I have a 2014 Royal C5 Classic. I am in Pennsylvania, USA. I have been riding for 45 years on many different brands of bike and 107 horsepower to 8 horse. This is my first RE. I studied at great length before buying. I recommend the same to anyone considering an RE. It has very little horsepower and as such is a disappointment to many bikers. This bike does not want to be rushed, raced, speed shifted, et. It is only at home on slower, twisty back roads at or under 100k or 55/60 mph. But at that speed I don't think it can be beat. The feel and sound of the single, long stroke engine can hypnotize the rider. And the rider can't escape the feeling of riding a bike with such history. With the new hydraulic valves, fuel injection, catalytic converter and computerized ignition I think younger riders may think this bike can compete with the "pocket rocket" bikes and that is where the bad reviews come from. If the buyer knows what he is buying I suspect there will be many pleasant miles ahead.

The history of this bike is quite amazing, a real classic 1950s bike made up until 2008. Unfortunately emission laws have finally killed the classic Bullet but that does not stop my glowing recommendation of them. I've owned my Classic Bullet 500cc for a few years and it has provided me with nothing but enjoyment. I've learned about motorcycle maintenance, and I truly feel comfortable riding a machine that I know how to work on. A well taken care of Bullet will reward you in many ways. This is real motorcycle ownership. If you like the looks of an old bike, but just want to push a button and go, look elsewhere, maybe a soulless new Triumph Bonneville.
