Verdin Arms, Middlewich

Travelling a lot i often stop over at Verdin Arms in Wimboldsley. The staff give a lovely warming welcoming and having several meals each time i have something different and highly recommend the Verdin Arms.

Whether it's down to location, or the fact that people don't know it's been taken over, I'm not sure, but each time I go here the place is almost empty, which is a shame because the food/service is superior to the run-of-the-mill pub grub you tend to get at many eateries.

What's good? The food (typical British menu with some interesting starters). Puddings tend to be on the heavy side (they do a chocolatey one which requires a 12 minute preparation time - worth the wait). Nice hand-pulled beers. Service is friendly and efficient. .

What's not good?

Quantities. Three small pieces of potato on the Sunday roast? Someone is either having a laugh or has the price of potato suddenly sky-rocketed?. Whether the miserly portions of potato puts me off visiting the Verdin Arms again I doubt, though it certainly irked me.
