Another Sean Connery bond film. This time 007 must stop a plot to steal from the famous Fort Knox by Auric Goldfinger, an evil genius who has a psychological disorder where he is obsessed with gold. This bond movie is perhaps best known for having one of the most famous henchman of the entire James Bond series: Oddjob. He is best known for his hat, which he can throw with deadly accuracy and chop off someones head. This is possible because the brim of his top hat contains a sharp metal plate.

Goldfinger is well worth seeing, even if you're only seeing it for Oddjob!

Could it really be as far back as 1964 when Sean Connery graced us with another cool Bond up against a worthy adversary in the name of Auric (the name for gold no less) Goldfinger. The third Bond film (excluding Casino Royale) features humour from the pre-title sequence Bond tackles his opponent falls into the bath and Bond throws an electric fire in after him frazzling him! 'Shocking' Bond muses!

THE PLOT

Auric plans to rob Fort Knox by Operation Gland Slam with the plan to explode an atomic bomb inside contaminating the US gold supply increasing the value of Goldfinger's own holding and thus wrecking the US economy aided with the beautiful Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman) and his henchman Oddjob, a Korean with a hat that has a deadly blow!

THE GADGETS

No Bond film would be complete with the every irascible but handy Q with his gadgets issues Bond with the famous Aston Martin DB5 but fully equipped with useful extras that every guy or gal would love to have! Including rotating licence plates, machine guns behind the front lights, an ejector seat, tracking device and a bullet proof screen and not forgetting a smoke-screen or oil onto the road behind, ideal to stop the tailgater!

THE ENEMY

Auric Goldfinger played by German; Gert Frobe is no stranger to the big screen having appeared previously in Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines, Monte Carlo or Bust and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Totally obsessed with Gold and smuggles it within his stylish Rolls Royce. The classic scene where Goldfinger has Bond where he wants him spread-eagled on a table with a laser beam moving slowly closer towards his crown jewels. Not forgetting the classic line 'Do you expect me to talk?' Bond asks eyes never moving away from the approaching laser. 'No Mr Bond, I expect you to die' Goldfinger muses.

THE VICTIMS

Sisters Jill and Tilly Masterson who both end up on the wrong side of Goldfinger's wrath. At the start of the film Jill helps Auric to cheat at cards and Bond seduces her. She suffers her treachery by being suffocated to death by being painted in Gold. Her sister Tilly goes after Auric for revenge but Oddjob takes his hat off to her!

But will Bond turn Pussy and stop Goldfinger from getting away with his plan? This film is one of the finest Connery films as he has become fully accustomed to his role with finesse and dry humour that we have come to expect from Connery.

The music was composed and conducted by John Barry who was well known for producing most of the early Bond films. Shirley Bassey sings the theme tune entitled 'Goldfinger'.
