ELO, Flashback

ELO didn't enjoy the greatest press from the discerning musical writers during their heyday in the late 1970's/early 1980's. 'Beatles ripoff' was a common accusation, but show me a band that doesn't have a recognisable influence. Jeff Lynne makes no secret of his admiration for the Fab Four.

There are some truly cracking pop tunes on the Flashback album, as well as some more 'meaty' tunes with more depth and substance than say 'Don't Bring Me Down'. Even Jeff's attempt at the band's only No.1 (with ONJ), namely, XANADU, is a good listen.
