Our overall experience I would describe as very good. Directions to collection point at airport were precise and service to car hire site very good. Process to collect car was very good too. Staff were friendly and the process of completing paperwork easy. 8/10 for interior cleanliness of car - could have been better. Process of returning car- once I found site - effortless as was return journey to airport. Overall a good 9/10

“Pleasant surprise”

After using another company the year before ( who’s quote for this year was ridiculous), I began the task of searching for a replacement. It is apparent that every company you look at has its good and bad reviews so I decided on Drivalia. Once in the airport we found the transfer bus which was waiting for us and a short drive to the compound ensued. Here’s a tip, watch where the bus takes you because this is the way you need to go when returning the vehicle and in fact is quite easy to find. On arrival, we were met in reception by a lady who was very thorough and although we had paid for the insurance through the agent, she was pushing to get additional cover as she explained that the cover I took was not adequate if we were to make a large claim, I declined the offer. We got the keys and went outside to the car which looked brand new, the paperwork showed damage to one of the alloys but we thoroughly checked the car before we took it. When we returned the car, the compound was easy to find, the staff checked the car out and it was fine, the shuttle bus took us the airport and the experience was better than I had expected and I would definitely use them again. The price I paid overall, for such a good car made for a very pleasing choice and I one I would repeat in the future.

Although paid for the full package absolutely no problems. Picked up car in less than ten minutes never had that before! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to pay extra for full package next time. Worth all the aggro!

“Drivalia Alicante ”

We’ve been using Drivalia for a number of years, the staff are very helpful and do their best to get you on your way, the cars are nearly new and well looked after, the transfer from the airport to the office only takes a few minutes, we don’t use anybody else for our car hire

“Check fuel stations before you return.”

Overall a good experience but marred by the fact we missed the last opportunity to fill up and was charged €85 for €35 of petrol. The returning map was very clear but did not include fuel stations, something we have had with previous rental companies.

With the overwhelming majority of our packages the price is all-inclusive and there are no supplements in the event that you return with the incorrect level of fuel. On the most basic packages however there is a supplement in the event of the car not being returned full which should be laid our in the conditions at the time that you book.

You may like to know that if you book our Ultimate package (which is by far the most popular) then we waive any fees in the event of you not refuelling the car. You simply pay the missing fuel at the current market rate for the missing amount.

“"Super Service With A Smile"”

Alicante Airport 23/8/17 Having read numerous bad reports of car hire in Spain in respect of people incurring hidden charges, valeting / fueling / breakdown & recovery costs /unfriendly staff / tyre replacement / car damage etc etc, coupled with lengthy waits in arrival, i chose Drivalia after much research, and so so glad i did!! As a single dad with two 11 years, i wanted a hassle free experience!! Booked on line direct with the company, simple and straight forward. Just type in your request, (collection and return location and dates) choose the appropriate vehicle, and then you have various options in respect of insurance cover, and Full to Full on fuel, or return as is, pay and await receipt of your email confirmation and booking reference number. I would recommend the "Ultimate" cover because in "one" word this really reflects both the level of insurance (extremely comprehensive) you receive, including breakdown recovery regardless of circumstance,replacement car if applicable, and also sums up the customer service experience you receive on your arrival and return. Be aware there is an additional surcharge of 34.99 euro if collecting after 23.00hrs, as stated on their website. Having cleared baggage collection and immigration at around midnight on the 23.8.17 I and the kids proceeded to ground level (-2) and the designated collection (bus stops 1 - 3) point, to await transfer to their off site location, as per instructions on their confirmation email. Friendly bus driver arrived within 10 minutes loaded our cases and within 5 minutes we were collecting our car. As an Ultimate customer no waiting, staff check your passport, and driving license, signed their paperwork, and given a choose of three different cars. Choose and go.The car was spotless inside and out and was practically new. Whole process from transfer to being on our way 20 minutes top and you have a little map for getting off and onto site too. The return experience 10 minutes, quick check that the car is intact (nothing stolen)and fuel tank full if you agreed Full to Full and your on you way to departures. I can honestly say the whole experience exceeded my expectations, from the polite, and efficient way their staff deal with you, and yes they speak English too. I would highly recommend this company, and their Ultimate Package (one payment at time of booking, other than your refuel) and they will be my first and only choice every time in the future. “Some times size doesn't matter”

I usually go with the big global brands when on business travel but this time to save costs we chose this company and were very pleased with their staff, their english language and understanding was great. The vehicle was clean, tidy and was able to fit all our 3 large 22kg bags in. The only downside was the waiting as we were in a short queue of around 20 mins. Also the excess damage waiver was more than I would usually pay but this was offset by the lower cost of the rental. I would be happy to use these guys again. .

“Good service and car collection”

This was our second time to rent a car in drivalia (Alicante). Both times service has been very friendly and great. Cars has been good conditions and we had just the vehicle what we have order or even better. Last year we order it too small car and Drivalia update this bigger model whitout any extra charges. This year we get to choose the vehicle. We orderit 5+2 seated car but we get it 7 seated car whit good trunks space. Drivalia Office in Alicante is near the Airport and the shuttle bus working well. This year we return our car out of office hours and that was very easy too. I highly recommend Drivalia to others. I think that our experience has been great and whole process is been smooth becouse we buy the full cover to our rental cars so there is no extra cost when you go to pick up the car. You know exactly the price. Basically you just show your driven license (and passport if you are first-timer) and reservation number and get the car. This take only few minutes. Just for notice: this was our fifth trip to same area and we have rent a car every time. Drivalia experience has been best so far.

“Excellent apart from fuel policy”

Efficient, prompt and courteous service. The downside is the bus from and to airport as location is about a mile from airport but the bus service is good. Also who uses a full tank of diesel in Mallorca? It is a small island so the return empty policy leaves a bad taste but this seems to be standard with a lot of providers now. I would recommend Drivalia and will use again unless i can find a similar deal with a better fuel policy.

“1st time & a good experience ”

Easy collection by minibus and friendly staff , small crowded collection office though (15-20min wait) . Got a brand new car to hire and the price was exactly as II was quoted online (no extra hidden costs but I did take the Ultimate package). Return process was easy , the directions given by staff were great and helpful. Would I use them again - Yes I would . Even though they not in the terminal building I had a good experience overall . Better than I can say for some of those companies within the terminal building! Thanks Drivalia for helping make our holiday an enjoyable one

“Drivalia Alicante Airport October-November 2016”

My 9th rental with Drivalia at Alicante. Minibus pickup excellent, took less time to their site about 1 mile from terminal pick-up than waiting at terminal based desks. Usual hard-sell of extra insurance but I politely declined as I have my own annual excess policy. Fiesta 1.25 (approx. 1 year old) with 13 damage details (carefully listed on separate page) so not easy to check if any extra damage on collection but no problem with damage check on returning car. I used AutoEurope to book on a fuel Full/Full basis for £88 for 2 weeks so good value. I did have to re-book in August as the price was £125 when I originally booked in July. AutoEurope refunded the difference no problem. I will use them both again. Would have given 5 Stars Overall rating but for car having so many damage items although non were serious.

Everything went smoothly although there was a hard sell for the in-house excess insurance cover despite the fact that i had my own. Car damage was inaccurately logged but that was dealt with a in a very reasonable manner by helpful staff.

We certainly don´t try to make clients feel pressure when it comes to our additional cover but we do firmly believe in the benefits that it has to offer. Nevertheless this cover is of course optional.

The shuttle bus picks you up at stops 1 to 3 on the bottom floor of teh airport. Directions given when booking. I always go for the ultimate package which covesr everything but cost depends upon the vehicle and duration of hire. Go online or e mail them for a quote

I hired a car with them last sept . I was 72 and did not have to pay any supplement. They were excellent and very low cost. I think we paid £37 for 10 days! I have my own annual excess insurance policy so did not need any “extras” they did not Hassle me to pay any more

Hi I am looking to hire a car from Alicante airport but my driving licence has my married name and my passport has my maiden name. Would this cause a problem? You can clearly see it’s the same person by my photo but I’ve not changed my passport yet into my married name.

I always use Drivalia at Alicante Airport. If you have their Ultimate package then you do not have to pay a deposit. Also that package covers every thing. Hope this helpos.

Hi, if you are in the UK, use one of the agencies, such as Carjet.com. You can then chose to pay on arrival in £ or Euros. The added benefit is that CarJet have their own top up insurance that is much, much cheaper than the rental company. The only downside is that if you do have a mishap, you have to pay up and claim it back from the CarJet insurance. Their website is very explicit and explains all about it. Oh, and the prices are good ! Drivalia is often one of the choices on the CarJet site, but I use GoldCar because their reception is in the airport and the cars are not off site, but have used Drivalia many times direct without any problem

I have used Drivalia at Alicante for the past 2 years and plan to use them again this year. They are the best carhire company I have dealt with. I took out their ultimate package last year which costs a fair bit more but you are completely covered and do not have to leave a credit card deposit. On return of the car you just hand over the keys and get straight on the minibus. Well worth the extra cost for complete peace of mind during your stay.

I always use "Do You Spain.Com" when I book a car. You can pay on arrival or prepay before you go. Buy your Carhire ins before you go. A lot cheaper than paying the car hire company's. I use carhirexess.com you can cover yourself annually for around £40. Geoff127.

Used Drivalia for the past two years with no problems. I spend 28 days in Spain each year, however this year they have limited the maximum hire time to 25 days! All other hire companies limit to 31 days. Many of my friends have now selected other companies, looks like I will be joining them. Why after building up a good customer base would Drivalia do this, seems designed to lose customers?

You could always return before the 25 day period is up and do a new rental. The problem with the other car companies is that they require the use of a credit card for the initial payment/ deposit. Great if you've got one, useless if not!

Hi, SolMar were just down the road (about 300 metres more) from Drivalia (In Alicante), they were pretty good apart from the long time we waited to collect the car. We always use EconomyCarHire.com to find a rental so it may be worth looking them up as they are extremely good.

I use Drivealia all the time and currently have a car for 6 weeks. It is just the 'on-line' booking system that doesn't quote for more than 25 days. You put the dates in you want and then when it tells you to contact them because it is more 25 days, you just tap on their email address and ask for a quote. They reply very quickly and you pay on pickup. I have just taken a Basic Plus package plus extra driver for six weeks for just €263.29. I cover my excess with a policy through Insurance4carhire.

I used Drivalia twice last year. On the second occassion I wanted a 34 days hire which I couldn't do online. I wrote to them and they accepted the booking via email without any problems. Good customer service. Not sure why you can't online.

No idea why Drivalia should buck the 31 day trend. Personally my average trip maxes out at 21 days so no impact on me. I have tried several hire companies and Drivalia is the best by a country mile. Has anyone asked Drivalia why change. As remarked elsewhere you could always return after say 21 days and re-hire, but that would only be convenient if your holidaying close to the rental centre, and that's not always the case.

I can't remember, just that it was a bit off putting to have to make choices quickly while standing at the desk. It is essentially excess insurance to cover things like wing mirrors, roof, trim, tyres etc that are excluded from the mandatory insurance.If you do have an accident it's highly likely that something on the excess list will be affected and the best way to avoid this cost is to take out your own car hire excess policy before travelling. This works out much cheaper and you can comfortably say no to any extra package offered when you turn up at the airport. Nearly all car hire companies do the same thing and in every other sense this is a good hire company.

Don't buy the car hire 'extra' insurance from the Car Hire Company, whoever they are. They are all too expensive. Simply buy the excess cover from one of the many UK insurance providers before you go for a fraction of the cost. Just search car hire excess and you can then compare options and prices. Take your policy certificate with you to show your car hire company if required.

Did not take extra insurance. We had taken out Car Hire Excess Insurance Policy before travelling for €47.18 in total. This was done through mondial-assistance which is underwritten by Allianz. The rental was very competitive and have no problem with recommending Drivalia

I cant quite remember, but the pricing is on their website. and also, you can write an email and ask them. they were not pushy about selling us additional insurance like we have experienced from the other car rentals there, it was fast, clean, convenient, friendly, and good price. I will not rent from anyone else again in Alicante!

If you intend hiring cars abroad for more that one week in any year then buy an annual policy before you go for about £40.00 subject to conditions. I had annual insurance when I hired from Drivalia and they did not pressure me to take their insurance in any way, very unusual! I could not fault them in any way.
