Just got my Siemans SL45 mobile phone back from repair after it had been cutting out repeatedly every 10 - 15 secs when making a call.
Fortunately it was under warranty and the result is now that i am to recieve a new phone.
I wonder how long this one will last ?
I certainly, from reading the other reviews, would not buy another siemens phone.

No matter what, the Siemens SL45 is so far the best mobile phone ever in the market. a dual-band phone, wap access, organizer, music player, voice recorder, and more,, so what more can i ask for?

Well when i am playing mp3s on this Siemens SL45 mobile phone i have a good two to three hours and that only makes a very small decrease in battery!! Java execution can be a little slow at times but future updates should help otimise and solve this problem. The phone is a great piece of technology and saves me carrying around a diary, walkman, pda and seperate phone. Overall i would rate it a five out of five.

I'm having to take my Siemens SL45 phone back as the phone peeps all by itself in the middle of the night, crashes all the time and is as slow as my gran! Also, when it's dropped, the metal paint comes off and looks pants. Please let me know if its just me with these problems. Also it's too slow and not as good as nokia

When you say 'crash' do you mean a software 'Freeze' and you have to switch the phone off and on again to fix it?
If so, you are not alone. Mine has been back for repairs once (which took over 6 weeks with KJC) and is now doing it again now and then.
Otherwise I like the phone apart from the snail-like MP3 download time. But the menu system could be a touch more logical and the voice activation is very limited.
(My Psion is much faster download times by the way and thats serial too.)

Without memory card the phone is not much use.

If you have a phone like that (SL45) and you're on the net, it doesn't matter where you are: deepest India or somewhere in the Arctic Circle. Just go onto eBay and search for "MMC" and do yourself a favour - buy a 64Mb card to replace the (32Mb) one that doesn't work.

I had a Nokia 9110 before this phone. When i got this i was excited cuz it played mp3s. Well uploading mp3s onto the phone is very unpractical. You upload at a speed of 14,400kbs a second which is more then twice as slow as a 33.6 dial up connection. This means you will have to keep your phone connected to the pc uploading songs for hours! VERY unpractical! That wasn't the only problem. I got a lot of Memory Card Errors and the phone jammed and rebooted a lot for no reason. I thought I was the only one having this problem until i checked out some SL45 message boards and realized that a majority of the ppl faced similar problems. I had the phone for around 5 months when i noticed that the silver on some of the buttons started to fade to reveal a orangy colored plastic underneath. that's when i decided to sell it and get the ericsson 310s. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. Get a nokia. Not even an ericsson.
