Samsung Digimax 101

The Samsung Digimax 101 camera is value for money at the lower end of the price range. It has an excellent selection of abilities well suited to a much higher specification camera and produces excellent outdoor pictures. It is ideal for a digital "beginner". The User Manual is extremely well written and is quite "idiot proof" and a bit of time spent reading it through is well worth the effort.

However, the camera "eats" batteries and there is no reference in the Manual as to whether you can use re-chargeable batteries (which I now understand you can). The screen is impossible to see in bright outdoor conditions and is only useful if you want to check a photo you have just taken. Indoor photos need to be well lit as the flash power is not adequate. However, overall it is a multi function small neat camera which will give you a chance to "practice" digital qualities before moving on to a more intricate model camera.
