bought the 2011 hardrock sport disc,(hot uk deals £370.00) and its a massive improvement on anything else ive ever ridden, but it didnt take long before i wanted to upgrade things on it. the forks are pretty naff, i ride xc mainly and drop offs larger that 5 inches and rocky sections are pretty scary with only 80mm of travel to hide behind, yes the tyres are great on roads but not on muddy rocky trails. to be fair this bike is marketed as a commuter/trail bike and on the road its ok, although ive got a hybrid and its much better and faster on roads so i wouldnt recommend it as a commuter bike unless you rode mixed terrain to work or school. all that said ive rode this bike loads and before i knew the difference that upgrading the tyres(continental rubber queens) and upgrading the forks would make (suntour epicon rld) ive enjoyed myself immensely, the frame is great it makes the bike feel really aggressive and its easy to throw around and the bb5s once youve got them set correctly are pretty sharp on short blasts through a forrest xc downhill section, i would recommend this bike to anyone who wants to get an idea of what a decent mountain bike feels like, but im sure after riding this bike for a while you,ll want to upgrade the parts or get a more expensive bike

The Specialised Hardrock mountain bike is a great bike for the money would defo recommend. Comes with suntour Forks which are surprisingly good. An over all great bike which you can upgrade easily even comes with a proper threadless headset, so no messing about when changing stem / forks. Specialized bikes are a high standard and you're mainly paying for the frame, which will last you for ages. Also if you look online you can always find the previous yr model for a bargain.

Specialized hardrock is a great bike, nice solid light weight construction and a nice design. Its a a great starter bike for mountain biking and a pretty good price, very nice looking bike.when i first got this bike the shifting was a bit stiff but will get better over time.breaks are strong and nice big tyres. Overall awesome mountain bike for the money a highly recommend it to the beginner or pro.

This is a great all around bike. I've been using this bike off the rack and it has served me well on both urban and trail rides. It can handle around 2-ft jumps. The only problem I have encountered so far is the miss shifts on the cranks. The crankset sucks but nothing a minor upgrade won't fix.

Well its a really nice peice of equipment. It is just the smoothest ride i have ever taken i will never go back. My jeans keep getting caught in the cog and ripping them

Have had my Hardrock mountain bike for some time now. To enjoy the bikes full potential, you need to upgrade a bit. (Gears, seat, etc.) Great starter bike.

After looking around for a couple of months at most of the other brands, and wanting a bike within my pretty limited budget, meant that picking this up for £249 (as it had £50 off the rrp) I am well pleased. I took it up to my local mountain biking circuit the next day and was amazed how it handles the decents, climbs and drop offs. The only gripe I have is that I'm going to have to put a strip of outdoor sellotape on the top tube as I recon the cable is going to rub away the lovely finish in time, but hey, thats just me being picky ! Well worth the dosh !!

Bought this just over a year ago, a Specialized Hard Rock Sport 07 (the distressed army look). I should have bought a dirt jump bike instead, but the HR Sport handles everything okay.
The only issue I've had were the crappy metal stock pedals which I have swaped for sealed bearings platform FPDs which hold my foot in place a lot better when I jump.
I bought this because I liked the look of it and I'm told the frame (alloy) is one of the best in the industry, beating hands down more expensive bikes.
The forks are a little stiff and you can really feel it when you land. I'm a heavy guy (six foot - 104kgs) but the bike seems to be taking the abuse okay. But I think I might trade it in for a Derelikt Type 2 which would be a better bike for what I"m doing. Still the HR Sport has handled fairly well. It's pretty fast too.
Should have gone for the disk one rather than the V brakes one. I was a tight bum and thought "nah don't need 'em". Plus it instantly looks a lot more serious when you've got disk brakes. I don't know why they bother with the v brakes, even K Mart bikes have disc brakes these days.

This is a fun bike to ride. i've tried it on soft dirt, packed dirt, knobs, tree roots, gravelly loops, water filled loops, switch backs up and down, over grass, attacked steep hills. i'm planning to get a full suspension bike next year but i dont see myself ever getting rid of my sport. if not, i'll just upgrade small parts here or there. like a new saddle, bar ends, etc.

The Hardrock Sport is just one of my many bikes and is a surprisingly good bike considering the price. However, the wheels aren't very strong as they collapsed after a few months of street riding. The bike was maintained very well and now i have a new wheelset, it is amazing.

Perfect for street riding and comfort. I have street tires on mine, and was surprise to see how quick it was. Good bike!
