Apart from the above, I have not had problems with the vehicle.

I have owned the top of the line Ti for about 7 months and am very happy with the car so far. I believe for a four the engine is powerful but over all the car is a bit heavy. The car also tends to steer to the right when you accelerate hard from stand still. The steering tends to bump steer a bit as well. I find the tyres let the car down a bit, it doesn't take much effort to spin the tyres even in the dry. I find the brakes to be very good and the antilock system works well but again I think if it wasn't for the tyres the antilock system would be better. I also found that the engine tends to hold its revs up when you change gear this makes gear changing a little slow. The gear box is great smooth and precise but the gearing tall for city use, great on the highway though. Over all I find the X-Trail to be a nice family car cheap enough to maintain and pleasant to drive.

I have owned the vehicle for one month and travelled approximately 2000km. It is an easy and comfortable vehicle to drive although the centre mounted dials are annoying when driving in traffic. This is not a case of getting use to it, it simply takes longer than a conventional dash to check your speed in traffic. I will not buy another vehicle with this feature. The dials can be difficult to read due to reflections, especially the airconditioning controls which are often impossible to read. The climate aircon controls are situated too low and are not easy to adjust whilst driving. The seats are good as is the driving position, however the steering is too light on the highway. The 2.5lt engine has sufficient power and works well with the auto. It is a surprisingly competent and comfortable vehicle to drive on rough tracks and I had no problems getting into fishing spots that you could not take a conventional two wheel drive vehicle.

Spot on about the dashboard.
What a shame that such a fine car is spoilt
by a penny pinching idea behind a central
instrument pod.
I can only imagine that it saves Nissan some
money on left and right hand cars having
everything up the middle, but the dials are too
far away from the drivers eye and all the ventilationcontrols and CD underneath are down right dangerous.
