I have upgraded to this fuji finepix 4900 zoom digital camera from my Fujifilm 1400Z which I thought at the time was stunning (indeed it was up to A4 but image quality of the 1400Z deteriorated at A3 size).
The 4900Z image quality goes far beyond printing at A3 size - detail on my Epson Photo A3 printer is fabulous. Colours are subtle and the overal effect is truly magnificent.
I highly recommend this camera to anybody!… Read Full Review

as many have said in reviews there are very few bad points.
splendid for landscape and especially architecture.
one flaw for myself however is reducing redeye in portraits, is there a knack on the 4900 for this as in auto and redeye switched on it's still the same. any help appreciated geo@orge.freeserve.co.uk… Read Full Review

I am constantly amazed and surprised at the performance of the Fuji 4900. Every time I use it I seem to discover a new feature. Having used SLR cameras for 25 years, with varying degrees of sucess, the Fuji 4900 is an absolute joy to handle and use and the results are superb every time. This camera should have been produced years ago! I can't see myself ever changing it, it will probably outlast me… Read Full Review

Written on: 06/06/2001 by Jim Gibbney. (1 review written)

Having used Fujifilm's MX700 for the past three years , I was ready for an upgrade to keep up with fast changing technology. The Fuji Finepix 4900 zoom seems to be the ideal choice for a digital camera. Setting up the camera is simplicity itself following Fuji's informative and well laid out manual.
The superb 6 x optical zoom lens gives great results and is a big plus over many of it's rivals. The controls have been well thought out and positioned making the camera a joy to use. Whether it is… Read Full Review

I am not deeply into photography so therefore require my camera to be simple & easy to use. The 4900 fits the bill.
The camera is a joy to handle and, if you so desire, virtually use it one handed due to its design and lack of weight.
Set it to 'auto' and away you go, no problem.
I particularly like the movie facility which enables you to take movies (no sound) for up to 180 seconds depending on your smart card capacity.
One serious drawback for me was that there is no facility provided for… Read Full Review

This camera has exceeded my expectations in performance, it fits perfectly in the hand and can be ready to shoot in less than 3 seconds.

I have had the camera for nearly a month. If you study the manual ( which is easy to follow ) you will realise many more of the little features that make this camera such a pleasure to use.

Written on: 04/04/2001 by Eric Turner. (1 review written)

Since buying the camera at the beginning of March 2001 I have been constantly amazed at its performance. The definition from its x6 optical zoom lens is more than adequate. It should satisfy anyones need on a standard 10"x8" print at every resolution setting apart from 640x480, which to be fair is quoted as being for internet use (fast). Automatic control is superb. Manual control is there if you need it and at some depth. Downloading of images via the USB connector is simple using the… Read Full Review

Written on: 21/03/2001 by Mark Lovatt. (1 review written)

I can only agree with the comments made by Billie O and Jonathon C Clarke, this is an excellent camera, a minus point is for the charger, this is only for use with 240v 50Hz, not much good if you visit the USA for instance, however, a nice man at Fuji sent me an American standard unit free of charge, post and packing £10, this unit is not CE marked and cannot be used in the UK, you will be advised of this should you call for one… Read Full Review

Written on: 15/03/2001 by Jonathan C Clark. (1 review written)

I agree with everything in the "Billie O" review dated 2000/10/25. So there's no point repeating it here.

When digital cameras first appeared on the shelves, I made a resolution to buy one, but only when the price was right; the quality high; and functionality satisfactory. After a very long wait, I found the FinePix4900. This digital camera meets all of my requirements and a lot more.

It will do the same you; and I strongly recommend it… Read Full Review

Written on: 25/10/2000 by Billie O. (1 review written)

A serious tool for the serious photographer or for the enthusiast who wants more control. Build is excellent. The CCD is 2.47 Megapixles but the image quality is at least equal to 3.3 megapixel camera's currently available. Package contains 16Mb SmartMedia card.

Particularly excellent for fast sports shots, landscapes and wildlife photography, as well as for portraits.

A sturdy and deeply impressive machine which easily rivals cameras of a greater price and CCD resolution… Read Full Review
