This companies service gets worse with each delivery but this one just tops it!!! Every time I know something is being delivered by Hermes I cringe as I know it will either go missing, the driver will say I wasnt in when I was or something else. On this occasion I had ordered an outfir for a baby, I was in all day on the day of delivery but they decided to dump my parcel in my neighbours rubbish bin!!!! And take a photo to prove delivery. My neighbour had placed their household waste all over the parcel and I had to dig through this to retrieve it. Not great in normal times let alone when we are in the middle of a health crisis. Absolutely disgusting!!!!

Hermes delivered a small television set to us, supplied by John Lewis. We were notified at 3.15am on Sunday that it would likely be delivered within the next 48 hours. We had already committed ourselves to the whole afternoon on Monday so when Hermes emailed to say it would be delivered that day between 3.00 and 5.00, and unable to find on their website anywhere to reschedule it, we arranged with our next door neighbours for them to accept it and filled in the appropriate electronic form which was acknowledged by Hermes. Another email from Hermes announced that it had been delivered at 1.41 but when we got home, our neighbours knew nothing about it and their doorbell camera showed nothing. Gathering the junk mail from our doormat to throw away, we happened to notice a Hermes slip saying the package had been hidden behind our bin, and there it still was!, undamaged. My complaints: 1) that there is no provision to be able to reschedule a delivery. 2) that the delivery was made 1 hour and 20 minutes outside the time slot - make the time slots match what is achievable. 3) the revised delivery address was not successfully relayed to the driver. 4) the evidence photograph of the package in an "open doorway" was actually in front of a closed door. 5) although on this occasion the parcel was reasonably well hidden from the street, someone seeing a courier carrying a package to an out of the way place behind bins might have their suspicions aroused, investigate and help themselves. Further, the package was not weather protected and hidden in an exposed position. In this situation I don't see that Hermes can defend itself if accused of not delivering a parcel or letting it be ruined by rain. 6) Hermes doesn't appear to have anywhere where one can readily lodge a complaint.

Received a text from Hermes stating I was due a delivery between 5 and 7pm. However, already being out when I saw the text I was unable to do anything about it at that point.(Weirdly I have no outstanding orders from the company the parcel was being sent from - but that's another story!) Returned home at 7.45pm did a few things and then realised package hadn't been delivered - or so I thought. I checked the tracking link and there was a photograph from 5.45pm of the parcel propped against my closed front door. The front door is plainly visible from the road. We hunted around outside a little bit and checked behind our side entrance gate (just in case it had grown legs and walked) but were unable to find it so of course have come to the conclusion that it has been stolen by an opportunistic thief walking by. I cannot believe that a parcel would be left on the doorstep in plain view on a roadside. We had left lights on for our dogs, but that does not mean the delivery person should assume we are home. We have had other parcels delivered by Hermes without issue - because one or the other of us were home - but evidently they cannot be trusted to take care of your parcels if you are unfortunately out when they show up.

I had some bad experience with Hermes. It was not the first time happen to me. They sent my parcels to my neighbour without noticed anything to me. Unfortunately, my neighbour is the house which converted into students residential. There is more than 10 students rent in many apartments in the house. The Hermes tracking system showed that the parcel was delivered to my address but I have not received any items from them. After discussed with the sellers, I began asking the students from one after another (of course I can't ask everybody). Nobody knew about the parcels. A month later, the landlord came to my house with the parcel and told me that he found it in common area in the student house. Hermes should make sure that they deliver the parcel to the correct address. They should leave a message/card if the recipient is not at home to notice how to get the parcel. Based on my experience, I really not prefer to use Hermes unless they improve their services. Thanks.

First be warned when something does go wrong it goes very wrong with hermes - parcels says problem on status - so you contact and get a whole load of .... to say customer refused parcel only to find out the customer did not refuse so you contact again and this is why I say it goes very wrong - they don't bother to respond to the problem or address it in anyway. Secondly only today I got a card saying attempted collection but was home all day and evening so the courier comes at around 19:00 hrs jumps out of his van and posts the card without even ringing the buzzer ( obviously he filled the cards in before hand and probably quite a few and just quickly and quietly posts them so no waiting around to scan or collect the parcels which is his job - incompetence. I send on average 60 odd parcels per week and was using hermes - no more will be spending a few pence more on a service I can rely on ( that will teach me to go cheap - not worth it given the hassle and problems associated with this courier )

I have been selling bit on Ebay and the cost of other Parcel Delivery services appeared expensive, so trier Hermes at first looked a good service or so I thought until they lost the first parcel, than the second both insured and clearly marked on the label what the parcel contained. To get the insurance payout takes 14 working days in reality 3 weeks!!!!!! so 10 days before they will take the claim than 3 weeks before the pay out providing they do!! Try tell the person that bought the item you have to wait for Hermes to pay you, I know they are running a business but we as customer's pay to keep them going and it does look rather suspicious that both item were insured for between 100 - 250 pounds will I use Hermes in the future probable not I cant afford the time

I would give them a higher rating but the new driver I have is just a joke. I order from a particular company and I have not had any issues before but now I have. An attempted delivery was made on Tuesday and upon seeing the card I called and requested it be delivered on Saturday on recommendation of the person on the phone. I was surprised they hadn't left it with a neighbour which they have done a few times recently and I am not short on neighbours that would take a delivery from me. The following day they attempted the delivery again but wait we agreed Saturday. So I called the retailer and Hermes to stress SATURDAY. Today I checked the online tracking and someone had been but not possible as two people are home with one persons room next to the front door! I called Hermes and was told oh the driver has gone I'll send an email to the complaints department. Next called the retailer and was informed that the driver said there was restricted access but yet they were able to gain access the other two days and the other days they have delivered. Once yet again I requested Saturday. But knowing my luck they'll come tomorrow and claim no one is here when someone will be here tomorrow ALL DAY. Whatever happened to the other driver that had the sense to drop the parcel at a neighbours and knew how to use a buzzer. Please bring back the other driver he knew what he was doing. This new one doesn't.

Our local My Hermes courier is fantastic, its a shame they are not all like her. I sell on EBay and i have had broken goods, undelivered goods and lost goods. My last experience is the final straw with using the Company. it has took 2 weeks up to yet and the parcel is now back at depot. I have called My Hermes, live chat, emailed and officially complained to them and still have had no response. Total waste of time and poor customer services. A shame really as they are a cheap option, but cannot afford all the hassle and letting people down with goods.

For a year I had been using Parcel2Go to book Hermes. Very convenient. Then a consignment of research materials didn't arrive. Hermes wouldn't help. They said that my conract was with Parcel2Go who can't be contacted as their website has no contact details. I put in a claim which was paid but the research expewriemnts can't be run again, so in that respect priceless. THree weeks later, a sack of firewood (literally) was delivered with the label from the original parcel attached. I have now seen the beat up old vehicles collecting the parcels (could they really be MoT'd?)some I guess you get what you pay for. ParcelForce in future. May cost a lot more but you know that it will arrive.

Had a parcel delivered which I had won on ebay, although the package had been delivered it was left outside my front door without my knowledge as I have a tendency to use the back door as I live on the ground floor of a block of flats. the card had not been posted into my letterbox to let me know of the delivery, luckily, it is pretty safe where I live and the package did not go awol after sitting there overnight.

I'd decided to use Hermes' Parcelshop service through La Redoute because I thought it would be a more convenient way to save on a seemingly unnecessary £4 delivery charge, otherwise, for one item. Hermes had dispatched the item accordingly to my chosen Parcelshop point - a newsagent 10-15 minutes away from where I live. However, it soon became clear to me that this was the worst courier manoeuvre I'd even contemplated. The first time I visited the newsagent, they had my parcel but it wasn't registering on their Hermes PDA/barcode device, while other parcels at the time were showing up on said device. I was advised to come back a subsequent day in the hope of my parcel appearing on the system. That didn't happen when I visited the next time - or three days after that, even though prior to my third visit I was contacted by the newsagent and informed my parcel was 'live' and ready for collection. I visited that Parcelshop point THREE times, and each time experienced the same issue. On the ultimate visit, I was made to feel like somehow it was my problem and even told to contact Hermes myself to get the parcel redelivered, even though the newsagent was the one withholding my parcel and Hermes had been instructed to deliver it there. Eventually and thankfully, another assistant had been summoned and figured out my parcel *was* on the system, it just was invisible for some unknown reason. After almost a week of being denied it in plain sight, I finally collected my order. It was my first time using Hermes Parcelshop and after that experience, it will definitely be my last. Even though Hermes controls La Redoute's standard £4 delivery to one's home address, I'd rather incur that extra charge if it means assured reliability, punctuality and above all congenial, stress-free customer care. In cases such as collection points, I'm sticking to Collect+ as I've virtually never had issues with them.

I have only ever had excellent and polite couriers but I dont know how anyone can work for the company. Unable to print a label, having paid £7.48. I wrote barcode on parcel, a courier collected it but returned it to me following day, without actual label he was unable to forward it. I had already waited 24 hours for an email (telling me how to proceed)which never arrived, finally waited 25 mins. in queue to /'chat help' eventually connected to a total numpty who said she was sorry I couldn't print the label but suggested I might go to my library to print it ! This despite my telling her I could have asked my neighbour to print it but the document was not one you could copy and email. Like so many other organisations they provide no tel. no. Anyone have any ideas about what I can do now ?? A A WOOD

They are the cheapest by far, but as usual, you get what you pay for. Out of about 60 parcels sent 6 have been smashed by the time they get to the customer. RUBBISH ! They are actually costing me money now in refunds as there is no insurance on breakable goods. WOULD NOT RECOMEND UNLESS YOU SENDING RUBBER ITEMS.

I ordered a parcel from the US as part of the global shipping program through a well known company. Everything went fine in terms of tracking until it reached the UK. On 14/05/14 a neighbour knocked on my door and told me that a courier (HERMES) had left a card at the communal stair door downstairs. The neighbour who had been standing at the bus stop outside stated the courier put the card under the door and left. I phoned up the number on the card from Hermes and then sent a text to the courier who replied by saying that he "was no longer in the area and would deliver tomorrow 15/05/14 between 10-12." I asked why he had not pressed my buzzer as I was in at the time and got no response. I then sent another text that said he should just text me and I would come down and meet him at the stair door. Again no response. I personally do not acknowledge leaving a card at a communal stair door as an attempted delivery as anyone could basically pick up the card and I would be none the wiser. Of all the couriers I have used previously, and there has been many, none have failed (not even Yodel!) to put a card through my actual front door when I was not in. It is not hard to gain access to my front door as the communal stair door is always open and the intercom system works fine regardless. I live on the second floor so it is hardly a trek! The next day 15/05/14 I waited in again and watched out my window and there was no second delivery attempt. After numerous calls and searches I was able to get the most recent tracking number and when checking the Hermes website tracking page it stated that a second delivery attempt had been made on 15/05/14 at 10:44 and failed and that the courier would try again the next day. This information was false. No attempt was made at all as will later be explained. On the 16/05/14 (today) I actually waited outside my stair for two hours in the morning and got a text from the courier saying they would try and deliver in the next five minutes. He then showed up and I asked him what had happened the previous two times. On the first delivery attempt he said he did press the buzzer but there was no answer. My intercom works fine but maybe he pushed the wrong button so I can accept that as these things can happen. For the second attempted delivery on 15/05/14 he said he was not actually working that day and someone else had been off work who was supposed to sort it out. This is not what is stated on the Hermes tracking website which classed this non attempt at delivery as an actual attempt at delivery! In the end I signed for my parcel and was just extremely grateful that I have got it as I had read some of the horror stories of other people about Hermes who have not been as lucky in getting their items. This first time experience of using Hermes makes me think twice about using them again. I can accept human error but the fact is there is no proper customer service support in place to help people when parcels are lost or not delivered on time. This is an incredible oversight from Hermes and is totally unacceptable. They apparently will respond to the enquiry of a seller but not the actual buyer who has bought and paid for the item and whose address they will actually be delivering to. I should not have to get specific delivery information from a courier as most of the time the problem is in finding out when the courier is supposed to show up in the first place! I have given Hermes a two star rating but this is mainly for the courier who did actually have the decency to text me and let me know he was on his way, and who may have pressed the wrong button previously, and also for the fact the parcel was in great condition and the item inside was in working order, but otherwise the service is poor. I hope Hermes works on creating a proper customer support system in the future that can help people stay informed of the status of their parcels and can work to help them if something goes wrong with them. There is no reason why this should not happen. On the delivery card I received it said they would make three attempted deliveries and then have to send the item back to the sender. As far as I am concerned only one genuine attempt was made in this respect. I cannot help but wonder how many times this three attempted deliveries policy has been applied to people who through no fault of their own have lost out in having items delivered due to the bumbling inadequacies of Hermes themselves. The actual god Hermes would be turning in his grave at all this. If he were real that is.

When putting our dustbins out today we found a black bag which had been delivered from Debenhams - don't know when but it must have been in the previous 4 days. It was left down the side of the house, where we don't go. No card had been left indicating that a parcel was there. On checking the tracking system it stated that the parcel had been "left in porch" - problem is that we don't have a porch!! Service of this kind does not reflect well on the Company that the courier works for or on Debenhams for using this Company.

Any excuse seems to be a pattern with this company. They just don't care whether you receive the package or not. If it's upstairs, they'll say "restricted access", if nobody's home (or they think they can get away with it), they'll say it was 'left with neighbour', 'card left', fake a signature, leave it in the bins or in the rain, or just take it home. Once THE COMPUTER says it's been delivered, consider it lost. If your seller uses HERMES, find another seller or don't expect to get your parcel.
