Alan Garner, The Weirdstone of Brisingamen

Alan Garner's 'The Weirdstone of Brisingamen' was an absolute revolation. The story line is captivating and consistently pleasing. The characters and events within the book have clearly been very carefully thought out. There is large amount of description within the book which I feel is needed for a fantasy book to allow the reader to understand made up locations (different worlds such as in the Lord of the Rings) and creatures. I do feel that there could have been more description on how the two main characters felt while on their adventure but overall would rate this book a ten because it captures your interest almost straight away and then never disappoints. The story is simply magical with a fantastic ending.
