“Avoid avoid avoid ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ianrjwilkinson on 20/05/2017

Avoid these like the plague. They have just informed me they cancelled my insurance on the 6th April (45+ days later and 2 payments later) due to a non payment even though I have paid every month. A computer glitch in February meant they come for my monthly dd 3 times and the bank recalled them all on their advice. The direct debit then got taken 10 days later and then they never came for the march dd so I paid on card and got told they would straighten everything with the accounts team and to ignore any other letters about this matter. Then I get a letter saying my insurance was cancelled. Phoned up and they said they will listen to the calls today (Saturday) and if I sent an email with my bank statement on showing the payments they could look at that and get the policy reinstated. Had a voicemail today saying there was no manager in so no calls can be listened to. Rang up half hour later to generally speak to a manager and there was one. Got told by the advisor originally dealing with it that the turned up 10 minutes after the voice mail. Then got told that the manager couldn't access the emails or listen to the voice calls the admin team need to do it. So they wasted my time in ringing back today (Saturday). Asked to speak to a manager and got told she won't speak to me. Asked to speak to a team leader or senior and there was only skeleton staff in and only the manager in. Asked to speak to the complaints department and they said they can't transfer me there. Asked for a manager ring back and got told there was no point over the insurance matter as nothing can be sorted until Monday. Asked to speak to the manager to complain about the service and got told she won't speak to me cos it can't be dealt with until Monday. I said this was a complaint about service not the insurance policy and he found a senior member that had suddenly morphed from somewhere. Avoid these at all costs. Even worse than the kwik fit garages that tried telling me I needed new brakes at £300 to pass an m o t when I had them replaced 2 weeks before the mot. Whole company are jokers

“Auto renewal warning”

★☆☆☆☆

written by RyleighCopeland on 11/03/2017

Was unaware that this company auto renew and take payment directly from your account 5 days before existing policy even ends. If that wasnt bad enough the actually took my yearly premium twice, leaving me unknowingly overdrawn. I phoned as soon as i realised to complain. I cancelled my insurane on the spot and found another cheaper insurer. Its taken 7 days to get one of the payments back. Ive just phoned again to complain that the second one has still not been refunded only to be told it could be a further3 to 5 days. That will be 15 days from when the money was deducted from my account. Mistakes sometimes happen but how a company reacts to a problem or complaint truely defines them. Kwik Fit are unfit. Heaven only knows what they would be like if you had an accident.

Read this then.
I have already posted this elsewhere.

Be aware of auto renew policies on home insurance.
kwik fit will charge you £30 administration fee if you do not cancel your policy within 5 days prior to your auto renewal date.
This is not clearly stated on the policy renewal top sheet but obviously tucked away in the terms and conditions.
I'm sure this has caught out many people and in my mind and probably others this is scam.
This does not work exactly the same with motor insurance policies where there is a central data base and they can automatically check to see if you have renewed and will refund you without any charges.
I spoke to one of their managers who was totally unapologetic and refused to back down, even as a one off good will gesture. He made a point of saying he always reads the T&C's.
From that comment I realised he was unnegotiable and he needs to get a life.
I stated it should be printed clearly in bold on page one to make customers aware.

This is a terrible practice and a company that clearly does not have your interests in mind.
Kwitfit need to try and look after their customers!
Even the Banks can have more heart sometimes.
As I am employer of 18 staff I will be not recommending kwikfits services to others.
They will never get another penny from us.
I doubt kwik fit are even phased about it.
They should stick to fitting tire caps and nothing else too brain taxing.

“Absolutely Useless”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rex273 on 02/03/2017

A no fault claim reduces my NCD from seven years to two years! Oh, it's because the other insurer hasn't reimbursed us for the claim so I have to pay an exorbitant cost to renew my insurance because kwikfit's admin department won't sort out the NCD. Don't touch them with a barge pole.

“Received no reminder or any documents for my car insurance”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 393Williamson on 21/02/2017

Recently noticed that I was paying £62 to KwikFit. When I rang was told that it was for my wife's car insurance. £62 a month was the renewal price compared to £22 I had been paying the previous year (3 times more!!). I asked why I had not received a reminder and was told that it was sent in September. I managed to get the monthly amount reduced to £33 pounds a month but no refund for the previous 5 months but was told that if I was to cancel the policy I would have to pay a large cancel fee. Reluctantly agreed to the reduced price however I noticed that no insurance documents had been received. I rang again and was told they had been sent to my email address. Checked my emails with no sign of my documents and was told to check my spam folder. I asked for them to be sent again and received them straight into my inbox. I now feel that they were not sent at all and may seek a solution via the financial Ombudsman

“Useless customer service.”

written by on 10/02/2017

I had a letter from you telling me you could not collect a payment via my direct debit and you asked for my bank details, yet you printed my bank details on the letter you sent me,the last payment I made via the phone was on the 22 Dec and the direct debit was reset up to be paid on the 22 of each month,as the last payment was due on the 22 Jan via the direct debit,it is not my fault if your staff do not amend the paperwork to reflect the phone calls.I tried to call your customer services at 6.15 pm and was kept on the phone for 15 mins listening to the weather and news. The Jan payment will be made on Wednesday 8/2/17.

Honestly tho if you fancy a laugh which I received with my renewal price letter in the post then so be it .... this insurance is a absolute joke haha

“Absolutely atrocious customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Gerald216 on 18/01/2017

I decided to go with this insurer mainly due to the price, but that was a mistake. I think it is ok for a year, but after a year, they'll ask twice the premium, even if no quotes were made. If you'll happen to be abroad when the renewal is due, you're out of luck trying to stop the automatic renewal, add there's no option on the website to do so and no one bothers to answer email. Funniest thing of all, if I made a new quote, the offered premium is half the renewal proposal. In all, very disappointing experience and I'd advise anyone to go with another broker.

“Paid my deposit and cancelled 2 weeks later”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/12/2016

I took out car insurance and paid my deposit only for you to send me a nasty letter saying you were cancelling it after 2 weeks on something I had no knowledge of. My partners car had set alight in January and he had put a fault claim in which I hadn't known about so hadn't declared. You gave me absolutely no chance to explain or come to a solution. You kept my deposit and were generally appalling when it comes to customer service. For the record I haven't made a claim against my insurance since I passed my test 28 years ago and the car setting on fire was no ones fault. Terrible service

“"Kwik Fit"? I'm having the biggest fit of my life alright!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KoolKool on 30/11/2016

More like 'Zlow Fit'! All my life with many years of driving, obviously it is essential to have car insurance, it's the law. We all have 199 problems, and Kwik Fit will make sure that car insurance is definitely one! Getting your car insured should just be simple (because it is). If I need my car to be insured, I'd pay and get on with life. If my car insurance end and I found a better one, I end and join a better one. Simple. All that there is to it is, we agreed, pay and gets on with life but! No, not with "Kwik Fit"... They would fill you with their warm welcome and then 'Kwikly' seized you into their busy administration environment team! The name should be change to Turtle or Snail Fit! Or simply just name their customer service 'Tasmanian Devil Team'. Full of problems, time wasting and stress afterwards! I don't usually bother writing a review on anything, I don't have time, in fact I don't think I ever write one before but hey, there's a first time for everything. This company is absolutely atrocious! I just couldn't resist but to give one. 1 - Employed many rude staffs. Got mouths of street market. (I have spoke to 1 or 2 that are nice) 2 - Ring to contact - if you work 2-3 days a week, good on you, you have all the time in the world to wait to be connected. Oh, if you work 5 days a week? You might wanna book a week holiday then try to get hold of them. 3 - Departments - Too many departments, every time I ring, I always gets transfer to multiple departments because this department can't do this or that department can't do that! Because of this, I have to explain myself over and over again! 4 - Unreliable - Jobs just not being done! No trust on this company. Simple. 5 - Racial Concern - I understand Kwik Fit Customer Service is a Scottish based. I didn't think this would be a problem but well... from what I've came across... If I say there wasn't any tensions I'd be lying... as I am English... 6 - in result - I have wasted A LOT of time and getting over stress which is pointless with this company In conclusion, people should really be asking themselves when it comes to Car Insurance. Apart from the cheap offer they're getting, how many time and when will they be talking to their car insur' customer service? If it's going to be this stressful and time consuming then I'd advice investing a little more to a better, more friendly, more helpful customer service.

“worst service ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by kendonag on 16/11/2016

i took out insurance with Kwick Fit for a second car we recently purchased. I paid for the insurance, got issued the certificate. All seemed well. We then left the country to go on holiday for 2 weeks and received an email stating the insurance has been cancelled as I had not send validation information. I did not know I had to end validation as was not requested when my payment was requested. If you require key information to secure insurance then get this before the point of payment and before you issue certificates. I am sick and tired of UK business providing the worst in customer service. You just do not care

If you needed your Insurance to start with immediate effect I would phone them straight away - if it is Insurance to start at the end f the of the month then 24 hours is the longest I would wait. Perhaps for your own piece of mind it would be better to phone them and make sure everything is in place properly and that all the details and needs you have given have been covered correctly. Good luck

I think there is a code that you will need to put in at some point through the booking an MOT process. I remember taking out the insurance and having the same problem so eventually ended up taking my car to a local garage for its MOT. I think I remember receiving an email from Kwikfit regarding how to book your free MOT and doing something on their appointment page but when I tried it, they still wanted to charge me!!

Hi nellie999 - any car insurance quote these days is available for a limited time unless you get a written quote from the insurance company direct - as they run a search for the cheapest quote for you at the time of your searching the internet - so if you took the quote a day later it could be more or sometimes less than it was the day before. If given a reference number on paper from the source it will stipulate how long the quote is valid for on the paper given. Short answer is that the quote you get online is valid for a short period of hours only - I have also phoned Kwik Fit and asked them to make sure that this is correct. I hope this help you in your decision.

Uusually in a case like this, you might have set a future date or time to start your cover from. If you had taken the insurance out and you got pulled over on the same date then it may be a time issue. For example: Your cover will start today at 12:00. Do not drive until 12:00. Just ring quick fit and ask what the problem is. Been with Kwik Fit for 2 years now, no problems. They even offered to match a lower offer I got from someone else.
Report this content Bloggsy63 Written on: 09/12/2014
I agree with Blessy, It sounds like your start time may be the issue, I would however check with your bank and make sure they did cover your first payment as some banks can 'flag' a new vendor attempting to set up a debit or standing order. If you paid for the whole year upfront it may be that the bank held the payment. Check your payment then phone Kwik Fit and ask what has happened on their side. Yes I have had this happen but not with the mentioned insurer, took the insurance - thought I was covered from 12h00 that day only to get pulled over and questioned and to find that my cover only started at midnight. The Police were in this instant very understanding and did not tow the car. I hope they didn't tow yours either - good luck.

I would think it would depend on the operation you had and whether you are "fit to drive" as diagnosed by your doctor now its complete. If you are on any medications which by their nature can cause tiredness, dizziness and any other symptoms that could affect your driving ability, then you should not drive anyway! I think good old common sense should prevail but if your not sure, then your doctor is your first point of call. Hope thats of some help, just my two penny's worth ;)

Your G.P will be able to give you advice on whether you can drive or not. It depends whether you have had abdominal surgery or surgery on your limbs, also if you are on strong painkillers or not. Abdominal surgery by keyhole+ you are advised not to drive for 4-6 weeks following surgery due to internal self-disolving stitches & the diaphragm take a lot longer to heal & knit back together, if it is open surgery then it is usually 12 weeks before you can drive. If it limb surgery it isn't advisable to drive until you have had physiotherapy or the ok from your G.P. Analgesia can affect your concentration, if you are taking any codeine based pain killers or morphine based pain killers, also some anti-inflamitories other than steroid can make you drowsy and/or make your a difference with your concentration (a bit like driving after drinking 3-5 pints of beer). Best to check with your G.P first as then your insurance will be valid if given the ok. Hope this helps.
Report this content Mark08 Written on: 15/11/2014
I would not advise driving after 2 weeks unless doctor says otherwise dependant on what type of operation and what kind of pain relief or medication you are taking as if you needed to claim on your insurance and your insurers found out about such events then you would not be covered.
Report this content Blessy Written on: 15/11/2014
If you are fit to drive without aid then yes.

IN MY OPINION YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE COVERED BUT IT IS UNLIKELY YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO CLAIM FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT AS HOSPITALS USUALLY SAY YOU SHOULD NOT DRIVE FOR SIX WEEKS AFTER AN OPERATION I HAVE HAD MANY TYPES OF INSURANCE OVER THE YEARS AND HAVE NOT PAID UP AS THEY ARE FRAUGHT WITH DISHONESTY AND CCORRUPTION
