I called into the Varsity on the offchance of a pint and a snack. As its name suggests it's really aimed at the local large student population with various offers and "funky" marketing. Grabbed a table and with pint in hand made my way through the unchanging menu. "bucket" appear to be their small-range, with "buckets" to share for those fun loving students, and burgers, chilli, jacket potatoes etc available for good measure. There's also a children's menu. The plates I watched going by were plentiful, looked appetising and seemed to please fellow diners. My choice of two buckets - skin on "sumo" chip with hot-sauce and the indian selection of bahji, pakoras etc was fine and plenty as a main meal. It's quirky and fun, staff are fabulous but better as a match watching destination that seriuos dining (they have countless tvs and Sky Sports).
