I Have Visited Oscars Many Times & Find Both The S
I have visited Oscars many times & find both the service and the food quality highly variable. The best visits I'd rate them at 4/5. The last time was rotten (1/5). My nieces Nacho's were so covered in salsa (actually tasted more like a cold pasta sauce) and sour cream that the they were soggy & horrible. My chicken was overcooked, the haggis parcels were greasy, the waitress acted like she was doing us a favour when taking orders, my sons pizza was just cheesy mush... Maybe a different Chef on a Sunday afternoon cause I heard other tables complain too.
On other visits the food has been good, though not great.. Reason we go back cause there is nowhere better in Livingston & they do have a good menu with a range of British and American dishes, plus a choice of steaks. Their steaks are ok, but not good enough for a steakhouse & they never get the cooking level right, plus one side always has a burnt tast (overdone even for chargrill)
Price-wise their lunch menu is pretty well priced. Their full-price menu could result in a reasonable large bill, especially if going for steaks.
A very negative message here but it could be worth a visit based on my earlier visits.. If I don't hear better reviews though I won't be back.
