Ordered a voucher pack as a last minute birthday gift, paid extra for next day delivery as I needed gift gif the Sunday on the payment section it states if ordered before 2pm it would be delivered via dpd the next day…it turned up on the Wednesday a whole 5 days after it was ordered when. Emailed on the Saturday asking why it hadn’t arrived I received a reply on the Tuesday saying as it was bank holiday the Tuesday was next day delivery (ok 4 days for next day delivery was not what I paid for!) especially as I received other parcels via dpd all over the weekend, then it still didn’t arrive until the Wednesday morning but still not willing to accept they are wrong and refund me the money! Ruined our son in laws birthday present and still trying to say it wasn’t their fault! All I asked for was the next day delivery to be refunded not the whole thing as we still wanted the vouchers but they are refusing

The person on helpline did their best to help and we got there in the end but the instructions in the pack were inaccurate and misleading. The scratch off panel did not clearly show the numbers and I subsequently found out this is no longer required as validation because of this problem. No-one else would realise this without having to contact provider! It wasn't clear whether experience had to be booked as soon as validation occurred or not. I'm sure the experience in itself will be wonderful and am looking forward to it, but the procedure to get there is frustrating, misleading and time consuming.

Web site instructions differ from instructions on card, not many activities where local to me. when I had to cancel one activity the value of my activity was reduced by half.( I did complain) although a great idea for a present Not good value for money at all

I am concerned to hear that your voucher's value was reduced by half after you cancelled an activity. If the experience was to be cancelled, and the supplier was happy to rebook, we would certainly not reduce the voucher's value by half. I booked a double treatment for my partner and I at the Millbank Bannatyne Spa with an Activity Superstore voucher I was given. The voucher was for £50 and I had to pay an additional £179 for the treatment (so £229 in total). I had a body wrap and a facial and quite simply it is not worth the money. I have been to quite a number of Spa's around the world and this does not come anywhere close. The therapists were very pleasant but very average or less. Activity Superstore were pretty good at changing the voucher to another activity but finding a suitable one is a challenge. I will not be using eith Activity Superstore or Bannatyne Spa again.

My husband received a voucher for a brewery day for two as a gift. It cost £99. First problem, only one available brewery for 2, all others were for one only! Not what it said on the voucher. The brewery in question only opened on Fridays ... sometimes, the man on the phone didn't sell the experience at all so we decided to speak to AS and see what we could do. £20 to upgrade to 'reduced price' boutique hotel experience, time marches on and again very limited number of 'boutique hotels' on offer and so had to extend voucher ... another £20. Eventually got to our hotel - had to go on a Thursday as nowhere would except the voucher for a Friday or Saturday night unless we booked another night ... no way, that would have been another £100+. The hotel was hardly 'boutique' either (but that's for another review) it would have been cheaper and less stressful to book with them direct. We have told friends and family not to use voucher companies in future - go direct to the business as most of them do gift vouchers.

To provide for all of these locations for potentially an 18 month period to use the voucher, as pricing with hotels fluctuate throughout the year, we do have to consider that in our own pricing .

My husband bought me a 'unique places to stay' voucher for christmas giving B&B for 2. This was a really thoughtful gift but turned out to be a nightmare to book. It's not easy to work out time away with 2 kids and you are required to book 2 weeks in advance. When we actually looked there were only 5 places within easy driving distance for us to go. 2 of them were windmills but the rooms were actually in motel-like buildings adjacent. None of the places were that 'unique' and when looking for reviews on trip advisor this showed that booking direct would be cheaper than the cost of the voucher. I tried to book one place but as soon as I said voucher her attitude changed to not very helpful and she failed to respond to the email she asked me to send. I then tried another place 2 days later and this time went to an activity superstore customer service advisor. He said he'd book and get back to me. This took more than 24 hours and then we had to pay £40 extra for a king sized bed. I agreed just to get it sorted. We've not even gone on our trip and I'm already cheesed off with the whole experience. Could have booked time away direct much more cheaply and easily with a lot more choice. Nice idea but not worth it due to limited choice and difficulties booking.

We also advise a booking lead time of 2 weeks to increase the likelihood of your desired date being available, especially if you are looking to book a weekend.
In regards to the Unique venues, I do apologise if they were not as you expected. Each of our locations available under this package have a unique selling point.
Furthermore, I am very sorry that the location you chose was cheaper to go directly. As a third party company we have to take into consideration other costs, such as packaging, distribution and VAT. Also as the voucher you hold is a 'Unique Places to Stay', we have to have a price that covers all 37 locations available within this pack.

Last year with an Activity Superstore Voucher my husband and I had an afternoon tea at Crewe Hall.In comparison Albrighton Hall, near Shrewsbury,was a great disappointment,for the following reasons: We booked for 4 but the table was only set for 2; We were told afternoon tea would be in the drawing room but was laid out in the bar; There was no atmosphere in the hotel-we were the only guests for afternoon tea; one got the impression that Albrighton Hall did not specialise in afternoon teas; Our 2 guests didn't get napkins; Tea bags were used rather than tea leaves; Quality of the food was not up to the standard of Crewe Hall. I would not be tempted to go to this venue for any reason in the future. In conclusion,it was a very disappointing experience.

Received the voucher Christmas 2010 and activated it in August 2011. One set of paperwork stated weekdays only, but when I rang I found I could book Saturdays! Arrived as required, 45 mins early and registered. Had the familiarisation laps (2) then waited over an hour and half for my turn in the Aston Martin. For £125 had an EIGHT minute drive! They are VERY strict about arriving and registering on time, but then keep you waiting. Additionally they rely on you being excited and being willing to pay for extra's like, Collision Damage waiver (Sensible), cancellation insurance,(When you book) an extra drive in another supercar for more cost.(Eventhough they give the impression everything is pre-booked down to the minute) for yourself or your spectators, A pen drive with a video of your drive £30, a photograph as you drive through a corner, £15 for first photo, or £25 for one photo and a dvd of other photo's. In my case this was 2 additional photo's. Since when did digital photo's and dvd's cost this much? Overall impression, of facilities/venue/rushed atmosphere, very greedy company out to make as much as they can as quickly as they can. Never again, and would never recommend this company.

I was given a couples comedy club night out voucher for Christmas. When I went to the website it didn't specify the venue just the towns you could book. Nothing in Berkshire where we live despite saying on the gift box that Berkshire was covered.
After reading the reviews on this website I didn't hold out much hope of a refund so I emailed customer services from the 'contact us' page asking what we could do. Miraculously they rang back within minutes and said I could take the gift box back to Boots where it had been bought from. My sister lives in Belgium and anyway it's always awkward asking to get a refund for a present so I went to our local Boots and explained the situation. Again miraculously they gave me a full cash refund without the receipt which I'm using to get tickets for a comedy show at our local theatre in March.
So I feel I got off lightly as I didn't have to send the gift voucher back but got the money back off the retailer.
I did mention trading standards in my email to activity superstore (ie saying Berkshire on the box and then no venues in Berkshire available) so maybe that's why they called back so quickly.
Anyway glad we're going to see a show and haven't had to go through hoops to book it. Did tell my sister and she was ok about it. So two stars for the call back but one star for lack of venue as advertised.
