“Rude customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Swift2986 on 23/05/2019

I had to cancel my holidays and I’ve been told that I would get the refund for the rails but not for the hotel. But then they offered less than the money I paid for the train tickets. Never again.

“Avoid Superbreak at all costs!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 11/12/2017

Please read this review and avoid SuperBreak for any planned trips. I booked with this company 7 months in advance of my planned trip so everything could be arranged early, to avoid disappointment. The trip was a special celebration, was important to me and included rail travel instead of flights, for something different. We were very specific about requirements and SuperBreak completely failed to deliver this remit. A special trip was completely ruined before it even started due to SuperBreak incompetence. They made no effort to make up for their shortcomings despite numerous phone calls to get things sorted. Don't ruin your holiday plans. Go elsewhere.

“How to waste a well intentioned gift”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Delaney256 on 29/11/2017

Superbreak needs renaming Superconbreak. Only eleven hotels to choose from throughout Britain and only couple within feasible travelling distance for duration of one night only in Midlands. Had to be booked on certain nights only and two weeks in advance and were always fully booked on dates we were able to go, as my husband has been undergoing operations and treatment for cancer all year, and to extend costs £20. Impossible to speak to anyone directly about problems booking. One hotel in reality cost £55 when voucher had cost £100. Ended up swapping to cheaper pub break and losing £16 pounds. It turned out to be like a night at Fawlty Towers and was yards away from main railway line. It was dated and worn. Our bedside lamps were broken, hooks missing so curtain hung off rail, wardrobe creaked with every step on floor, mould on shower and not even a box of tissues or any sign of luxury and they wanted an extra £8 for having a twin room needed because of my husband's condition (which they did waver when I expressed my disgust). Breakfast felt like a complete shambles, no teaspoons or side plate and the sausage worryingly barely cooked. We have stayed in many hotels and guest houses and have had better accommodation at a Days Inn in the South for £49.

“You rely on these websites to provide you with good...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Alysha222 on 18/11/2017

You rely on these websites to provide you with good value for money and it is cheaper to book your packages separately. Disgusted in the fact that they label their packages as ‘special offers’ when you go on the official websites for the hotels and excursions and they are cheaper there. I will not be using this site again and I suggest no one else does either.

“2x the price of booking direct”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 484Schroeder on 06/05/2017

No value provided whatsoever. For package deals, they attempt to get away with non-itemised billing to try to hide their extreme markups. The 100% Non-refundable policy you'll notice on their website's hotel listings is clearly their policy, not the hotels'. Book your two-day and three-day breaks DIRECT. Use SB and other sites like it to search for specific hotels but be wary of booking anything through them. The hotel will often give you a much better room rate and perks – and they're much more likely to give you a 100% refund/cancellation guarantee at no extra costs to you, even up to a day before your date of arrival. Never again for us. Speaking with them directly yields nothing, they are inflexible about any ill-gotten gains. You've earned all these bad reviews, SuperBreaks!

“Refers to Welcombe Hotel, Stratford Upon Avon.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 30/01/2017

Have since made written omplaints about the service in my booking and stay at the Hallmark Welcombe hotel, Stratford Upon Avon, between Friday 20th January 2017 to Sunday 22nd January 2017. 1. Despite my clear written booking request for there to be a twin bedded room we were given a room with a double bed. 2. When I queried the incorrect double bed room with the hotel reception, I was immediately told that they had got my booking down as a double room before verifying the original booking. This was further humiliating to me because it made me wonder if I had booked a double room or indeed if Super Break had conveyed the correct twin bed details to the hotel. 3. The hotel receptionist agreed with my request for her to escalate my complaint to the hotel management but there was no response from them to me. 4. The twin bedded room we were then given needed time for the staff to make up the beds. 5. The twin bedded room allocated to us was considerably inferior to the double bedded room the hotel gave us, as it was much smaller and had less pleasing views. 6. Despite my written request for a quiet room we were given a twin bedded room 318 next to a noisy main air-conditioning unit. The noise level was terribly exasperated by being put in a noisy part next to a room of young women who were talking until around 3am which kept us awake. I went down to the hotel reception at 2am and reported this to the Hotel Night Manager and although he then went and spoke to the young women concerned in their hotel room about this, the noise persisted. I should not have to drive 150 miles home in a car the next day on a total of around 2 hours sleep. 7. Despite the Super Break team advertising that the first night's evening meal was included in the hotel tariff I had paid, on checking out a hotel receptionist gave me a written bill demanding an extra £70 for this meal. The £70 additional amount was later entirely removed following my complaint and a rectified invoice was issued.

Bought theatre tickets and charged £62 for tickets with value of £39. Given wrong advice about location of seats completely ruining my 7yr olds birthday treat. Superbreaks response - blame travel agent and the mark up is fine 55% profit!

“Superbroke after Superbreak”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Deeziner1 on 12/02/2015

Following a communication mix up I booked a railbreak on the wrong dates. As the break was two months away I called SB 12 hours later to amend from a Tuesday to a Thursday. After speaking to three customer service agents and the hotel, I did manage to change the hotel (the hotel helped immensely in this)but I was told the train tickets were non refundable. I subsequently found out I could have got cheaper tickets directly with National Rail in the first place. I have used Superbreak many times in the past admittedly not recently but I am totally disillusioned with them now. A two day break in London has cost me in excess of £700!!!

“royal national hotel woburn st london”

written by avs1234 on 16/12/2014

We stayed at royal national hotel in London on 12 December _14 December 2014 we woke up on Saturday morning to find the room door open when we checked £80 had been stolen from Our room while we were sleeping the manager just dismissed our complaint (saying it was our fault if we left door open) We couldn't have left door open because it was on a heavy spring and slammbed shut when we asked about security he said they don't come on till 1pm I asked about security cameras in corridors he said there wasn't any we said someone had to have a card key like ours to get in he said if someone used a card to get in ours would become invalid which is rubbish because the maid c a me in with t h her card and ours still worked he was a very arrogant man and just dismissed our concerns it was frightening to think someone had been in our room while we slept I will never stay there again and will tell everyone about our stay at the hotel I'm disgusted

“Superbreak = Superheartbreak”

★☆☆☆☆

written by biMadden376 on 06/12/2014

Booked a break originally through Thomson Travel Agent, Aberyswyth with Superbreak. I simply asked to see if i could change the dates of my break to Barcelona with them (2 months in advance of departing) to a later date next year, quite prepared to pay an amendment fee. Their reply was 'sorry it is not our policy on this holiday'.) £500 loss to me. Complete lack of empathy, or customer service, being any priority to the employee who i dealt with what so ever. Steer well clear at all costs!

“Super stress!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ladyonholiday on 28/10/2014

I made a phone booking for a two-night Eurostar break in Paris for three of us, all adult women, four weeks in advance of travel dates. Warning bells should perhaps have rung when I received a confirmatory email with no reference to the Eurostar booking, but an amendment followed quickly. On paper, everything seemed to be in place. However, on the day, we arrived at St Pancras to discover we could not use the automated check-in; no Eurostar booking had been made. Heroic work on the phone by a Eurostar employee who held for over 20 minutes, waiting to get through to Superbreak, resulted in an upgrade to Premier class, but on a later train that day. I spoke to the Superbreak employee who dealt with it, and she told me the new tickets were costing almost £1,000 - as if I should be grateful! When we finally reached our hotel, we found they had expected a couple and baby. We were squeezed in, into three single beds with no space between them and bang up against the wall (an upgrade followed the next day). For our return journey, we had only one booked seat - Eurostar operates an overbooking system, allowing for a proportion of 'no shows'. So two of us had to roam the train after it started, looking for seats where no one had turned up, or use tip-up seats by the doors. Eurostar was very helpful, the hotel was apologetic and helpful. All the problems were a result of Superbreak's inefficiency.

“Beware of superbreaks,”

★☆☆☆☆

written by T14eal on 28/10/2014

I booked a special weekend away with my local travel agent, who deal with superbreaks. It was a 3 night break to lisbon in a 5* hotel. We arrived on thurs evening with all the paper work, booking voucher, CONFIRMATION, receipts, insurance, atol protection, etc,etc to be told by reception they had no booking for us and were completely full. Eventually we were sent up the road to another hotel for 1st night and booked into original hotel for fri and sat. All very stressful and upsetting. The hotel gave me a copy of their email corespondence with superbreaks which showed them having emailed the hotel, but not receiving any response must have either over looked or assumed the booking was made?? The hotel said they never received any booking? But who knows. When we got home our travel agent tried for a decent sum of compensation but after a few emails and a number of weeks had passed a mean sum of £250 was offered by superbreaks. Very poor considering what the weekend cost we wasted a lot of our time moving from hotel to hotel, BEWARE of this company.

“Theatre breaks”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ColinAnd on 28/05/2014

don't book a theatre break with super break!1 Their so called Top Price tickets are not top price. From what I can see searching other ticket suppliers they are calling 2nd lowest tickets top price. They wont confirm your ticket at booking just telling you its a top one. This means that when your ticket arrives not only do you find its not a premium seat but you have been vastly over charged for the hotel. much cheaper to book Hotel and tickets separately. Don't fall for this.

“Terrible! Never booking with them again”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Lebray on 09/12/2013

We booked onto the Eurostar through Superbreak and received our confirmation and realised we had been booked onto a train in the evening when we specifically booked the morning train. Called Superbreak and was told that we must have clicked the wrong time and that we definitely could not be issued a refund or change the times. We called Eurostar direct and was told that there shouldn't be a problem changing the time as the tickets haven't been paid for yet, only provisionally held. When we confronted Superbreak about this they then offered to change the booking but only at an additional charge of £90+vat. After feeling ripped off, lied to and generally unloved we decided to cancel our whole booking :(

For Heaven's sake do not get your tickets lost or stolen because they could not careless if you were stranded! Our bag, which had our tickets home inside, was stolen. When we rung up Superbreak they couldn't give a toss. The person on the phone just said "Buy new tickets" and then hung up without another word. We will not be using Superbreak again.

My mother, who was with me, actually emailed you on her iPad about it on 27/8/2013 and got the same response.

One line: Can't help you.

Telephone call on the same day got the same reaction.

Dad at home tried on the same day same response again. "Can't help you".

At the very least you can trace the email. You MUST be aware that this goes on.

“SUPERBREAKS - NOT A GOOD DEAL!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 25/09/2013

Unfortunately, I decided to book a theatre break in London with SUPERBREAK. I paid £418 for 2 people for a one night stay in the capital, including standard return rail fare, a top price theatre ticket and budget hotel with bed and breakfast. This price included a £20 discount - autumn discount. My thoughts were that as I was getting top price theatre tickets it would be well worth it. When I received the tickets the face value was £72.50 each, which SUPERBREAK regarded as Top Price - best tickets are from £90 to £150. There were other websites where I could have booked the hotel and train fares cheaper because I was booking 2 months in advance. SUPERBREAKS state they are competitive but next time I would look at alternative websites who offer better value for money and would not be taken in by the so called 'top price' theatre tickets.

I'd like to point our that there is a difference between Top Price and Premium tickets, with Premium tickets selling at a higher value for some performances. Regards, Kirstie @ Superbreak
