I read constantly about HMV and their diminsing turnover and profits however, the past 2 times I have visited an HMV store I have been in a large queue waiting to pay and on both occasions, along with other people in the queue just left the items and walked out of the shop. The reason, whilst behind the tills are a number of staff only 1 or 2 are actually taking money the other student type staff seem to be busying them selves tidying or labelling or anything other than serving. I am no Bill Gates but surely if there are people queueing to give you money you should have your staff available to take their money. Both times I left the items in the shop and walked out I had £50 and £30 worth of products sales respectively.

Everytime I walk into HMV I immediately feel annoyed, it is always cramped, people put everything everywhere on the wrong shelves, none of the workers seem to know very much about their products and half the time when they say they sell something they actually don't. The goods are of a nice quality and the price is usually alright for CD's but games are mostly at rip off prices. The online store sells things often at a much higher or ridiculously lower price as in store which is very unhelpful when trying to compare prices.

HMV is a great shop in the high street where you can find loads of movies, CD's and games of a wide selection. The only problem about HMV is the prices as they are overpriced like one DVD with one disc they charge 19.99 for Jackie Chan and Jet Li movies which is way too much.
Quality of the Service - they tend to give you a pretty good service depends which store though.
Layout of shop - the one at Stockton-on-Tees where I live is pretty small with only one floor. I like Middlesbrough's as its bigger and has 2 floors, Newcastle offers the best as that has 3 floors. Layout can be hard something as there always set out different.
Value for Money - depends what your looking for usually I use eBay if its too expensive in shops.
Overall - 7/10

Having purchased a lot of items from HMV, I have to admit only on the odd few occasions have I had any problems with this company, while they have a wide choice of stock - they ain't the cheapest. This has to be CD-WOW at the moment.
