“really disappointing holiday”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/07/2023

On arrival the caravan was not ready and a cleaner was just starting to clean, 15 minutes later it was done, we got inside to make a cup of tea and found the crockery was all dirty, after washing up we put the kettle on only to find it didnt work. the surfaces of the van were dirty when we wiped them over. We had booked for 7 people but there were only 4 pillows supplied, we phoned reception and they did bring a new kettle and pillows but no pillowcases. the blind in the bathroom didnt work, one of the beds collapsed on the first night and the carving knife and scissors were stored in the bottom cupboard, we didnt know until my 2 year old grandson came in the living room with the knife in his hand! We have been there before but if i had known how run down and neglected the park and vans are i wouldnt have booked, needles to say i wont be visiting again!Overall a very disappointing holiday and time wasted having to do the cleaners job properly.

“Had great family holidays with our Doggy”

★★★★☆

written by yyWard296 on 09/07/2022

My family along with our doggy had great holidays in Haven Holiday Prestaven. Only thing I would recommend to improve is provide the WiFi signal to the residence. Otherwise, it's fabulous place to spend time with family.

went here last week ,first thing you have to do is book a platinum caravan, its quiet and quality of mobile alot better.there is a train alongside park its not too bad,the complex is big and loads to do,very clean and staff friendly.I WOULD RECOMMEND TO MY FRIENDS WITH PLATINUM MOBILE.WE FOUND 3 DAYS ENOUGH.WOULD GO BACK.POOLS ACTIVITYS GREAT,GOLF OVER PRICED.BEACH CLOSE BY AND IS BEAUTIFUL SPOTLESS.WENT TO QUAY WEST 3 TIMES ITS FAB,AND THE DOWN AT THE QUAYS IS LOVELY,BEACH BESIDE ASWELL. CONS : KIDS ACTIVITYS NOT GREAT TIMES AND QUALITY NOT GREAT,THINK STAFF NEED A BIT MORE EXPERIENCE.YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR DONKEY RIDES THREE POUND PER CHILD AND ITS NOT LONG,ARIEL ADVENTURE THE WALKING IN AIR ON ROPES OVER PRICED 8 POUND.MENU COULD BE A BIT MORE ,BUT FOOD EXCELLENT.SHOULD LET YOU KNOW THE PRICES OF ACTIVITYS.NOTHING FREE.

“Holiday on Presthaven touring site”

★★★☆☆

written by LillieParsons159 on 25/05/2014

Spent 5 days on the touring site. There was no mention in your brochure about the rail line running at the side of the site. They forgot to tell you how far it is to the main entertainments, there is a free bus in the day but you have to walk back at night. There was no heating on in the showers all the 5 day we were there There was no hocks or benches to hang your clothing or towel to keep them dry, also there is no soap hold or anything to use when having a shower

“Haven or Hell”

★☆☆☆☆

written by milo132 on 02/07/2013

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Presthaven Sands. We booked this holiday for my husband and I and a small dog, we also booked a separate caravan for my parents. My parents were able to check in from 2pm and we were unable to check in until 4pm ( finally received the key at 4.30pm)The check in procedure was like being in a cattle market, the staff were ignorant and as unhelpful as possible. On entering our caravan we were greeted with complete disappointment for the following reasons. The carpet was dirty and ripped, the furnishings were stained and threadbare, the smell of air freshener was still quite strong as the cleaners had just left. The fridge was leaking and had black dog hairs in, the stool in the bedroom was so stained and dirty that I had to put it outside. The dining table coating around the edge was peeling and very sharp both myself and my father cut our arms we could not use this table. The tv was unwatchable and the mattress was a complete joke, the springs were at the top hence a bruised hip after one night. My husband went to reception and complained and they promptly sent a member of staff to change the mattress and steam clean the furniture, and repair the tv which lasted all of a day. Will I be going again NO. I have a clean well maintained home I do not expect to pay for a weeks stay in a shabby, dirty, smelly caravan, hence the air freshener when we arrived to mask the smell of dog odours. This holiday was a complete waste of money and Haven holidays should be ashamed of themselves for expecting people to put up with these very very poor standards.

“Disappointing”

★★☆☆☆

written by Kraggy on 20/05/2013

I have just come back from Presthaven Sands and it will probably be the last time I go there. The complex is huge with hundreds of caravans everywhere you look. We were in a standard caravan right by the railway line. This actually didn't bother me as it was quite interesting to see the trains go by. The caravan itself was ok. we found that the seating in the lounge had dozens of upholstery button covers missing, leaving sharp metal bits exposed. Haven fixed this by covering the seating with a white sheet!(?...). There was also no toilet brush.... The rest of the caravan was fine. Next, the entertainment. The complex has an uncomfortable amount of security staff, especially at night and this made me wonder why. Not meaning to sound snobbish, I noticed that a lot of customers had shaved heads, tattoos and wore tracksuit bottoms. This appeared to be the main class of customer. The language they used was not much better, especially in front of young children. The daytime entertainment focused mainly on young children. The staff are great and work hard. The swimming pools are fine and warm enough, but akin to a cattle market when busy. The night entertainment consisted mostly of singers, which is fine, if you like that sort of thing. A stand up comedian or variety show would have been better and would have stopped my 11 year old son from being bored. The arcade is good, but overpriced, with a standard £1 or £2 to play a game or go on a short ride. The food outlets, including Burger King, Mash and Barrel and the Spar, take advantage of customers with ridiculously inflated prices. For example, a Mars Bar is 81p. If you go to the co-op outside the complex, you can buy 4 for £1. Average meal prices at the Mash and Barrel are £7 upwards. A good tip... eat outside the complex. The complex has show caravans on sight, which are fanstastic. However, you need a fair sized bank account to buy one. The beach is five minutes from the complex. Dont expect fine white sand as you ultimately come across gravel type sand covered with millions of stones. A decent place to sit was hard to find. We didn't go on the Go Carts, but watched instead. This experience was ruined by a chav type youth in a baseball cap, who violated all the rules and had to be told off by the staff. 3 and 4 wheeled bikes can be hired. However, watch out for youths riding them, who I found rode dangerously and with disregard for pedestrians All in all, I would say Presthaven Sands is average. If you can afford it, go further south to a nicer park in Devon or Cornwall and give this a miss.

“FUN bus”

★★★★★

written by on 29/04/2013

Hi, just had to write to praise your guys on the Funbus. My kids had to get the Funbus everytime we went up to the Complex because they enjoyed it so much. They especially liked Fred who was always laughing and joking with them and nothing was to much trouble for him. He was very helpful and knowledgable about the site and the surrounding area and almost made us trade in our tourer for a static. Well, maybe next time.... We will definately come back soon and stay longer than a few days.... Once again thankyou for a lovely break. See you soon.

Last year it was lovely - this year there was terrible - upon arrival I checked the caravan, mould in main bedroom, mould on the mattresses, mould in the shower, hair on the floor, smell of urine in the bathroom. Facilities in caravan self catering - no grill pan and the cooker went out when you open the door, no enough cups, glasses, cutlery,no bread knife , the smallest tv I have ever seen - outside not cleaned cig food etc - very dirty - did not go swimming as it smelt of urine, could not hire bikes as despite it being the first week of the summer hols they did not have any with the bloke saying we have none they are all broke - in the process of complaining - when I did complain they never returned my calls and sai could not move us as we had a dog - overall rubbishholiday which cost over £800 - could have gone abroad for that !!!! Avoid or if u do chance it complain complain complain till they sort it and take names of staff which I forgot to do

We ahve booked 2 holidays at Haven this year and have just came back from our first. It was amazing, we didnt want to leave. Bargain at its cost, the new caravans are great. The fayre was not on yet, and the local ammenities are a little pricey but overall it was great,. Kids loved it and so did we!! Plenty to do, staff are very friendly and helpful, Its clean and I felt safe letting my girls go off on there own around the park! Cant wait to go back!!! And for me to say this, well, I expect to get what it says on the tin anything below par for me is unacceptable and i complain! Nothing about this holiday was a disappointment Thanks Haven see you in July

“disgrace”

★☆☆☆☆

written by hectordog on 13/10/2011

We Have today moved our caravan of this site as it is a total and utter disgrace, the park manager thinks he is god and the sales manager is an out and out bully towards women, but funnily enough a wimp when confronted be a man!!!!!!!!!! couldnt wait to get away from there, customer relations well there isnt any, benefits for privalidge card holders (owners) forget it, as long as you keep giving these rats your money IE: all in all approx £5000 per year then you kiss their butts , they arnt interested in anything but making money coz the staff get a big fat bonus if they make a good profit thats how it works, this site should realy be shut down or at least get staff that care about people and not profit, when you are thinking of buying a caravan they will promise you anything you want but you wont get it thats a fact i can vouch for that and alot of the owners would tell you the same, so if you are thinking of buying a caravan on this park talk to a few owners first they will tell you the truth dont ask any of the second hand car salesmen or women they will just do as they always do and lie then try to cheat you out of your money. these people are disgusting as is presthaven sands , i would have given them no stars but i cant do that here

Hummingbird1979's Response to hectordog's Review

We did exactly the same, we brought our caravan in 2008 they received our money but the aftercare was shocking, the last haul was when some demented woman took my windbreakers down while I was out she said she wanted to walk through oh hello. We moved it in 2012, everytime we needed help or repairs we would be fobbed off, they always concentrated on making the front of the park pretty but the top end was terrible, grass never mowed, weeds everywhere and massive rabbit holes where i twisted my ankle, rubbish all over the place, broken glass, we moved our van to a well maintained park, site fees are cheaper and they have top security, constantly I would have my benches stolen when I wasn't there, also my side door to my van got smashed in by stupid people who where playing with a large stick and stones, but no one owned up they all hid. BEST MOVE EVER, owners got ignored.

“Fantastic Holiday”

★★★★☆

written by Janiney on 25/08/2011

After reading some reviews before arrival was worried about the state of the caravan and park. Have been to this park before and was happy with it but thought it must of gone really downhill. IT HASN'T! Check in was alot more organised than our 1st visit. Our caravan was very clean and so was the park. The staff were friendly. Beach access is good. An added bonus was we were able to take our dog. We ate in the Mash and Barrell, the food was very good as was the service. The caravan had everything we needed to cook meals. We had a fabulous holiday and will definitely be returning.

“Ok...but would only recommend going for a weekend at...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 02/07/2011

Just come back from a week long stay at Presthaven Sands and can say i did not really enjoy my time there. I private rented my caravan and it was absolutely lovely so can not comment on the standard accomadation issued by the park itself.(But would definatley recommened looking into a private rent of a caravan after looking through some of these comments and for what i paid id say it was cheaper than booking through haven itself.) The Park was very clean & well maintained always someone walking about with rubbish blowers etc...The entertainment complex was also very clean, the only bit i wasnt impressed with was the cleanliness of the changing rooms in the splashzone always dirty floors & bits of hair everywhere but with the size of the changing rooms & the amount of people in there they would probably not be able to keep on top of this. The pool & lazy river was only open at certain times of day & on a friday the lazy river isnt open at all & only one of the two indoor ones are open on this day also. The outdoor pool was not open at all during my stay and it was lovely weather so my partner asked why it was not open & got told it was closed because health & safety closed it down as the floor was not level/safe so has to be re-done & they were awaiting for this to be done. My kids were very disapointed. The fair ground workers need to be a bit more friendly & at least show they might be interested in there job as it looked like they just couldnt be bothered. The Evening entertainment is VERY VERY POOR!!!! ive been to a few different havens on the last few years and can safely say this is by far the worst for entertainment. Many nights the acts were like my drunk dad at a wedding on karaoke couldnt sing/dance/preform!!! Also one night they had a so called comedian on at around 9pm so there was lots of children still about and he was making very lude sexual comments/jokes, we ended up walking out this night as it was very bad & saying that we walked out most nights as the enterainment was that bad. Even the funstars didnt do a good job...didnt really do anything for the kids. And they repeat the sames shows every other night nearly. we must of seen each show twice over the week. I Was very very disapointed i was expecting alot more as my opinion from other parks was so high even my 3 & 7 year old kids wernt happy with it. Before i went to the park id read alot about the train line being very noisy but i can honestly say i didnt see a problem with it at all...i was only 6 caravans away from the train line and the odd time it sounded it horn (but this wouldnt wake u up) and only heard it passing on a few occasions. id say the seagulls walking on top of the caravans are more of a problem...lol! TOP TIP: Drinks at the bar are very dear even for soft drinks go to burger king for soft drinks & Dont use on site shops/restraunts unless needed. the spar is very overpriced & there is an asda/aldi/many other shops in rhyl & prestatyn a 5min drive away. Also just a 2min drive away from the haven site (out of lower gronant & turn left)there is a crown carvery very cheap they also do a breakfast menu in same style & also n rhyl there is a sizzling pub both of these i highly recommend both fantastic value for money.

i agree with this review, worst holiday park we have ever visited and that includes Carmarthen Bay which is also bad. its hard to belive that this is a Haven park. However I was told by (name removed - customer service team) that the outdoor pool was open at Easter, she did not mention anything about the problems with the floor, but there again staff at Presthaven Sands gave different excuses all the time. When I asked about the lazy river being closed I was told they did not have enough life guards only to be told by reception that it never opens on checking days. would never go back there staff were rude.

“We have just spent a week at Presthaven Sands and wish...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/05/2011

We have just spent a week at Presthaven Sands and wish we hadn't as we couldn't wait to get home.
I was extremlley dissapointed as there was hardly any entertainment for kids unless you paid for it (meaning the Arcade that you have to walk through to get to anywhere in the Facilitys,) all of which pay out tickets which if you are lucky enough to get a considerable ammount at great cost you minght get a plastic Barbie doll like we did. We had Breakfast 3 times at the Mash and barrel all of which were served nearly cold and half cooked, we went on the mini golf to keep little one entertained at the cost of 12:00 for 2 Adults and 1 child (extortionate) and the pool was cloudy and had bits floating in it.The whole holiday cost me more than it would of cost to go to greece for a week we spent 320:00 in 1 week on so called entertainment and snacks as i took food with me for evening Meals. We were kept awake till 1-2 am on 3 nights as kids playinf football outside caravan. All in All It was the worst week that we have ever spent on a holiday and will NEVER be repeated no matter what the only reason i have given 1 star is because there was not an option for no star rating which is what i would have given if i had the choice.
