I too have the same problem with no power from time to time whilst driveing change gear and try to accelerate but no power the dealer said the pump was at fault and would need replacing and the injectors as well as the pipes and tank all under warranty
You should be aware that the pump can be covered by a 6 year warrenty by the manafacturer as it is supposed to last longer than that so dont be fobbed off.

I've had me Kia Sedona 2.9TDI Auto since 2003. Does only 5000 miles a year and every year I have to replace the front pads before MOT. Had to do front disks this year as well. Mileage 45,000 and Y reg.
Smoke on acceleration is 'embarrassing'.. Stick your foot down and it belches out leaving a smog for following drivers to negotiate and breathe in. In these days of 'pollution' this should be sorted....which incidentally is how I got to this form!

Brilliant driving position = safe driving. In bad weather can get in quickly with the grandchildren through the side doors. Plenty of room inside. Fuel consumption is acceptable.

Ok, I have had our Sedona now for a little over eight months and have 25k miles on the clock. On the whole, no major complaints about the car itself. Kia service, however is a disgrace. The 10k service came and went, not a single "niggle" was put right (tension slack in seatbelt, groaning from steering) The brakes were "renewed" but three months later needed doing again, AND the discs needed replacing AND both front tyres - you tell me. The car was broken into - insurance job for paintwork, valet (lots of blood when the little swine broke two windows) courtesy car. They got me to sign a form for a new picanto - then gave me a 1992 Datsun Sunny. Only half the paintwork was done - and no valet - Took three months to get a replacement radio.
Complaints with the car itself? - no centre console - A MAJOR drawback (they fit them as standard in the US, but not over here). The lack of space in the back is a drawback if the seats are in and, in all honesty, I have given up trying to get the seats out!

The story of my Kia Sedona so far.... at 19000 miles heated rear screen burnt out rear shocks leaking (2nd set)dealer caught wiring when fitting parking aid, bumper sensors not the same both sides looks odd, car broke down that night when my wife & I were going out for a meal,oh what fun!. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO BOON GATE KIA PETERBOROUGH. Do not expect Kia uk to help! After I have fitted the third set of defective shocks from Kia, I intend to depart company with my Kia Sedona SX TDI.

Where do i start this is my second sedona the first leaked oil on my drive as soon as i brought it home the the fuel system self distructed itself ,Kia couldn't fix it and after a battle they had to replace it with a new vehicle.
I have owned the second one for sice feb 2002 and it has covered 19500 miles .It has today had its 3rd set of pads and discs they are lasting 10000 miles a set. There is no pad warning light on dash pads to metal=ruined discs.
I had it serviced by a non kia garage the faults they found were leaking rear shocks faulty handbrake torn dust seal round piston on caliper leaking rear wheel cylinder and rust on the tailgate.

The paint job on the Kia Sedona is not excellent-clear topcoat is not sufficient to resist minor scratches.

The vehicle itself i have enjoyed driving it immensely but the cost of keeping the servicing for the warranty was far to much for my job and the big down side has been the brakes
big motor job i am doing was allways the excuse when friends are driving galaxcys sharans and getting 18000 on a set of bads doing the same job would like anouther one but price would have to come down on the servicing side and one sad side is all the money i spent at ditton service station
must be in the region of £2500 on servicing and pads now my warranty is up ive not had a thank you or reminder about my next service which i allways got when the warranty was in force not what i call good customer relations

My Kia Sedona MPV only has 15k miles on it and it has already spent 5 weeks in the damn shop. The service foreman has a real attitude and really hacks me off every time I have to deal with the Shop! I wish I could get a hold of the right person to get something done.

you didnt tell us what the van was in the shop for.....during 5 weeks

Are they providing you with a rental car during this time???

We bought an 'older' Kia Sedona MPV (X reg) 4 months ago, which has had a catalogue of mechanical problems ever since.
When it drives, it's great for our large-ish family of 5 getting out and about. Poor mechanicals mean we don't get to go out that much with it though, sadly.
Things started the week we were due to pick it up with an Immobiliser fault, it wouldn't move for 3 days whilst a part was being sourced.
Then the fuel gauge stuck at empty - been waiting 7 weeks now for a part.
The bearings in the driver's side wheel have just gone - sounds like a plane taking off and today it sprung an oil leak in the engine, causing masses of black smoke to come out the nicely designed air intake.
Oh yeah - have to add fuel additive to keep the overly-smokey emissions down.
I've had some great diesels before; this isn't one of them.
'Fur coat and..' comes to mind.
All under warranty which is one thing but this car has a large hassle factor attached... soon to be sold I think.
If you're going for a Sedona, get a new one.
Better still, get a Previa, Voyager, Galaxy ....
