“Only interested in making the sale”

★★★☆☆

written by on 29/10/2012

I saw a pair of heeled brogue shoe boots for £70 which I really loved. I have bunions so I need wide fitting shoes. The 7 (my usual size) was way too tight but the salesguy said that an 8 would do the trick and, although I was a little dubious, he said he would order them in and I decided to give them a try. I returned on the date I was told to but they hadn't bothered to order them and I had to go back again a week later. When I finally got to try the larger size they seemed, as I had thought they would be, too big. The salesgirl persuaded me that a pair of leather liners (at a cost, I think of around a tenner) would make them fit, so I duly purchased both shoes and liners at around £80. I did really like the shoes, however, the liners made very little difference, and being leather made my feet slide around inside the shoes. I tried packing the toes and using heel grips but by the end of the day my feet were excruciating and I could barely walk. I've probably worn the shoes about 3 or 4 times and they've ended up in the back of the cupboard. At £80 that works out at around £15-£20 per wear - hence my low score for value for money. Probably poor judgment on my part you might say, but they really pushed those shoes and I got the impression that the "sales" part of their job description was way, way more important than the "service" part. They won't be getting my custom again.

“They do not comply with Distance Selling Regs”

★★★☆☆

written by Portobelly on 01/09/2011

I have bought a few pairs of Jones shoes online and, although I've had no problems with the quality, I have occasionally had to return shoes that don't fit. Be aware that, under UK Distance Selling Regulations, you are legally entitled to a refund of the initial delivery charge as well as the cost of the shoes. The delivery charge to Portugal is £17.50 much higher than other stores I might add!), they must refund the £17.50 as well as the cost of the shoes. On every occasion that I have returned shoes I have had to ask them to refund the delivery charge 'as is my statutory right'! They do not do this automatically which they should!! Unfortunately many people are unaware of this so I'm sure they are getting away with ripping people off. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS under Distance Selling Regulations! Do not let internet retailers rip you off!

“Jones is a good shop for nice looking leather shoes. ...”

★★★★☆

written by The Hooded Claw on 22/03/2004

Jones is a good shop for nice looking leather shoes. I have had a couple of pairs. However, one fault is that on the heels there are bands of leather around the heel to make it look as thought the heel is solid leather. However, these are veneer strips and they begin to peel off, revealing a rubber core. You are left with heels with bits of leather flapping or you can rip them off. Either way isnt the best!
