Unbelievable. No other words to describe the feel of this car.

Everytime i get in the my 330ci M Sport I cant help but smile. Pulling the heavy door closed you know your in a high performance coupe. The noise when you start it up is fantastic, so much grunt and a deep bass note from the twin exhausts. Id say the smooth drive of the car is my favourite part but id be lying, its the attention the car commands. Its a genuine head turner, and you will always catch people checking it out when your at the lights.

Pros:

Solid Build
Unbelievable Performance
Genuinely Fun to Drive Fast
Safety features are great (thankfully never needed to use them)
TV/Sat Nav is a must

Cons:

If your going to buy a high performance car, don't go cheap on the only part of the car touching the road. Good tyres are pricey. Do not go to BMW for them, my replacements were quoted at £235 per tyre, but they can be bought elsewhere at a fraction of that - replaced the standard RE05s with CONTINENTAL SPORT CONTACT 2 for £149 per tyre.

Overall - Without a doubt the best car ive owned. Had it for 2 years, and although I considered upgrading to the new 3 series, the shape of the new one loses the aggression, its too bland. The e46 is a beast of a car, and looks ferocious before you've even turned the key. I can't bring myself to trade it in, i just love this car!

I love this car so much in summer but im finding it a nightmare once it snows. In fact the tiniest bit of ice and it is unable to cope. It slides around all over the place, it has no grip at all. Any ideas to improve this???

All Rear WHeel drive cars behave this way in snow and ice I'm afraid. If you want grip in the snow, then a FWD car with skinny tires is for you, although hardly as much fun as a Club Sport :-)

When driving a large engined rear wheel drive cars on ice or snow, use the highest gear that the car will pull so that you are using torque instead of horse power. I have driven lots of BMW's and also large engined classic Jaguars in ice and snow and have found the torque from these big engines makes driving in slippery conditions a cinch when using the correct technique.

We love this car the BMW330ci sport 2001, we've had it since new with nearly every extra added...sat nav, HK system, 6cd changer, heated seats, pdc, sliding sunshade u name it we've got it.

In 8 years we've only had a few non routine fixes including air con unit replacement but this car is our joy. I can remember the first time I drove it, magnificent. We get pleasure from her with every drive & it is pleasing that she can still turn heads after a shampoo & wax even at her age.

The only reason we will have to change this car is when we have our 3rd child as we can't fit 3 kids seats in...but we're certain we'll manage with 2 as we love this car so much we can't bear to get rid of her!

I have owned my BMW 330ci sport for 1 and a half year now and have to say this is one of the best cars i have owned and driven. I have modified it slightly, got it remapped, induction kit, lowered on eibachs, 19" deep dish alloys and sports exhaust, the bhp is about 260 and I have to say what a difference to when I had it standard. The handling is amazing and the power it just keeps going all the way through no flat spots. I would reccomend the remap to ne1. Mines is fully loaded with every extra which is rare as many buyer just like to buy the car but dont get extras. orient blue with cream leather and has harmon kardon with sat nav, tv, bluetooth, ect ect.

written by wbr4bruce on 16/08/2007

The BMW 330Ci is an excellent way to get around, comfort and style for a reasonable price (excluding the new models of course). Difficult to get more than 28 miles /gallon of revenue generating juice from the auto version, but if you're after mpg then you are on the wrong web site. 15,000 miles in 20 months and the tyres are only half worn?? (I can't be trying hard enough). Computerised service prediction is encouraging, still about 9000 miles until the next service which makes it far more believable than AUDI's version on the wife's TT. There are times that a four door car would be useful but this is far outweighed by the looks of a coupe, you can't beat it. Acceleration from any speed is good so long as you anticipate it and select SD to change down a gear before you need it, otherwise there is a delay while the gearbox sorts itself out. Overtaking is that much easier if you do this first.

Ipicked up the 02 BMW 3 Series 330 Ci Sport Coupe model in Jan this year, and I am really pleased with it. It has every optional extra you can get and has plenty of power when required. Makes a great sound and turns heads as purple/colour so do not see many like this around. I would recommend this model to anyone who wants a great car but not at M3 prices

I have had the BMW 3 Series 330 Ci Sport Coupe for 6 months now, and have changed the front discs and pads due to judder. Last month the problem came back after only 1k motorway miles. Having been told that it's a common fault with 330's, I am just a bit concerned about the future. I am seeking advice as to my next step. Any offers? Other than that, what a tidy bit of kit!

I have had my BMW 3 Series 330 Ci Sport Coupe for a couple of months and it's fantastic. It has auto and Suede which is so comfortable and quiet. It is Imola Red which is a superb colour and much more rare than the more common Black and Silver.

Great for racing down any type of road in sport mode (i had a motorway race with a CSL and he wasn't getting away, he was giving it all and I could hear, honest) or going to get the paper on a sunday morning. I shall tint the windows this month and the 19" AC Schnitzer wheels will arrive in January.

The 330 Coupe Sport is a real gem.

I had a 2001 BMW 3 Series 330 Ci Sport Coupe, silver, automatic, with just about every extra (including Harmon Kardon system and Hi-Fi speakers). I bought this brand new and it was a FANTASTIC car. Only ever been beaten at the lights or on the motorway by an M3, and some little VW (model unknown) which left me totally stunned! This is expensive to service and maintain... I pulled the door handle off and it was £120 for a new one! It eats tyres too, 3 or 4 sets a year and you'd be lucky to get one tyre for £130. Also the entire front suspension collapsed for absolutely no reason but BMW fixed it for free even though it was out of warranty. Unfortunately it was written off when someone hit the back end at 40mph and sent it spinning into a brick wall, but the airbags work! Just bought a 2002 model but couldn't find one with as high specification. Miss the Harmon Kardon and Hi-Fi speakers, well worth paying out for if you like your sounds.

written by VanB on 06/07/2004

I loved the BMW 3 Series 330 Ci Sport Coupe before I bought it and I still love it today. It really is a driver's car most of the time but can feel very un-involving unless driven hard. Personally I think it's very versatile being a great long range cruiser as well as an agile sharp handling sports car.

My only real complaint about the car is that at 2 years old and with only 26k miles the drivers seat (leather) is nearly worn through. The engine management unit has failed twice, the driver's electric window has failed twice, it needs a litre of oil every 3k miles and it seems to be a target for vandals in the car park.

written by dannyboy on 06/05/2004

I've now owned an BMW 3 Series 330 Ci Sport Coupe for just under a year. It's the 2004 model with a 6-speed manual gearbox and the sexy 18 inch wheels.

The first thing that I would suggest to anyone in the market for this type of car is not to compare it with another make/model. The reason for this is because I truly believe that this car is not the best in its class on paper. Which is just as well that we all drive cars on the road I guess.

The point I'm trying to make - rather badly - is just get out there and drive one and see for yourself. I liked the car when I bought it and I like it more nearly a year later. The cars natural balance under power is something a bit special.. don't be afraid to turn off traction control because this car is okay when it breaks traction.. don't panic and you will be okay most of the time.

These are characteristics we expect from a hardcore sports car and not an everyday nail. The most endearing quality with this car is that it does perform very well when you want to get home that bit quicker but that it is also enjoyable as everyday transport.

The only niggles that I have are: -

The rear seats squeak and rattle- BMW can't fix it and the passenger window makes a strange noise when it closes fully.

Oh and before I forget.. the best thing about this car is that my wife refuses to drive it because she is afraid of crashing it.. sweet.!

written by sanj. on 17/03/2003

bmw 330ci sport. black. manual. extras: xenon lights, mosiac yellow leather, sunroof, external flip mirrors, harmon kardon sterio.
although hardly an original choice, it offers exactly what you'd expect - speed, practicality, reliability and luxuary.
im sure better sports cars are available for the money, but as a day to day all rounder its hard to beat.
the accleration is quite impressive, although i find it too easy to activate the traction conrol. might be my driving style. tricky in the wet/snow. on one occasion got well and truely stuck in the snow. the cabin is great, with a few extras you'll get most gizmos you'll need. dont know if the harmon kardon upgrade was worth it.
i chose it over the audi tt, porsche boxter, merc clk. overall, im glad i did.

The 330Ci Sport and Club Sport models benefit from the M Sport steering wheel which gives a much better feel to the driving experience - although, in my experience does not look as good as the standars steering wheel.

The Club Sport also has a short shift gearbox which adds to the sports car experience.
