We Drove 45 Miles To Moss End Boarding Kennels & C

We drove 45 miles to Moss End Boarding Kennels & Cattery, in Huby, near Easingwold in North Yorkshire. This was based on a recommendation by friends. We were looking to book in two dogs for two weeks, six months in advance. This would have cost us £252 according to their website http://www.mossendkennels.co.uk/ which seemed a reasonable amount to pay.

When visiting possible boarding kennels, the advice I have always been given is to turn up unannounced and ask to be shown around. Good kennel owners will be happy to give you a tour. We had already visited three other kennels prior to attending this location, owners of which had all shown us around the business premises, kennels, exercise area etc.

Based on the above, we turned up mid day, 12.15hrs and went to the main reception. We told the staff member that we were looking to place our dogs in their kennels and asked if we could have a quick look around the kennels and exercise area.

We were rather bluntly told by the lady at reception that they were about to have lunch and that by all means we could make and appointment to come back later. We advised that we had travelled some distance to view the kennels and we would only take up 5-10 minutes of their time. Despite this the lady still refused to show us around the location.

This has never happened to us when viewing kennels before, and something stuck out like a sore thumb as not being right. My advice would be to stay away from any kennels that refuses to let you have a look around there and then.

It raises the question of what do they have to hide?
