Hotel El Paso was an excellent hotel, very comfortable rooms, good food at the restaurants, the pool is fantastic. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Overall it was brilliant and we would go back if we could afford it!

When we were last there 3 years ago at the El Passo Hotel! The hotel was lovely but the reception staff. It will not stop me going back to this complex, it is wonderful for the children!

Had great time in hotel El Paso and parks. Beach club was great. Food good. Kids enjoyed so much that they want me to book again. Been to Orlando; with just 2 hour flight I enjoyed this just as much.

Hotel was informative, clean, fabulous location, wonderful facilities. I would recommend anyone wanting to maximise their holiday with visits to Theme Park and the wonderful Caribe Water Park to stay at El Paso. Had no involvement with Rep, does not seem to be any requirement for a rep at this hotel.

We visited Hotel El Paso, Universal Port Aventura Complex in June 2007, and were so impressed, came back and rebooked for the same week this year. When the kids are happy abroad then so are we. Last year we spent only £200 in spending money on top of our package price. The holiday was great value, the hotel was immaculate, as was the theme park and the water park. I would highly recommend this hotel (we did look round the other two at the resort but felt that this one was the most impressive).

Hotel El Paso is a great hotel, great holiday, wonderful gardens, swimming pool and Theme Park. Children are looked after by the children's club and Mini Disco is fantastic. Entertainment for all in the evening, very good groups booked - a must see!
Buses into Salou, which you could walk to. Easy access to buses to Tarragona, Barcelona.
My Mother being a wonderful Italian cook, said that the food was very good and you could always find lot's of things to eat and it was to a very high standard. This was my worry as I know what she was like eating out and I have to agree with every statement she said. I would have no hesitation of booking again, I normally go with my husband and daughter (21 years of age) but this time I took my Husband, Mother, Mother-in-Law and Farther-in-Law (all 79 years of age) and they said they all have such a wonderful time. So for young, middle-age and old it is a great place to go with lot's to see in the Hotel, Gardens, Theme Park, Salou, Cambrils, La Pienda, Tarragona.

On arrival at the Hotel El Paso in Salou at 10am, we went to check in, and we were given information on the complex from reception staff, but we were told we could not get our room until 3pm, so we had to wait in the lounge reception area, (we could have gone to the poolside, but never had swimwear or towels as they were still in the suitcases, and we had nowhere to change).
Once in the room we found it was clean, tidy and comfortable, and as in a previous review, "take an old store card to leave in the controls for the air conditioning". It was an excellent idea.
Good choice at breakfast and dinner buffets. Travelers cheques are NOT accepted for payment for drinks at the evening buffet at El Paso, and when cashing travelers cheques at reception (get them cashed first thing in the morning, before reception run out of cash) they took a small commission for cashing them. They could do with more receptionist/guest service staff on duty during the day to help with the backlog of customers.
The Poolside was good, but if you want your family (4) to be together at the poolside, get your sun loungers in the morning.
Going into Salou by taxi is cheaper for a family than going by the tram/train, but not as much fun or sightseeing.
The theme park was well equipped and good fun, and don`t miss the shows.
Costa Caribe water park was good, but it had little or no shade from the midday sun. We also had to pay for the hire of sun loungers (4 Euros each) and inflatable rings (8 Euros each; 3 of these are deposit).
A trip to Barcelona is highly recommended (Neu Camp stadium and the magic fountains).
All in all, we had a very good family holiday, and we would go back to the El Paso.

The Hotel El Paso in Salou is excellent! It was well worth the money. I went with my wife and grandson (aged 7) in May 2006 (12th - 19th), and we had the time of our lives. We have been to other theme type holidays e.g. Florida, and I can honestly say that this holiday was definitely on par with the good old U S of A.
The one thing that will stay with us longest is the sheer determination of the children's entertainment team to make sure the kids enjoyed their stay at the El Paso. Where the lead entertainer gets his energy from is beyond me! From morning to night you would see the team playing with the kids, where it was football by the pool or dancing competitions on the open air stage at night. It is definitely a hotel to take the kids. My grandson made loads of friends, and he was thoroughly exhausted at the end of each day.
We went half-board, and we were well pleased with the food being served. There was a good choice every day, and again, the kids were well catered for with chips, fish fingers and chicken nuggets etc. The self service food was hot and fresh, and it was topped up regularly.
One little 'niggle' was that at the beginning of the week it was a Spanish 'bank holiday' and they all seemed to want to eat at the El Paso, and the queues were annoying, but this was OK by the second day. Cartoon characters mingled with the diners at breakfast and evening meal, to the delight of the kids, and Woody Woodpecker, Olive Oil, Popeye, Pink Panther, Betty Boop, Shrek (and more) all went out of their way to make sure that everyone wanting a photo was given the opportunity.
The hotel rooms are cleaned daily (unless you do not want them to be), and the maids do an excellent job. The gardens around the complex are really nice and very well maintained without any disturbance to the guests. The pool is outstanding! Spotlessly clean, full of diligent and observant lifeguards, and the sunken galleon in the kids pool is an original touch. Loads of sun loungers (I would say there were more sun loungers than guests).
As part of the package, guests get automatic free entry to Port Aventura theme park, which again is excellent! However, there was that much going on in the hotel that we only went there twice, even though it is literally 5 minutes walk away. Having hotel passes allows you to walk right in without having to queue with paying visitors. Please remember to take 1 pass for EACH of you going into the park. We made the mistake of only taking one pass (which is your door key card), and although we were asked to produce three at first, a little pleading got us in. The El Paso is just a stone's throw away from Salou town (approximately 10 minutes away by taxi, which costs about 6 Euros for a family).
All in all, this was an excellent holiday, and I would strongly recommend it for those with kids.

We stayed at the Hotel El Paso on the Costa Doranda, and it was lovely. Clean rooms, friendly staff, clean dinning area with excellent choice of foods - taste and choose as much as you want, great variety of restaurants to choose from, and I highly recommend the buffet at the Merida Restaurant. The waitress service at the pool is exceptional. There were plenty of sunbeds to choose from, and there was no fighting over the sunbeds by the pool!!
I would definitely stay there again - no problems. Pleasant and friendly staff. Child friendly. Easy access for prams and wheelchairs.

We booked our holiday as a package through First Choice which was a first for me and not something I'd bother repeating, you really don't need them as everything is on hand and the Hotel El Paso staff are more than capable of dealing with any problems or queries.
The hotel is beautifully set out with lovely communal areas and a fantastic pool, although this was really cold when we stayed in August. Staff were really friendly, spoke good English and were very helpful. There were always lots of sun loungers, although not always shades.
The hotel shop was adequate and there are vending machines for drinks, sweets etc. Prices were what you'd expect to pay in a hotel and not as bad as minibar prices.
The restaurants were good, not fantastic, but a good choice of menu and quality. You certainly weren't rushed and the children enjoyed trying different things even if they weren't all to their taste.
The entertainment team were great with the children, lots of activities throughout the day and into the night. Mine particularly liked the disco dancing lessons and show. The kids were included in everything they wanted to do even if they were getting in the way half the time - a particularly hard fought game of volleyball springs to mind!!
The Theme park is great if you like theme parks, if you don't it's a pleasant stroll in nice surroundings. Food in the park was reasonably priced and more choice than you get at Disneyland Paris. The Fireworks were wonderful although you need to get there early to be able to sit down. leave as fast as you can as soon as it's finished otherwise it'll take you an age to get through the exit barrier.
The water park is OK, very crowded. You really need to get there early and get sun loungers (which you have to pay extra for) and hire inflatables first thing. I'm not a water park fan but had a pleasant day although I'd rather of been at the hotel to be honest.
Overall I would definitely visit this hotel again.

I just got back from Hotel El Paso on June 15. Overall the hotel was good but service was a bit slow. Salou offers lots for kids and Hotel El Pasos' location is ideal and with the unlimited Port Aventura express pass it's a great holiday for all.
Don't expect Salou to be cheap though, prices are not as expensive as back home, but they're catching up.

The Hotel El Paso was everything we hoped it would be and more. The food was excellent, as were the staff. Once you had wroled out the best times to got to the theme park, late afternoon and evening, the holiday fell into place. Taxi's were reasonbaly priced and ordered via the hotel for you. The shows at the theme park were extremely professional and i would recommend you see all of them. The entertainment laid on by the hotel was very good and geared prodominantly for the children up to 9.00pm when there was something for the adults, although i thought the drag act was in bad taste. All in all i would be happy to suggest this hotel to anyone however i would give Salou a miss.

Salou itself is ugly apart from the seafront. I would advise a trip to stock up on drinks and snacks to keep in your room at the start of the holiday.

Can I please ask you what was the matter with the Drag act In salou?
I can assure you she is very good! I have worked for and with her and I have been to loads of the shows what is the problem?
You seem to like The stuff in Salou so why would you give it a miss? I can assure you Salou is the best for a great time.
You are there for fun and a laugh especially if you see a drag Queen.
Mitzy Champagne is loved By 99.9% of people in salou and Benidorm where she is in the winter and where i live and work.
Thanks, Jamie

I disagree with this review because are we talking about the same hotel?? I am not suggesting that this isn't what the reviewer experienced but something dire has happened since. This is no way a 4* hotel. Cold food, repetitive and limited choice unless you like veal. Terrible entertainment in the hotel, poor service apart from kids club (excellent) and maids. Read more reviews to see that experiences can be very different.
