Today I tried to vacuum my friend's house. But I found that the vacuum was hardly cleaning anything. It wouldn't pick up hair, thread fibers, those little bits of paper left by a hole-punch, anything! I asked my friend who they had acquired the vacuum from. I assumed it was someone else's old vacuum. But they said they had bought it new little over a year ago and that the suction had been bad for a few months already.
Seriously, it is completely useless as it is right now. I can vacuum a room and it will look no better than before I began. Maybe some dust is being picked up but anything large enough to be visible just stays on the carpet.

The Panasonic MCE470 Vacuum cleaner was good at first, but this hoover could not maintain its suction power for more than one year. Not durable either.

The Panasonic Mce470 Vacuum Worked Excellently For
The Panasonic MCE470 vacuum worked excellently for 6 months, then rapidly went downhill. It is now 2 years old and is ready for the skip.
You have to clean the filters after every use, and you need a paintbrush to clean them.
There are 5 removeable filters in this thing, and as soon as you've cleaned them, they clog again.
You should replace them every 6 months or so, as they never really get fully clean, and that'll cost you £20...
Also, when you switch this cleaner on, it pumps a big cloud of dust into the air up in front of you.
The hose is short and clumsy. Pull too far, and the hoover falls over backwards!
I have lots of Panasonic equipment I'm happy with, but I'd NEVER buy another Panasonic hoover.
The Panasonic Mce470 Vacuum Is Totally Useless! I
The Panasonic MCE470 vacuum is totally useless! It has a very small (2 litre) canister to collect dust. The "self cleaning filter" will only clean one room before it clogs and jams, whereby one has to remove the dust bin, take it apart and spend the next five minutes unclogging the "self clean filter", before you can go to the next room to clean. It takes longer to clean the self-clean filter than it does to vacuum the carpets. The flex is very short, it takes me about 5 or 6 plug changes to vacuum my house. The hose for the stairs is also short and clumsy to fit on and off the side of the hoover. The vacuum does not contain smells, so every time I switch the vacuum on, the air STINKS of dog hair. My house doesn't smell of the dog, but this vacuum does.
There is no way that I would recommend anyone buying this vacuum - I only had it a week before I realised I had made a huge mistake with this one.
Panasonic has such a good name generally, but avoid their hoovers. It was reasonably cheap, £99, but not worth tuppence.
Within six months, I bought a Sebo and have never looked back from that vacuum. It is wonderful!!
