Haven sites but I think this adds to the family feel. Would recommend Reighton Sands 100% to anyone wanting an affordable value for money family holiday.

Just returned from Reighton Sands on May bank holiday weekend,my first camping trip there, had problems pitching the tents due to high winds, but it is on the east coast on top of a cliff so should have expected that.Staff were very friendly and helpful, bar and food prices a bit steep but that's what disposable barbies and slabs of beer are for,the Spar on-site was very expensive so we found a Tescos just down the road in Filey to get our food and drink.I read the reviews before i went and was a bit concerned due to a lot of negative comments but to be honest you get what you pay for,and it was a cheap 3 nights on a bank holiday weekend,so all in all a good deal.

Just returned from Reighton Sands, seen some bad reviews but found these not to be correct, Site clean and tidy, grounds staff always working, Ents staff great and enthusiastic, Bar staff friendly and efficient. Accommodation was spotless and brand new 2011 model. Plenty to do in local area, beach is down a steep slope but you are on the cliffs so its to be expected, great walks directly from site. Will return

Just returned from Reighton Sands, 3 night break, superiour caravan, not sure it was superiour, cushions on settee filthy, would not have paid any more thank we did for this break, staff were very poor compared to other years, bar manager just walked round all the time, not interested in visitors just of his own importance, food was very expensive and poor value, there are take aways that deliver to caravans and are very good. Used to be a very nice friendly camp, things have defintley changed this season, especially the prices.

i used to go there all the time with my husband and 3 children, i have changed my mind on the place, it used to be fantastic but now its not so good, we saw 3 rats during our stay and that put us off, one of them was dead on the footpath outside the office, the staff in the office just put a bucket over it and walked off, since then we have been to a few havens and we have found hafan y mor to be the best its in north wales, deffo best for quality, and its quite cheap too

We were a party of 4 adults staying for a 3 night break as part of the Sun newspaper offers. Having used this offer previously, we know that it costs more than £9.50. As my parents are elderly, we upgraded to a "luxury plus" (advertised as superior by Haven), paid for electricity, entertainment passes, bed linen etc. 24 hours before check-in we were telephoned by the site to say that it was very cold but that if we paid an extra £40 (on top of the £130 already paid) we could be upgraded to Prestige accommodation with heating in bedrooms, otherwise there would not be any heating other than a gas fire in the lounge. It felt like blackmail, and we had no choice in view of the age of my parents. On check-in we tried to re-confirm that we had PRESTIGE accommodation, but the receptionist tried to ignore our questions and simply confirmed that we had heating in the bedrooms. The caravan was only accessible by carrying everything through a quagmire (some idiot had tried to drive his car up the grass bank and just made a pool of mud). We had to take the same route every time we went out! The accommodation was "dated" to say the least, wall coverings hanging off, broken furniture, filthy window frames. The shower was dangerous - the water was either scalding hot or freezing cold - not good for children! The electricity tripped out 3 times, including once late at night when we had been out. Each time we had to call someone out because the internal trip switch was not working. We were told that we should only either have the heaters on low, OR the kettle on, OR the microwave.
This is the third "Sun" offer we have tried.
Of the three, this was the most expensive and the worst accommodation we have stayed in. We spoke to others who had been offered upgrades but who had declined, and they also had heating in the bedrooms.

Just got back from a 3night stay with my wife and 2boys aged 1 and 2, i can honestly say we had a great time the caravan was spotless they had upgraded us to a 8berth with central heating which was a nice surprise, the pool was ok nice temperature and clean the park was tidy and well kept didn't have much to do with the staff as we keep ourselves to ourselves,we paid £140 and it was well worth it remember it is a caravan park not a 5* hotel.it wast all good, the chippy on site was rubbish and the breakfast in the mash and barrel was poor.

We went to reighton sands in september 2010 for the weekend and it was awful, never again. Before i booked i asked if a sporting event would be shown in the pub, they said yes. When i arrived i went in the pub and asked and they said yes. When we arrived later to watch the match i asked again just before ordering food and they put it on but as soon as i paid for my food they turned it over and refused to put it back on as the man serving drinks wanted to watch something else. The caravan was the best they had but was rubbish and had nothing in it, i will never ever return to an haven site again and will be writing a letter of complaint to head office, STAY AWAY!

31.8.10 I have just come back from what can only be described as a holiday from hell. Myself and my 6year old daughter and two other familys have just come back from a camping trip to Reighton Sands, the site is described as windy but in our case this was an understatement. BE WARNED people this site has no protection from the elements, you are on top of a cliff with no fence around it, and the staff dont feel it is their duty to warn you that severe winds are forecast. We pitched up yes it was windy as described but not too bad, sleeping was difficult as it really flapped the tent around but on the second day of our stay we got up it was windy as usual, we made the mistake of going off to Bridlington for the day when we got back at 4.30 in the afternoon we were all in shock all our tents had been blown over and our stuff just blowing round the campsite, it blew our children over and they had to be taken off to a caravan by a passer by while we battled to save what we could. We later found out that Haven staff were advising new people coming to the site not to pitch because of the severe winds forecast but no warning no duty of care was given to the people already pitched on the site. If this had happened through the night then I am quite sure we would have suffered serious injuires if not worse, the wind was so bad you could not stand in it it had completely snapped metal poles etc. We tried to get Haven to give us a caravan for the nite so we could sort our things out etc but they said they had none spare!!!! We complained about not been warned about SEVERE winds been forecast, they replied we are not weathermen!! we asked to be reinbursed for our 3 nights and got a point blank no. We had between us over a thousand pounds worth of camping equipment destroyed not to mention the trauma to us and our children. If you value your life dont stay here if a hurricane is forecast through the night then the staff at Haven will just leave you to the elements, after all you should know the weather forecast from your plasma TV and your stereo system in your tent!!!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Weve just come back from our 7 nite holiday at Reighton sands. We took 3 teens and our 5 yr old. We read the reviews and thought what have we done. Our first impression was awful and our superior caravan was terrible. Sayin that we ended up having 1 of the best holidays weve every had. We went straight to reception to complain about our caravan an got up graded to the most expensive 1s. As l am ill and in a wheelchair they made sure we were near to the amenites. We also got back our £15 early bookin fee. All the staff at the park were so friendly and helpful.
The Mash an Barrel bar served excellent food for the prices. 6 of us eat and had drinks for around £50. The portions were big and the food was very tasty.
It is a small park and doesnt have as much activites as other parks but thats what we liked, an less to spend money on, however none of us got bored at all.
The only problem was the beach, been in a wheelchair it was a nitemare getting back up the hill, the beach its self is clean and spacious.
We are going back next yr, 4 the price of the caravan people expect 5 star everything. Maybe if people tried to have a good time they might instead of moaning.
Can l just add this was our 1st UK holiday, we normally go to Majorca al inclusive. It really isnt that bad at all, infact if u try you may well enjoy yourself. We didnt want to leave.

We just came back from a 4 day break at Reighton sands,The static caravan was spotlessley clean, and we had booked a 6 berth but was given a 8 berth,no complaints there as there was 7 of us incuding a baby our 4yr old had an accident one night and they gave us replacement bedding the next day no bother, we didnt need to stay in even the bedding was there when we got back, we run out of gas one night and rang the emergency number and within 10 mins they brought us new gas bottle, lovely walk down to sea down a ravine which gets very steep no problem only be careful with a pram.On the bad side was the childrens entertainment, start off with meet the characters that was good then the show that was good but party dancec just 3 dances thats mean dont they know at haven that children love the party dances, that was every night even party in the dark stretched to 4 only, they only seem to be interested in getting money in hence an hour long bingo that you can only get haven toys if you win small ones at that. come on Haven children love party dances why not give them an hour party dances look at the dance floor its packed even mums and dads love it too. split the night up half for children and the other half for adults,I was annoyed about the autograph signing you had to buy a sword for 4pound or a pencil tin for 5 to get a autograph from the characters money again, why not be like disney where the characters walk around and sign autographs for free, or like pontins where you can meet characters throught the day, sorry cant do that no money init, give a little insted of blatanly even to children after squeeing every penny out of them. yes Id go to Haven again but not go to the club house until childrens entertainment improves thankyou just felt i had to view my feelings and maybe help with ideas
