“in 30+ years of touring/camping this is my only bad review”

★☆☆☆☆

written by annedrakeley on 13/08/2023

Stayed here first week of August 2023. Our pitches were not suitable for camping/touring. We booked 2 pitches 1 for myself, my husband and our dog (transit campervan with awning) and 1 for our son, his partner and their 2 children age 15 and 4 (VW T4 campervan with awning). Rain was running from the hill into our awning making puddles of mud, ruining all items stored therein and causing our transit camper van to sink 4” into the wet ground overnight. It took us almost an hour to get the van out even with gripper mats and didn’t dare drive it on again so parked on the roadside. We were unable to use our awning from Tuesday onwards. Whilst we are aware that no-one can control the British weather it seemed that there was no drainage in place. We have been holidaying in this way for more than 30 years, and sometimes in very heavy rain but I can honestly say we have never had to deal with such a mess. Roads are very rough and unlevel so impossible for young children to play on cycles, scooters etc. and even worse for anyone using a disability scooter. Children’s playground seemed unsafe having very high apparatus and no floor safety should anyone slip and fall. The baby changing room and washing up room were infested with hundreds of flying and crawling ants. Everyone expects a few insects when camping but this was horrific. My 4 year old grandson was helping with the washing up and we were forced to abandon the task as we were both covered in insects. When we asked if anything was being done about the ants we were told “what can you expect you are living in a field”. Technically correct but rude when you consider we paid £1179 for the privilege and the pitches were not fit for purpose. From Tuesday onwards all drinks were served in plastic at the Showbar as both dishwashers were broken. We spoke to the wardens about the state of our pitches and were told that Haven had been informed on more than one occasion. This is the first time in all our years of touring that I have felt the need to write a bad review. Haven and Seaview should be ashamed of themselves. The good bits:- Toilet and Shower rooms were clean with plenty of hot water and there was even a bath available. Swimming pools indoor and outdoor were basic but clean and staff were friendly. Showbar had good entertainment especially for the children. Bus stop on site running to Weymouth via Weymouth Bay holiday park hourly. Bowleaze Cove and Weymouth itself are well worth a visit. The beach at Weymouth is huge and sandy with an area for dogs to play. The sea water is quite shallow so safe for children to bathe.

“Better than Weymouth bay ”

★★★★★

written by Dani123456 on 07/07/2023

So we booked Weymouth bay, our caravan etc is there, however we visited the seaview sister caravan park and we ended up using the entertainment there, it was less crowded the kids had a ball with the cast, the entertainment crew were fantastic, we tried to attend the Weymouth on one of the nights and it was so overwhelming busy we left and went back to seaview. Just the right amount of guests we could actually enjoy the shows and my daughter could interact with the crew, honestly these guys need a bonus for the kids they put up with ???? so big well done to them, the outdoor pool is better here too.

“First of all would like to say alot of these reviews...”

★★★★☆

written by on 13/07/2010

First of all would like to say alot of these reviews seem to be somewhat old as I was very worried after reading them.

We booked a 4 night stay in a superior 6 birth caravan and have to say we absolutly loved it.
The reception and entertainment complex is in the middle of the park which means its close to all the caravans. The staff were all very helpfull and friendly.
Though the caravan was nice and clean, there were alot of ants. There was a note left saying due to the weather and location theres lots of ants. It would have been easy for them to leave some traps and thats why Ive not ranked it 5 stars.

Both outside and Inside pools were clean, though there was not family changing rooms.

The local spar was overpriced as you would imagine but the bars and takeaways on site werent too bad.

The park is a short walk from Bowleze cove which has a nice little arcade and rides and great fish and chip place.

You can get a bus from just outside the park down to the promenade though it was never on time and was jammed packed, though much cheaper than parking.

I would defo recommend this park and have already rebooked our next stay for 7 nights.

we booked for 4 nights then at the last min decided to go sat & sun and made it 6 nights. and glad we did we had a fantastic time, yeah we couldnt check in until 4 but it states that! so we had a few drinks in the bar whilst the kids played in the arcade then had a lovely meal then checked into the caraven. entertainment was brilliant the kids loved it, we went out every night kids went to the kids club in the mornings (same staff) swimming in the afternoon etc. couldnt fault it would recommend it to family & friends at the end of the day its what you make of it! people who say its rubish must have very boring lives. well done to the haven crew.....

“We booked a 4 night stay at Haven Seaview, but only...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 12/05/2010

We booked a 4 night stay at Haven Seaview, but only managed to stay for one night and promptly left at 7am the next morning. Our hearts sunk the minute we drove in to the site, and we were greeted by a child throwing stones at passing cars, whilst his parents looked on. I would like to know what site Haven use in their advertisments, because it sure is not this one!. Where do I start!! They advertise a fun pool, but there is nothing fun about it, and its un-usable most of the time as they use it for lessons/activities which are first come first served. Our accomodation was surrounded by cigarette butts and discarded underwear hanging from the bushes. The caravan was suppose to be a superior and to be fair was quite clean inside, apart from the mattreses which were worn and stained. The main problem and the nail in the coffin came at night when we realised that there was no form of heating, (apparently heating is reserved for those who book a prestige caravan) We went to bed fully clothed with our hoods pulled up and two duvets each. It didnt help that there were air vents all over the caravan (2 in the kids bedroom) so there was a constant stream of cold air flowing through throuout the night. At one point I got up to check on my 4 year old and thought he was dead he was so cold, I put him in bed with my husband and I and his teeth were chattering all night in his sleep, he had also developed a nasty cough by the morning. We were so disappointed by the site, that we packed up and went home the next morning. oh and dont bother tying to call reception, as they take forever to answer the phone.

“We booked seaview after going to sevral other parks...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ron hancock on 10/10/2009

We booked seaview after going to sevral other parks Littlesea Great Yarmouth Mabelthorpe thinking park would be the same did we get a suprise,
We booked for a month in october after two weeks befor going to wild duck in gt yarmouth as soon as we pulled onto site our hearts sunk must add we where in touring caravan.
the pitches where no more than mud patches as wrong ground sheets had been used and no checks made.
Straw had been laid down to cover the mud patches our first pitch was infested in fly's and very uneavon.
I am disabled and my wife had come out of hospital that day after operation on her leg so went to ask reception if we could upgrade to hard pitch the women dealing with us was usless and had no idea at all and said we could not move till we spoke to a lady tomorrow.
She said they had no hard pitches and could not move most where empty others with tents where having simler problems as did not want to pitch on a mud pitch.
We got moved next day no flys but could not use awning as again no grass just a muddy pitch.
I went swimming my wife came with me to watch as she could not swim becouse of her dressings she may have well have done the roof was leaking over swimming pool so badly she got wet the floor was just pudles to walk through so she ended up with wet clothes and wet feet after just 20 mins.
The changing cubicals where filthy my feet where dirty after getting changed i had to leave socks and shoes of till i could wash them back at caravan.
I must say the other sites we visited i was very impresed with this site i would not stay their for a night againe.
We paid for a month so as my wife could converless their hoping she could just relax their we came back home after 6 days totaly disapointed never been so glad to get back home please if you are going to consider this site please look at others first you will save a lot of heartache as everybody was complaining about the place.
as i said i took wife to converless she came home in tears after slipping on mud hurting her leg not good at all october 2009

With all due respect, if you are disabled and your wife had a leg operation the very same day you decided to drag a 1 tonne caravan to a touring site in wet October then what do you expect my friend?

This assuming I have interpreted your poorly spelt damning verdict of what is essence is a camp site in autumn is correct? You're grammar and spelling is treuly attrocious! Seriously, if you want to help people and offer valid advice, learn basic spelling so that all can appreciate the pro's and cons!!

“Just returned from a weeks Haven Holidays, Seaview...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/08/2009

Just returned from a weeks Haven Holidays, Seaview touring as a family of 5.
Very disappointed in amenities and pitch.
Ground very un even in places, paths surrounding pitches not tarmaced covered with rough and un-even stones and young children cannot ride on scooters bikes ect because of this.
Swimming pools very small and basic and closed during the day for swimming lessons ect.
No in-door slides flumes ect to keep older children entertained.
Too far from Weymouth beach and town, 10 min car drive and expensive parking in Weymouth.
My 3 lads aged 9, 13 and 15 were bored on site due to lack of amenities.
Will not be returning again to Sea view this site is too small and basic.

“This was the worse haven holiday that i have ever been...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by kelly braiha on 25/07/2009

This was the worse haven holiday that i have ever been on!!! We arrived at Seaview on the friday afternoon to find that our caravan was not ready, so we went to the amusements with the children which are both 2 and half years old.
when we later went back the they gave us our keys and off we went to find a caravan under these trees covered in birds poo and still had 2 cleaners in, they said to my friend and I, dont worry we were just cleaning your carpet and its just a little bit damp but you will be fine.So in we went with the children as the kids had been sitting down a long time in the car and were so excited we took there shoes off to be followed with them sneezing and coughing with soacking wet socks from the carpet which was saturated with water and so was the seating. so we decided to check out the bedrooms too, as you approached the first room there was this horrible smell of urine and the smell got stronger as you walked further to the end of the caravan, we had paid so much for this holiday we just looked at eachother and said that it was disgusting and there was no way we would stay here for a whole week so my friend and my mother who had also come with us went to reception were they said they were sorry and handed over another set of keys and asked us to look at this other caravan and to go back and let them know what we decided. well this other caravan was even worse and had a really morbed smell to eat by this time it was coming on for six o clock and both the children were tired and hungry and we still hadnt settled into anywhere by this time i was pretty annoyed, tired and angry so we just said thats it lets upgrade, so thats what we did but luckly one of the other guests had turned up and asked to be down graded as not all of his party had turned up so they gave us this caravan.
when we walked into this caravan and could not beleive our eyes to find that it was exactly the same as the standard but had a icrowave and looked totally different to what they show you in the haven brouchers (by different i mean older and smaller) so we un packed and took the kids over to eat which was finally done by half nine.
In the morning we decided to take the kids over to see roary to find that the tiger club is no longer there and that they only have these little cubs club for them which consisted of a few rattles and very very babyfied toys nothing that interest a 2 year old which is for half hour in the morning and thats it, there was no entertainment in the daytime and the evening as we were told by one of the haven mates that all the caberets started on the 24th july which was the week after.
I have to say that im so disgusted with this park from the dirty, damp and filthy caravans to absolutly no entertainment in the park at all i would never ever go back here again and would never recommend this to a friend i am quite happy too back and now need another holiday to get over this one.

“I too have booked a caravan holiday with Seaview...”

written by callum22 on 22/10/2008

I too have booked a caravan holiday with Seaview Caravan Holidays. I became suspicious when the caravan I booked is still showing being available for the week I booked.
I have made some enquiries and found a owner who's caravan is on the website. They advised me they have tried repeatedly to get their caravan removed from the website, but are unable to contact Seaview.
They advised me to contact Haven Devon Cliffs direct and speak to the general manager, I have not tried this yet as it is not really Havens problem.
Hope things can get sorted out but it does look very hopeful.

“I have booked a private caravan through Seaview...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dawnexley on 09/10/2008

I have booked a private caravan through Seaview caravans, for the half term week, although i have had email to confirm payment, i have not had any postal confirmation from them. As it states in their terms and conditions, when will this arrive, where will we pick the keys up from, what if their is a problem with the caravan?? I am getting worried as the time is nearing, i have countlessly rang them and left upteen messages, but nobody as got back to me.
I always use a different letting agency which as a very good customer care service. This time i went for the price.
Am i worying unnecessarily? Is anyone else in the same boat?

Hi, Glad to see you got a refund. You were luckier than us, We only lost our deposit. We did not pay the balance as we were unable to contact Seaview. They never confirmed they got the deposit and they never asked for the balance.

Dawnexley's Response to dawnexley's Review

Hi, the outcome regarding Seaview Holdiays, after 2 months I was refunded the full amount. eventually after numerous emails and correspondance with Bourne Leisure and 'owners exclusive' they returned my emails etc, Not 100% sure if the involvement of others carried any weight or if it was a genuine error with the middlemen i.e. paypoint, however in they was very apologetic, and as a gesture of good will, offered us one of their own vans, however we have not taken them up on their offer due to the fact normally for the past 6 visits to Devon Cliffs we have used 'Newhols' they are very efficient and their caravans are exceptionally well kept. It was a lesson well learnt, don't cut corners. Hope you get your money back, please let me know how things turn out. I would recommend you check out Newhols you will see all details of each caravan, availability and prices and where it is placed on the site - google it.

Hi Callum,
No Seaview cancelled my hol on the 13 October, as yet i have not received my refund it is 3 weeks since, it is now in the hands of my bank. I did manage to go to devoncliffs for the half term, I went with my usual 'letting agents Newmans' they are good and trustworthy, I should never have been tempted by a cheaper site. I have been advised by Haven to take the matter further. Seaview caravans have only 3 caravans on their site now. good luck, In future check out Newmans.

We went September 08 and had a lovely weekend at Seaview. I would recommend an upgrade to a Superior as we did and eat out. The food was quite poor, smash and powdered eggs were served?
Very close to Weymouth Bay which is free to use with your Haven passes and is a lovely park too a bit bigger in fact. 10 mins from Bowleaze Cove which is stunning and about 15mins from Weymouth beach and town. Overall a good place to stay with the kids for a short weekend.
Pool is quite small though.
