A firewire is no help to getting video on a computer and no salespersons I've talked to has been able to help.

I'm addressing the comment concerning the firewire being no good with his computer. Most people go out and buy and use a "windoze" computer because it's the cheapest and "most compatible." Unfortunately, PCs are only the most compatible with everyday, non-cutting-edge applications. Apple Powermacs have had firewire ports for years and software for your video camera for almost as long. Most run-of-the-mill PCs STILL don't come with firewire (1394) ports standard -- you'll need to buy a PCI card. My understanding is getting it all to work on a PC isn't necessarily very easy and you'll probably need a newer machine with a later Windows to even have a prayer. So when you see that advertising with the kid with an Apple Powerbook editing a video of his girlfriend on an airplane while listening to MP3s, now you have a reason why you would pay more for a system like that.

The FACT is that MOST professional users have in the past and continue to use Apple computers for video and audio editing, not to mention graphics. There is a reason for this if you are truely interested in knowing the facts as opposed to just commenting to affirm your personal choice. Macs come more equipped out of the box and best of all they work... ;-)

Windows XP automatically configured itself to use my camera. Use adobe premier if possible.

    a) good job dave price, im glad you took this chance to talk about macintrashes, too bad this is about a camcorder. i hope you like being able to use 10 percent of the software out there, and being able to listen to mp3 because we all know pcs cant edit video or play mp3s
<br>b) there is no specific software you need, if you purchase a vid capture card, it will come with some vid editing software, and that card will have firewire most likely, i got one for as low as 40 one year ago.
