I Have Had Two Pur Systems For The Last Three Year
I have had two Pur systems for the last three years. I have both the large dispenser, and the smaller pitcher styled unit. These were both purchased as Pur Plus systems. Recently, Pur "upgraded" the white Plus filters to the new, blue, "Ultimate" filters. The only thing that appears to be "ultimate" about the "improved" filters is that they are ultimately a waste of money.
The problem with the ultimate filters is they seem to clog. The filters have an indicator to tell when it is time for a replacement. It supposedly filters 40 gallons before a replacement is required. Last week I replaced the filter in my larger dispenser. It has filtered perhaps 3 cycles of water. It has filtered so little water than the indicator has yet to move. And yet, it has been sitting on my counter for THREE HOURS and has still not permitted the water to run completely through the filter. I have had five of these supposed "ultimate" filters and have yet to have one last even half way through the cycle before it became essentially useless. (I have city water, BTW)
The filters are simply an expensive waste of money because they clog up. Several friends have the same dispensers and have an identical problem. I am to the point now that, if I can not find the older Pur Plus filters, which never had the clog problem, I am going to throw the pitchers in the trash because they have become little more than a waste of money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON PUR "ULTIMATE" DISPENSERS!
