I've Had Mine For 6 Years Now. I Don't Have A Sing
I've had mine for 6 years now. I don't have a single urge to 'move up'. What's the point when you have something that does the job and does it well like the Yamaha RX-V795aRDS.

I Bought The Yamaha Rx-v795ards Unit From Curry's
I bought the Yamaha RX-V795aRDS unit from Curry's ex-display in 2002, and it has performed impeccably for the price. Excellent sound quality (especially paired up to my Mission 702e's) What also goes in it's favour is the little things like the 'one for all remote' that comes with it. But for me, best of all is the amazing definition you get when watching a dvd with a dts soundtrack. OMG, it just wipes the floor with Dolby. Nuff said. Buy One!!!!!!!!!!!

When Looking To Replace My Old Cheap Sherwood Amp
When looking to replace my old CHEAP sherwood amp I read a review in HCC about this Yamaha RX-V795aRDS amp. Quick visit to Richer Sounds in Croydon later I tested the unit and was amazed at the quality and power for the price. The connections are second to none, apart from the stupid little binding posts which are too small for a standard jack plugs. But, it's worth the inconvenience for the quality sound stage this unit creates. Especially, on DTS soundtracks, and DD superbly well handled too.
Buy one..you won't regret it!
Sorry, I should have made it clear in my review. I use my amp primarily (actually almost wholely for DVD movie soundtracks DD/DTS).
I found it excellent for Movies (DPL, DD and DTS) but found it very flat and lifeless for music.
I've since replaced it with a Marantz 4300 which is superb!
Your right. The bass is a little thin, but, as I use a pair of REL Q100's (one on the pre-out providing sub-audio and one connected across the front right speaker out & set to 'slam') to thicken up the bass. P.S. My neighbours love me!
Won't regret it? No just joking. A good all rounder and sound a lot louder than the sony`s str940, had both and rate the yamaha a lot higher. Only a minor winge, the bass can be a tad dry, with or without a sub.
