“BEWARE”

BEWARE! . I bought a mobo from novatech online and it would not work, I returned it to novatech who rang me a few days later saying the pins for the cpu were damaged, they said they can return it to me of they could send it back to asus at a cost of £50 so i asked them to return it so i could see for myself, I explained that i had already checked the pins with a magnifying glass and they looked fine, but as I am new to all this i figured i could have missed something, as soon as i received the mobo back the pin that was damaged was obvious, I explained to them that it was not like that when i sent it back and they said it must have been so no refund, I told them i took photo's of it before and you can clearly see it is fine, they requested to see them, they then wanted a photo which showed the cpu pins and the mobo serial number to prove i hadn't taken a pic of a different board, which luckily i had and proceeded to send to them, today i called them, and they are trying to say that the pictures could have been taken before i installed it and therefore before i had apparently damaged it, I said why would I take photo's of it and also if that was the case then when was one of the pins stickimg bolt upright above the others, surely a cpu would crush the pin. She was having none of it. Upon looking online it seems there have been quite a few people who they have done this too. Rudest staff i have ever dealt with.

“Never delivered my son's birthday gift!”

One of the most disappointing experiences I have ever had. Ordered a gift for my son's birthday which is tomorrow 1st November. As the item is still not here I have just called them to chase and was advised it isn't expected to be delivered before end of November!!? I have ordered well in advance, paid increased delivery cost, just to make sure it arrives on time, and all I got was rude, unprofessional, not even apologetic attitude from their customer service saying that's it, nothing they can do. What a shocking service. I won't just voice my opinion here. I will make sure as many people as possible are aware and avoid becoming customer to this company. Absolute joke!

“Lying about stock availability”

I'm really disappointed in the service I've been getting. I ordered 36 graphic cards on the 3rd of July and until now (20th of July) I've not received anything. When I made my purchase, their website stated that these specific graphic cards will be in stock in 2 to 4 days and since then they've changed the status around 5 times. Sometimes it said that the cards will be in stock today, sometimes it said tomorrow and sometimes it said in 2 to 4 days. I understand that because of mining these cards are hard to come by but I really hate when people are using this fact to their advantage and for a quick cash flow boost. I've spent almost 11 thousand pounds for this purchase and by no means, I'm considered a valued customer. I've called them asking if they could keep me up to date with what is happening by sending me a quick email or calling me so that I'm not left in the dark but, of course, I was told that they won't do it since their system will automatically keep me up to date. What kind of an answer is that? It's not like I've spent a fiver. Today I called them up again to find out what's happening with my order and was told that they will call me back and, of course, no one bothered doing so. Suppliers, as well as manufacturers, can push back delivery dates because of various reasons but if it happens too often, Novatech has no right to falsely advertise these delivery dates. Their status should just simply state that they don't know it and that they will update it as soon as the items are dispatched and on their way to their warehouse. There is nothing holding me back from taking them to court under 'Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations'. Because of their misleading advertising, they've delayed my project for almost a month now. I could have gone elsewhere... Unless you will actually be helpful, do not reply to this review with a generic "We're sorry to see that you've experienced problems with your order" nonsense. It really won't help the situation.

“I spent £1270 for a laptop and got 4 faulty laptops...”

After lots of research online Novatech seemed to me as company with good reputation and I decided to get my laptop from them. That's was the worst experience I have had in my life after purchasing a product and unluckily for me a very expensive mistake. I spent £1270 for the laptop and £50 for a 3 year care pack. Since the 14th of May date of my first order and until now Novatech was unable to send me a laptop that could actually work, I received 4 faulty laptops, one after another. After a week of getting the first one and having issues like blue screen of death I was asked to send it back and I was told that I would need to purchase a new laptop and then they would refund me for the original laptop I bought the first time round. I was then told that the money will be back in my account in 4 working days but it took a month of waiting, many calls and frustration until they finally issued the refund. Unfortunately the problems did not stop there, the second laptop I received started to have similar problems this time when on an important business trip abroad, a crucial time I need a fully functioning laptop. I was experiencing the laptop constantly shutting down with blue screens resulting in a lot of delays in my work. After returning the second laptop to Novatech to try sort this issue out, this experience was even worse. Due to the nature of the faults I was unable to start the laptop to backup any data externally to which when I returned the laptop I requested for all my data to be transferred to the new laptop. I was informed that there wasn't any issue with the hard drive and that all my data, 500GB was successfully transferred. When I received the third Novatech laptop almost all my data was missing and they refused to recover it, as they told me they did not offer this service and where not willing to outsource. They once again tried to reassure me that the data was successfully moved in the first instance and that this was double checked. For every exchange of laptop I have had to spend many hours on the phone and writing emails to different people, each time with result of having to explain the issue over and over again. I been left waiting for many days for a reply from Novatech on many occasions. Never I have I ever bought anything before, where I have been forced into a position where I have had to spend so much time and energy to get what I have paid for and still to this day I haven’t received it. After the incident with losing the data and the latest laptop I received to be faulty as well I was offered another laptop. Few days later fourth laptop and blue screens again!!! For that now after sending the 4th laptop back and losing my trust in Novatech, I have requested a refund and have sent a log book along with a report of all the faults dated with description. I was told that once I had sent the laptop back to Novatech, the manager would look at the laptop and consider whether I would receive a refund. Throughout dealing with all these problems I have been told on multiple occasions that I would be contacted within 24 hours with a conclusion on the laptop(s). To each time receiving no contact at all and again finding myself having to chase up on the progress. Finally I was told as this was the 4th laptop that has had problems they were going to treat this matter as an emergency. I was told on Wednesday that they planned to consult with the manager the next morning and would call me afterwards to resolve the matter. In true Novatech form they did not call me and when I rang as to see why, I was told that the manager was not in work until the next day. Making me wonder why they would tell a customer that they were going to consult with the manager on the manager’s day off?! What a customer service!!!

“Good until you have a problem”

I chose this company over amazon because I thought things would go smoother in case of problem. I was wrong. To be short : ordered a whole pc in parts, everything seemed to work, excepted when a driver for the video card was installed : video card would just stop, no more video input. After a dozen hours of testing, I returned (5 days after the order) on their advice the graphics card asking for a refund. I bought another GC from them in the meanwhile. Their offered the free collection, but the guy never showed up. I sent the GC back myself, and went on a business trip in the US since i had to. Now here is the problem : After testing the card, they replied that it did not seem faulty, and refused the refund. Ok now I have 2 cards, not great, but still. I went back home, talked with the support, was told that the motherboard may be faulty, and that I should return it. Which I did. 8 days later, I get an answer saying the MB has a problem, and that they will return it to the manufacturer for him to repair it. I should have an answer within 28 days. Wait, what? 28 more days? I asked if they could just exchange it, and their answer was No, because now 28 days have passed since the order. And now 2 months have passed since the original order, and I still don't have a solution for the PC. They refuse to hear anything, no gesture of goodwill. This is honestly the worst experience I ever had.

“Refund Refused after reciept of damaged goods ”

Ordered two items a motherboard and ram. On opening the motherboard box it was clear that this item had previously been opened as the internal packets were ripped open and accessories loose in box. There was thermal paste residue on the plastic cpu socket cover. My new cpu could not be seated due to the motherboard pins being clearly bent. Novatech have refused a refund stating customer damage even though delivered in this state. I have now filed a dispute with Barclaycard and will be contacting trading standards. I am being penalised after receiving a damaged item and effectively told I have to prove that I am not responsible. I have had on two other occasions received pre-opened/used items when paying for new and this is clearly another example. Think long and hard before ordering here, I wont be again but certainly wont rest until this item is refunded. In addition I have only just received confirmation that they will refund the ram two weeks after purchase even though un-opened.

“Postage”

I bought from this store in person a new SSD hard drive while picking up my pc from repair (They never found the problem it just started to work again so I have to wait for it to break again.) They knew it was for my computer but never suggested to get a conversion unit to fit the bays. The actual SSD was due in the next day (the Friday). It never arrived of course but they did keep offering me to cancel the order after my "where the heck is it". It eventually arrived a week later to their store. This was on the 3-4 day delivery post, however I would have thought that they would have at least done a next day delivery as I had waited so long, but no. so it eventually arrived on the Thursday. 2 weeks after order. Then of course I find no fitting kit with it so online to them to get one, ah it was in store and showed that both of the more expensive posts said delivery on Friday I bought the cheaper one. Expecting the order that day I waited around to get an email at 11.04 on the Friday to say it had finally been sent. Guess what did not arrive on the Friday so hence this report. so that's 2 items bought to arrive by post both late one after paying extra for the early delivery. only reason I gave it 2 stars is the stuff should work when I eventually get it fitted. I wont hold my breath though. I have always bought from Novatech but I have never known them to be so bad. Guess I will have to find another store.

““Worst Computer buying experience in 30 years””

Ordered high spec computer NT 146, dual monitors and Window8 pro. Machine arrived on time but after few days of use errors on start up got BSOD errors. Technicians identified error (through remote session) so asked for return of machine but then said there was not a problem but eventually said there could be a problem with the hard drive. Anyway, Novatech agreed to send brand new machine; it arrived as promised but in a poor state, 2 front panels were bent, the front fan was hanging out and as I lifted the machine out of the box all the front panels fell out. The packaging again was poor so no surprise the machine had been damaged in transit (Ebay buyers would rank packaging as very poor!). I was offered £50 compensation if I kept the damaged machine and accepted replacement front panels. This doesn't even cover the time wasted calling Novatech never mind the costs incurred due to loss of work through not having a working PC. I personally would not recommend this company.

“Always had good service”

I've been a customer of theirs for years, having bought 3 desktop PCs, 1 laptop and numerous components. All of these machines were for home use - principally gaming. When they first started offering pre-built systems the amount of choice was huge but this has tailed off over time to give a slightly more cookie cutter choice. Ive never wanted to build from scratch so for me this is fine but other companies offer a bigger choice. This brings me to another point about their service, is thay they tend to have ranges that are either all ATi or all nVidia based (graphics cards) and this I think is limiting and takes them down by 1 star in my review. Over the years I have never had any issues with their service, they have competative prices and have always delivered reliable machines to spec. When I look for a new PC, I always come here first before I look elsewhere and I have only ever bough ttwo PCs that were not Novatech (1 x Gateway and 1 x DinoPC). I am not sure why their overall rating is so low but it's an ideal supplier for users that have some knowedge of PC components, who for example may be able to fix or build their own PCs (e.g. the laptop I just bought from their clearance section - I had to install Windows and all of the drivers). If you just want to splash cash on high-end hardware, then Alienware (aka Dell), DinoPC, PCS pecialist or any similar company is more your thing.

Novatech have a showroom where you can see stuff in glass cabinets and their prices are often reasonably competitive. That is all they have going for them. I was hung out to dry twice in one year by them. Their returns policy is as bad as PC World – take something back because it doesn’t work and they will test it themselves and then tell you it does work and insist you keep it. I would go to Amazon whose return policy is the best around. The only reason I have given them two stars instead of one is that on one occasion the managed did ring up and offer a compromise which was fair enough but just weeks later his team had let him down again. It’s fine buying computer stuff at low prices until you have a problem. When you have is when things start going downhill with these guys.

“Liars. Nightmare Experience”

Ordered a motherboard from Novatech. It was not wrapped in plastic and had obviously been opened prior to arrival. Fitted motherboard only to find it was dead out of the box (Big surprise) and didn't work. I sent it back to them. They said I had broken it and would be given no refund. They said I'd bent the processor port pins, there was blood on the board and it was not packaged correctly. Firstly, I'm not an idiot and wouldn't bend processor pins. I've built at least 20 successful PCs in my life. I know what I'm doing and have been doing it a long time. I know to be careful and cautious with my handling. Secondly I do not know how blood got on there. How the hell they found blood on there is beyond me. Thirdly. The packaging complaint was because I'd used a different plastic to wrap the motherboard inside the box. Similar texture to the original that came with it. (The original had been torn slightly hence why I opted for one that would definitely protect it rather than expose through holes. (It's just plastic for god sake). I even rang their tech service to make sure this was okay before doing it. To top it all off I ordered a power supply from them a few months prior to this and that was also dead out of the box. I sent it back but got a working one luckily. Now I am short £160 and have no motherboard to show for it. Thanks Novatech.

“Perfection; Great service and a great price!”

The computer arrived earlier than predicted (fine for me, but I can see that being annoying for some). So with eagerness I opened the box and set the computer up. So far it handles everything I've thrown at it admirably, and it really is very quiet, hardly a whisper - vs my old computer which sounded like a vacuum cleaner! The case looks the part and specs-wise it's perfect for someone who uses it for work and occasional gaming. The price is spot on too. I imagine serious gamers will want to invest in a more expensive system, this is a good middle of the road option.

“Dishonest”

Their customer support are terrible liers. I accidentely ordered a graphic card and shipped it back without opening it hours after recieving it. The customer support charged me an extra fee because a scratch had misteriously found its way on the heatshield. Considering the package wasn't even opened and label were still on, that is quite an unaceptable behavior that will surely cost them a customer.

“Great Prices and Great Customer Service”

Ive ordered many things of this company. I basically use them for everything now purely for their low prices. I've only ever had to have two items replaced by them before, one under OCZ warranty and one because it was faulty from day 1. Both times they were fast and helpful. We currently have two computers built by novatech. One is a 2.5 year old PC and one is a 4 year old laptop. Both still running fine. Couldn't ask for more - great company.

“Appalling customer service - 3 months down the line”

They used to be good but I've had two dire experiences within six months. This time an SSD HD failed so they said to send it back to them for RMA. They sat on it for three months and told me that as far as they were concerned, the drive worked fine. Don't bother with them - use Amazon or John Lewis instead.
