Just returned today from Primrose Valley and had a brilliant week, booked at Platinum 2 bed caravan and ended up being given a 3 bed which was excellant throughout, was in Linkfield Court which was really close to main funworks, staff and funstars brilliant, site lovely, some things are expensive but you don't have to spend the money if you don't want too, our kids were quite happy cycling around and going to the adventure playground, kids clubs and going swimming which doesn't cost anything extra, ate out at the Mash and Barrell a couple of times which compared to others wasn't expensive but cooked in our caravan the majority of the week. All in all haven holidays are only as expensive as you make them yourself, we had a brilliant time and more importantly the kids loved it. Would definately recommend.

Just been was also in Eskdale like another reviewer and indeed it is far from the main events but not to far for it to be a bother. The area around Filey consists of filey beach (winner of cleanest beach 2010) and it was very clean. Scarborough which is just full of everything and anything, bridlington which is just a seaside mecca. Onsite the their are manay activities most at cost. there restuarant was good, and general clean level.

“23/8/10. just back from 7 nights at havens primrose...”

★★★★★

written by markann11 on 23/08/2010

23/8/10. just back from 7 nights at havens primrose valley, i'm quite easy to please but the wife isn't so i booked a 2 bedroom prestige van,£700 for the week. some people complaining about check in times but with prestige van we were able to check in at 2.30, no queues , no fuss. our van was in eskdale, probably the furthest away you could get from the main complex, about a mile, 15-20 minute walk. we took the car so no problems there. the van was immaculate and well furnished, kitchen / diner with integrated appliances, en-suite bathroom, central heating, flat screen tv / dvd player etc.

the swimming pools and parks are free, but you have to pay for all other rides / activities etc. the prices are actually cheaper than we would pay when the travelling fair comes to town, (dodgems £2, twister £2, go carts £5 5 mins etc, some cash some via tokens you buy) so not extortionate as some people claim, i'm not flash with my cash but neither do i go on holiday to save money!

food on site nice enough, nothing flash but does the job,not too expensive, the on -site spar is not as overpriced as i was lead to believe, but if you are that concerned just take a 5 minute drive to filey, you will pass a herron store, selling branded goods at special offer prices.

tried a meal at the plough which we passed on the way in, but uinfortuanately it was rather dissapointing, mis -matched chairs, dirty tables etc, but huge plates of food, cheap and nearly cheeful, but not the best to be honest.

if you want to watch the entertainemnt in jester's bar i suggest you get there early (6pm) as we arrived 6.15 twice and couldn't get a seat, super busy with kids all over, but that's the idea isn't it?

plenty of places to visit locally, scarborough 15 mins, whitby 30 mins, filey 5 mins. peasholm park is beautiful, with naval warfare displays (google it!!) and of course you have to try fish and chips at the seafront.

overall i / we can't fault the place, clean, tidy, friendly staff, immaculate toilet areas and pool areas, good security. jam packed of activities, bars really busy at night times but it was peak time, the entertainment is pretty low brow but it is aimed at kids, standard holiday park style. i would reccomend this place to friends and i wouldn't be frightened to go back myself either.

yes , as reported before the whole place is geared up to make money at every oportunity but nobody forces you to spend it, and if you can't entertain your kids without throwing money at them , well i would suggest that's your downfall, not that of a holiday park...........

written by on 19/01/2010

I went in march 2009 & i am also going this march (2010) I have read alot about the place from before a went and after i left...i never thought of leaving a review but even before i arrive i'm going to...because in march 09 i went with my girlfriend and spent 100 quid o a superiour plus caravan for 3 night...and i think the fact where going back says it all...it was excellent...i only took 100 quid to spend and came home with change after wasting most of it in the bar/arcades, the fish and chips...ok wernt great but theres a shop next door, so we just got some pasta and sauce and made our own dinner the next night. and also theres a pizza shop and burger king...didn't see the point in paying a tenner for a medium sized pizza but i did get the double whoppa from burger king when they got the place working!!!

but over i enjoyed my stay...i even went to the sports lounge and watch some super sunday football on the TV while i had lunch and a bevvy for about 6 pounds....all in all a great weekend...and looking forwards to another!

“me and my family have just got back from a 7 night...”

★★★★★

written by stalem 83 on 13/09/2009

me and my family have just got back from a 7 night stay at haven primrose valley and i can honestly say we had a fantastic time. first of all i have got to say that the staff and funstars members were the most helpfull people i have ever had on a holiday. second of all the food in the complex was great most of all we enjoyed the 'MASH AND BARRELL' and the chinese resteraunt which was also very nice, we did try papa johns pizza which was nice but it was a pizza what else can you say about a pizza though. i must add though that the chinese has nothing to do with HAVEN. thirdly about the cost of the place, well what can i say, the best way to describe the price is it is to suit a holiday complex. i myself drink gaymers cider and i couldnt really complain when i was paying about £2.80 a pint not when i can go to the local pubs and pay the same price. there is a fair ground on site which isnt the cheapest but it pays you to buy family tokens this consists of 50 tokens for £20 it works out that you get £5 worth of tokens free. the rides consist of, i trampoline with 4 places on it, dodgems, small tea cups, a simulation ride, a small train ride for the tots, and two other rides with i can only desribe as a childs ride which consists of helicopters and cars and busses which goes round and round and the other one is for old kids which also goes round and round but it is fast. the only thing that i could complain about about is that you have to pay for everything i.e, hire paddle boats on the lake the mini golf the slides, rope swings, archery, shooting you get the picture but even then i cant really complain because clearly tells you all of this on the web site, the fun works passes that you get include entrance into the arcades which is also where all the entertainment is based aswell as the two smimming pools, there is great little park in the middle of the grounds which my little ones loved. you will hear of people saying that they were miles away from the complex all i have to say to these people is lazy lazy and lazy the most you will have to walk is 5 min or so i know this because we were one of those people but even then there was a little carrige train that travells the main through road and stops at the main complex the park and the second smaller complex where the fair grond and second swimming pool is based it costs an adult 50p. the last thing i can add is about the caravan itself. we stayed in the 3 bed superior plus which we could not fault at all i was very impressed with the lay out of the whole thing and also the cleanliness was top notch the cleaners were just finishing off as we arrived and they were really heplpfull as well as they told me that the heating wasnt working but that was a simple matter of phoning the reception and they sent somone out straight away to change the gas bottles. be advisied though that the caravan can get cold trough the night which is why we took heaters just incase and it was a good job we did, also be warned though that if you do use any heaters on a night dong use the kettle at the same time as the kettle will use so mush power on top of the heaters power that the main trip swith will overload which means phoning the reception again but they are good at what they do as the electrician will come out within 5 to 10 min and put it baxk on for you. there is not much else i can tell you about primrose valley but i hope it is enough to help you all. happy holidays to all going

“Great holiday at Haven Holidays, Primrose Valley,...”

★★★★★

written by on 23/08/2009

Great holiday at Haven Holidays, Primrose Valley, caravan modern, clean and spacious. Even though the park was busy it is so large you didn't feel crowded except at night in the Jesters entertainment room where you had to be in early to get seats at the front near the stage. All the facilities were great and my 3 & 9 year old had loads to do with the pools being their favourites. The on-site shop was not as pricey as I thought for bread/milk etc and were similiar to your corner shop prices. The park was as good as the brochure said and I would recommend this park to anyone with a young family

written by on 09/08/2009

We spent 6 days at Haven Holidays Primrose Valley at the end of July 2009 after being recommended by a friend who had just returned. I found the park to be excellent. My children enjoyed the site more than any other we have been to and I now recommend it to my friends.
The site is extremely pleasant with wide main roads, plenty of nice green areas, wonderful views of the beach. We had some lovely walks around the camp whilst the children enjoyed the archade which was clean, very big and the staff there extremely helpful. The whole park had a lovely holiday feel to it and we found the staff in all areas of the park to be cheerful, friendly and helpful. There is a lovely boating lake, Burger King, Pizza, Chineese, fish and chip shop and a good shop. There is also the Haven Mash and Barrell resteraunt but we did not get round to using this as we found some nice children friendly pubs around the area.
We don't like the clubs so didn't use these but looked good.
I would really recomend it.

Have been going to Primrose Valley for 3 years and have never had a bad holiday there. It is good value for money and extremely clean and well maintained with high profile security. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. The first year we went I just booked a cheap holiday as had two very small children and not much money. We got 'standard' caravan which was large comfortable and clean. It can be expensive to go if your not very good at saying 'no' to your kids, but the pools and park are free, the entertainment (even that which only involves the onsite staff) is always brilliant. Have tried other holidays since first going, but they are pretty poor in comparison.

We love primrose valley. Windsors family room is the best place to be with older children, and Jesters for the younger. The funstars are always in a good mood and provide a great experience and excellent entertainment. We usually go around July time, with our 15 and 17 year old children who meet new people and HATE coming home. I'd recommend Primrose Valley to anybody.

written by nicdixon on 18/03/2006

We have been going to the Haven Primrose Valley holiday park for the past 2 years, and we have had a fantastic time. My children, my husband and I have stayed in a 3 star caravan, which was great. It had no luxuries, but it was clean and everything worked. Last year we decided to go for GOLD. This was wonderful, and total luxury. We are going back this year and going gold again, but even if you were staying in a touring caravan or a tent you would have the best time in the world. Also, the staff are great, especially the Fun Starz. They get to know all, and I mean all the kids within a day or so, so it makes you feel more at ease that someone knows who the kids belong to.
