“Incompatibility with Win10 contributed to crashing my pc”

★☆☆☆☆

written by PublicDefender on 02/02/2017

Incompatibility with Windows 10 contributed to crashing my harddrive. Panda Technical "Support" acknowledged this and suggested reloading Windows as a possible fix! Reloading the OS to make their lousy software work! I've written repeatedly to Customer Service (sic) and they won't reply; they just keep sending the same tech reply through Tech support. And this was my 2nd year as a paid user. AVOID at all costs!

“too many problems for the price”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hunterey370 on 27/01/2016

10/05/15 I paid $300.00 for a lifetime plan with Premium Technical Support. 11/24/15 after receiving prompts that updates for applications I had been using were being blocked, I contacted Panda who said I needed to download Panda 2016. 12/28/15 my computer froze up with a blue screen & after shutting down, unplugging then contacting Panda they told me my problem was not covered & additional money was required. I told them to uninstall & I have had no problems since. I would not recommend this program to ANYONE!

“Too slow and Customer service is a joke!!! AVOID!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by vladyslava on 26/10/2012

Bought it recently as it was on offer, installed and my browsing experience became a nightmare. Emailed them on numerous occasions, they tried to resolve, which i appreciated and tried to go for, but it changed nothing. Asked for a refund, and then it all began. They requested some details of where and when i bought their security system, to which i responded about 5 times, then they sent me exactly same emails and said that the case is now being closed as i never responded. I doubt very much they didn't get my replies, as i still kept receiving their identical emails. Very unsatisfied customer, not to mention i haven't even used their product for 5 days, but still paid for it, and been ignored and left with no product and no refund. Would never again even think of using their services or products!!!

“I would not recommend installing this product. Most of...”

★★☆☆☆

written by Pleiades on 11/12/2008

I would not recommend installing this product. Most of the time it's fine (after all, it's supposed to run in the background and not be noticed). Once, however, the auto-update failed and required me to manually download and install the full client. It manifestly failed to do so, citing the fact that a previous uninstall hadn't finished. After trying everything tech support suggested, including editing Registry entries, I had to concede defeat and opted for AVG's free scanner.

On my other PC, again the program worked relatively quietly in the background (whilst consuming a vast amount of RAM it has to be said). When it came to the end of the subscription however I was bombarded with 'information alerts' on the desktop that I couldn't find a way to stop (there's an option to turn them off but it obviously doesn't apply to those ones)! That, along with the emails stating how I *must* re-subscribe *now* to even use the program at all (surely I should be able to use it even without virus & program updates if I so wish?) made me make the decision to uninstall and try something else.

Not impressed.

Whatsthis's Response to Pleiades's Review

Written on: 24/07/2009

I found this review helpful because I too have been having trouble with the firewall. Keeps sending me messages I don't understand and pop ups remind me that I need to enable firewall and I have clicked on Yes a hundred times by now. I have emailed them twice. Second time they have not answered, first time took about 4 days before I got a reply which was completely unhelpful.

“I purchased Panda Internet Security 2007 via Internet...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jim42561 on 04/09/2007

I purchased Panda Internet Security 2007 via Internet download in June, 2007. I had tried Panda's online scans and was impressed - so impressed that I decided to replace the McAfee products on my Vista Ultimate-running laptop and, later, on my XP Media Edition desktop. Upon completing installation on the laptop everything was great - for about thirty minutes, at which point I lost connectivity to the Internet. I isolated each component until I pinned down the firewall. Disabling Panda's firewall and using the Windows firewall allowed me access to the Internet (after rebooting, of course). The problem is that you are paying for the firewall, too, when you purchase Panda's Internet Security suite. Then I made a foolish error - I emailed Panda Customer Support. The first response failed completely to address my complaint, instead addressing an issue that I had indicated was already avoided - I had already disabled the previously used firewall before installing Panda. The second response was friendly, asking if any previous anti-virus software had been installed. That was the last I've heard from Panda. My sources tell me that Spain is still in existence, yet one would not know if Panda was any indication, save the constant pop-ups urging me to renew/upgrade to the 2008 version. No responses from any of my emails since early July (it is now the beginning of September). The XP machine didn't even get that far - after installing Panda the machine locked up repeatedly at the login screen and I had to do a system restore from Safe Mode to save the machine. After uninstalling Panda I have no access problems, no error boxes, no Blue Screens of Death, and no lockups. During the uninstall Panda asks you to fill out a customer satisfaction survey. For their sake I hope somebody reads them. It's a shame that some good programming work is being wasted by poor tech support.

Written on: 11/08/2008

I've been using Panda for several years and thought nothing of it when it came time to renew to the 2008 version. I'd bought a new Dell laptop with Vista and needed a security program. But since installation I have had terrible access to Internet and most times I cannot do any 'surfing' for information on linked sites. It has been a nightmare trying to figure out what the problem is. I have had 2 different Tech people to the house to work on this and they both say my problems are connected to Panda. So far I have not heard back from Panda as to how I should proceed. A disappointing service and security system for me.

“I recently bought a PC and requested that Panda...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Idlejim on 09/06/2007

I recently bought a PC and requested that Panda Internet Security 2007 and Panda Antivirus + Firewall 2007 come bundled with it. I did not realise at the time that the latter product superseded the former. I had problems installing the products anyway - the versions that came bundled with the computer were not Vista-compatible and as my PC's OS was Vista, they would not install.

I contacted my PC supplier, as really they should have seen better than to bundle incompatible software, and they suggested I contact Panda directly, so I did, and downloaded and registered Panda Antivirus + Firewall 2007 from Panda's website. I then downloaded Panda Internet Security 2007 and realised that it had all of the functions of Panda Antivirus + Firewall 2007 plus some extra ones, so I installed and registered that instead.

I contacted Panda to explain I had registered for both products at once and a customer service representative kindly transferred my Panda Antivirus + Firewall 2007 subscription over to Panda Internet Security 2007, giving me two years' subscription. I was impressed that Panda had done this.

However, the program seems to have numerous glitches that have led me to uninstall it and replace it with a rival product. Firstly, when the computer boots up, it takes a long time before Panda Internet Security 2007 is finished readying itself - I have a high-spec PC (Intel Dual Core E6700, 4Gb RAM), but the program still takes over 30 seconds to get up and running. When I ran a diagnostic program on Vista it informed me that the Panda Internet Security 2007 takes over 30 seconds to boot up. After the 30 seconds, a yellow box appears at the bottom right of the screen saying "New Network Detected". For the first week or so I would click on "Connect to Network" or "Select Network" or whatever it says, and it would work fine, but before too long I would get an error message.

The error message said: "Access violation at address 39A43EE3 in module 'PProMg.dll'. Write of address 044450B7."

I would click OK, then try again, and it would usually work, but after two or three boot-ups it would stop working altogether. Each time I would uninstall Panda Internet Security 2007, for which, frustratingly, I would need to download a special program that blocks scripts and provides a clean uninstall, and reinstall it. Then of course I would need to update the program. The whole process required several restarts and took over 30 minutes.

The program would then typically work fine for a few days, before the above error message would appear again, inexplicably. There didn't seem to be any direct cause, it just happened after a while. However, last week, on perhaps my fifth reinstall, when I installed Panda Internet Security 2007 I was unable to connect to my wireless router. This of course meant I could not update the program, which rendered it useless. Enough is enough, I thought, and fully uninstalled the program with no intention of reinstalling it.

I have since spent £40 on Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 and have so far been very impressed - there is no 30-second wait on boot-up, updates run smoothly and quickly, and the program has superior detection rates and update frequency. It is more expensive, but in this instance it looks like you really do get what you pay for.

Why is Panda Internet Security 2007 plagued with these problems? Is an update going to rectify these issues in the near future? Was the Vista-compatible version rushed out before it was really ready? Are these problems (particularly the specific error message) common or unique to me?

I now have two years' subscription that I will not be using - I am hoping for a refund on the cost of the subscription, as Panda Internet Security 2007 on Windows Vista is simply not fit for purpose.

“I Recently (within the past 18 hours) wasted over...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by kharhlevans on 27/02/2007

I Recently (within the past 18 hours) wasted over seventy dollars downloading Panda Internet Security 2007 to find out that it is infested with bugs and leaves you without a possible way to connect to the internet (with the exception of uninstalling the program altogether), although not being able to connect to the internet at all is in fact the greatest way to protect one's computer from nasties, I wanted to be able to surf the internet with peace of mind; instead I was left with a piece of something else. In futile efforts to elucidate my getting ripped off I attempted all of the possible solutions listed in Panda's knowledge dump. All in all I had to uninstall the program many times, download the "newest version' which ended up being the exact same file (using up my hard drive space), obtain a new driver, attempt to contact them, re-install, uninstall, etc... All of my attempts to contact them either by telephone, e-mail, or their auto submission on their website were in vain (for some reason the user name and password I was given do not work on their website and they wont respond to my e-mails). It seems as though there is absolutely no one working for Panda. I had only found good reviews of this product before I downloaded it and after I installed and got savagely vexed at Panda Internet Security 2007 I found a multitude of reviews that exclaimed the program as horrid.
Worst of all this program cost me $70 dollars. I should have just gotten NOD32, would've been cheaper and needless to say working.

“I have been using Panda Platinum Internet Security...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by lottie964 on 08/08/2005

I have been using Panda Platinum Internet Security since February 2005, and before that Panda Platinum 7.0, which was installed as a three month trial when I bought my new computer. Having found Panda Platinum 7.0 to be excellent at protecting my computer and very user friendly, I decided, at the end of the three months to continue using Panda. Unfortunately, by this time Panda Platinum 7.0 was 'old hat' and no longer available, and so I purchased the nearest thing to it that I could find, Panda Platinum Internet Security. For almost five glorious months I had no problems with it at all, despite using the internet via a university LAN in my halls of residence (known to be hotbed of viruses). I used the internet heavily, but my computer remained uninfected until one terrible day in late June, when I was, ironically NOT using a university LAN, but a relatively safe, domestic broadband one. Having opened a routine e-mail, I got a pop-up message from Panda, informing me of a spy ware infection (whether this was due to the e-mail I don't know). Although the spy ware was then 'neutralised' and the computer 'disinfected' automatically by the software, from then on, I have experienced problems. To begin with, sometimes when I switched my computer on, I would be informed by a pop-up that the protection was 'low' and the automatic file protection was disabled, even though I hadn't altered any settings on the software. At first this seemed a minor problem, and restarting the computer would often rectify it. However, the problem only got worse and became increasingly frequent, with every single component on the list (automatic file, firewall, anti-spy ware, anti-dialler, and anti-spam protection as well as web content filtering) ALL disabled on almost every start-up, regardless of how many times I had restarted or clicked the 'enable' button! I became convinced that this must be due to a virus, so, having declared war on the problem, I got to work, and began to scan the 'Whole System'. Except, therein lay yet another gremlin...the scan froze, and the computer helpfully informed me that it was 'not responding'. Since then every attempt to scan any part of the computer for viruses has been to no avail. I eventually had to resort to 'Panda Active Scan' on the company's website to put my mind to rest. This proved my computer to be virus free apart from two spy ware items, which I deleted myself (and may have, to be fair, unable to be detected by my older version of Panda, despite the daily updates). However this did not solve to problem. In despair I e-mailed panda (two weeks ago now) via their tech-support address. I have still not had a reply. Incredible, when you consider that technical support is supposedly included in the package. At my wits end, a week later, I reinstalled the software. On the first attempt this didn't work. Before the second attempt I dredged the computer, removing any trace of any free web software or other antivirus software that could be upsetting it. Finally, having also done a disk cleanup and defragmented, I felt that the computer was in peak condition, and that now was as good a time as any to try the installation again. I waited with baited breath as the computer restarted after the installation... it still hadn't worked. Unbowed I tried a third time. This proved to be third time lucky.... well, sort of. The truth of the matter is that, it isn't really fixed after all, just not quite as bad. Every other time I switch on my computer, it still complains that it 'could not load the automatic file protection' and on checking the status, the automatic file protection (thought thankfully none of the other features - so far) is disabled. A week after the first e-mail (having still had no response from the first), I e-mailed them again, but this time through the tech support page of the website. Or at least I attempted to. I obediently filled in the online form. On reaching 'select you product' (or something to that affect) I clicked the down pointing arrow to access the drop-down menu. But no menu appeared. Refusing to be put off, I entered the exact name of the product in the 'version' box instead. I clicked the send button; only to find that this was not possible I had not filled in all the required boxes. I tried again but with no success. Not to be beaten, I painstakingly noted down all the fields from the webpage, and filled them in on an ordinary e-mail. I sent it off with a detailed description of the problem, and I STILL haven't received a reply, or even an acknowledgement. Conveniently for Panda, I cannot afford to call the tech support phone line, (a 090 number). I have however, received an unconnected e-mail from Panda, telling me of a special offer regarding the latest version of the product. Customer support my not be their forte, but marketing clearly is. As for the new version, I am now in two minds as to whether or not to upgrade. With six months subscription left on my current software, I cannot afford, as a student to waste half a year's subscription, which was included in the package, by changing to another company's product. However to keep the remaining six months I would have to switch to another Panda product, and I'm not sure if I want to take that risk. For the time being at least I am left with three equally unsatisfactory options: 1) Carry on until my Panda software expires and becomes 'extinct', 2) 'Feed' the Panda company just a bit more 'eucalyptus' to get the new version, and keep my computer happy, 3) Send the Panda 'back to the jungle', and get an antivirus program from another company, losing six months subscription. You have been warned.... this Panda can be an exceedingly temperamental animal

I have had a problem with Panda Platinum causing my Epson USB scanner to hang up - Their Technical Support page 'product selection' box still isn't working about a month later.

219432_Zzzoomer's Response to lottie964's Review

Written on: 03/12/2005

After reading the reviews, I have two pieces of information to offer. But, first let me say that I am NOT a Panda user and am only gathering info to determine if I want to be one. If I were experiencing these problems with Panda (or any other Internet Security Software company), I would: 1) now connect to trendmicro.com (or another of the Internet Security Websites) to run a free Virus/AntiSpyware scan. I have had problems in the past with Norton after the subscription had lapsed and was able to clear it in this way. 2) I ALWAYS purchase online with a Visa or Mastercard credit card - this gives me protection from under-handed merchants not fulfilling their commitments. In this case considering that I have purchased the product with a charge card, I would a) send an email to any and all email addresses provided on their website for support/customer service/tech support informing them that the product is not working as described in their sales literature. b) in the email I would be sure to include my customer identification number (or whatever Panda has assigned to me to show I have paid their fees and am a registered subscriber to their services). c) in the email I would also include the dates I have unsuccessfully tried to contact them. d) in the email I would include the statement: "if I do not receive a response from Panda Technical Support concerning this issue by" a date that is one week in the future "I will be contacting my charge card company to reverse any and all fees I have paid your company." This action will either get their attention or give me the basis for recovering the fees I have paid for a non-performing product. If Panda does not contact me by the date specified in the email, I would contact my charge card provider to begin dispute proceedings - I will need to be able to identify the date and amount of the charge for the software license from Panda from my charge card statement and provide a copy of the email I sent to Panda threatening a chargeback. Copies of my other emails to Panda with dates and times would need to be available in case my charge card provider felt they would be beneficial to my case. Remember: Since the software was probably purchased online, there is no receipt with my signature saying I agree to any particular conditions and therefore cannot be held accountable for any special conditions of the sale. I purchased the software expecting it to work as described and it does not. End of story!

If my charge card provider blew me off and would not start chargeback proceedings, I would contact Visa or Mastercard (whatever the case may be) and register a complaint concerning my charge card provider. The information I have offered in this response lines up with Visa and Mastercard standard rules - every merchant that is able to accept Visa and Mastercard must sign a contract saying they agree to these rules. This I know -I work in the credit card industry for a merchant services provider and have personally performed this action 3 times in the past year. Each time I have been successful in recovering my money. I hope this helps those who read it.

Pandas eat bamboo, not eucalyptus. Perhaps you were thinking of koalas. I would not try putting bamboo in my computer either, though.

Peter Williams's Response to lottie964's Review

Written on: 11/10/2005

This is the identical response, or lack of one that I am experiencing. My Platinum Security has ceased to update and I am being told that. My services expired 71 days ago despite having renewed them in December 2004 for one year. I too received the offer to upgrade to Titanium=Antispyware 12 months and (perhaps you may think, unwisely) took them up on the offer, paid for it and attempted to download. The download detected the Platinum and stalled, asking me to uninstall it before continuing with the new download. AT this point, for it is as far as I have been able to get,up pops a box telling me that it is unable to detect the support file. I do not know what this means as I am a 'silver surfer' so I attempted to contact Panda Tech Support in the way described 3 times, even threatening legal action as they have my money and I have no protection, and received no reply as yet. Can anyone tell me if this company is still trading or is it simply a money box? I can't even get rid of the damned thing as It won't uninstall. I have since gone back to AVG free edition which seems to do the job properly. It may be that my problem is computer derived and not Panda but a simple reply to that effect would have helped.
