Well, I Have Bought A 2.1 Version Of These Acousti
Well, I have bought a 2.1 version of these acoustic energy aego speakers couple of years ago and they are an exellent value. They sound big - like nothing in their price range whotsoever anyway. So last week I have purchased a 5.1 version called aego P5 and lucky me I have paid only 47 pounds for them. The monitors are of excellent quality but the subwoofer is just crap. So at the end of a day I wonder how could you guys justify spending 500 pounds on them - Had I done I would have killed myself;)
The subwoofer is actually better than the one in your 2.1 Aego system - did you have 5 green lights and one red on the processor? If so that would sound awful - press the "Bass Manager" button until all lights are red and it will sound worlds better.

Acoustic Energy Aego P5 Had Good Sound When It Wor
Acoustic Energy Aego P5 had good sound when it worked. Cost £500 and burnt out in 18 months when I got back in touch with manufacturer service was appalling and they eventually asked me to purchase a new decoder. Appalling service and after-care from the Acoustic people

I Was Utterly Blown Away By The Acoustic Energy Ae
I was utterly blown away by the Acoustic Energy Aego P5 system. The opening of Apocolypse Now Redux sounds like The Doors are in the room & chopters really are circuling. The detail in the Burly Brawl sequence in Matrix Reloaded was astounding. Basically, this has made me want to re-watch all my DVD's NOW!

Not Having Room For My Old Hi Fi System When I Mov
Not having room for my old Hi Fi system when I moved house, which consisted of What Hi Fi 5 star components, and also watching more DVD movies I decided to opt for a sub sat system. After reading lots of articles and reveiws I decided to opt for the Acoustic Energy AGEO P5 sysem. However I have spent hours and hours moving the speakers around and playing with all the adjustment, I just can't get it to sound anywhere near as good as my old system. Having said that it is good with DVD movies. My advise to anyone thinking of going for a sub sat system and listen to a lot of music then stick with stereo Hi Fi.
Im not supprised they are not up to the standard of the 5* What hi stuff. Also i'm not suprised that they are not as good for CD's. Firstly AE do other speakers which are up to the 5* stuff and are more designed for playing music. If you want that quality take a look at AElite series for example or the reference speakers. I also like to add that even the Aego range comes with a model designed specifically at playing music from a music source like an MP3 player.
I agree with the coments about the Aego P5 not being that capable in stereo. Having the P5 for over one and a half years now it has been good with movies, though stereo capabilities are not up to the same standards.
I think that adding a new 'amp' would not solve problems, as the P5 can play music not just in multi-channel mode but also in stereo. Though a better processor may be of use and improve sound quality.
The P5 at the time I was purchasing it cost around 5-6 hundred pounds (not that i paid this much), and i think does sound up to these standards.
All in all the P5 has just been a bit of fun for me, though i don't think the Aego P5 and Aego M are that great of product in stereo. In that case i think a Hi-fi would be a much better option for those who listen to music most of the time.
Looking at the other reviews here I wonder of Nick was expecting too much from such small and lets face it relatively cheap speakers.
I would also suspect that it may have been the amps inability to convert stereo to 5.1 or surround stereo for music play back.
A good amp may be the answer.

This System Is Awesome. The Sound Quality Is Full
This system is awesome. The sound quality is full with a rich base if you want it.
The speakers are quality palm sized units that you can position in various ways.
The sub is smaller than some I have come across
If I had one main criticism it would be the LED's are a bit on the bright side and can be a distraction if like me you can only position the processor in the line of view when watching the TV

The Aego P5 Surround Sound Speaker System From Aco
The Aego P5 surround sound speaker system from Acoustic Energy is absolutely unbelievable! It is the most stylish small sub sat system I have seen. The real bonus is that the sound is so full. I really would recommend it to anyone. You can play your TV, Stereo, DVD player and PS2 through it! Excellent! The system included a pair of 10m rear cables, 5m front cables and 4m centre cable. Loads of cable to run under the carpets. All I will say is have a listen to the system and be prepared to be blown away!!
Very little info. None technical.
