“Totally awful experience ”

I ordered wardrobes and was looking forward to getting them. They were installed then I noticed the cornice and plinth were a different colour than the doors. The paint and cornice were a taupe shade and the doors a grey shade. Also one of the doors bowed slightly. I went to the store in Boucher Road in Belfast expecting to be dealt with in a helpful and professional manner- how wrong was I. I then received a call from the “Customer Service” Department in Dungannon who alerted very rude and totally refused to help - oh but if I paid to have the problem fixed they could fix it!!!! Also were extremely rude and told me I didn’t have any rights! Now I am having to go to the Ombudsman and the small claims court to get a resolution and I will never be shopping at Starplan again. These bad reviews seem to be a trend off late unfortunately if you look at Trustpilot!

“Avoid at all cost”

I purchased 2 built-in wardrobe. I paid a fair bit of money for both. Upon inspecting the slide robe that was installed I noted that there was a damage on one of the glass door. The Starplan shop in Portadown that I made my order with told me it has nothing to do with them and I had to liaise with a customer service manager who is no help. This person has been extremely unhelpful and promptly sent me two emails to say I will need to pay for a new door as I am only getting in touch 7 weeks after installation. I am encouraging prospective buyers to go elsewhere. The money you will save will not compensate for the poor after-sales service that comes after. I have noted from other reviews that Starplan’s poor customer service is not unique to me. I spent in excess of four thousand pounds for a product that is damaged and to fix this damage I have been asked to pay more money. I am warning future potential customers please please please avoid Starplan. I would not recommend them and would give them zero stars if possible. In the current economy Starplan should take a look at the way they treat customers. Its horrid that they are so quick to take your money and once you have parted with your money thats the end of it. Do not be taken in by the shops that you initially contact. Once the items are installed the shop will tell you it has nothing to do with them and they pass you to a very unhelpful customer service manager. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid

“Awful office work & planning”

If it wasn’t for the fitters who performed brilliantly our daughters bedroom would have been a complete botch up! We had a feeling after our first visit to the showroom in Warrington that we were not being listened to or understood despite several visits. Eventually when the fitting day arrived it was no surprise that the measurements taken by the man at their office were not correct and therefore we now have a bedside dressing table with just set one of drawers on the left instead of set either side because of those incorrect measurements. We were refunded just the minimal cost of the one set of drawers with no consideration for the way the bedroom now looks compared to who we envisaged it. We are also still waiting for replacement doors and surfaces as their finish from the factory were not to our liking. For what we spent on the bedroom I would definitely avoid the Warrington branch. Only positive would be the guys that came out to fit the bedroom. They were first class and tried their best to overcome the hurdles their office gave them in regards to measurements and plans. I suspect they were used to it. My recommendation would be that individuals with experience of the ‘fitting trade’ should be who the public speak to when they first visit the Warrington showroom. Their ideas, insight and experience would have been priceless at the start of our journey rather than just a sales person.

From the initial showroom contact, which was welcoming and informative, to the very helpful and professional home planning stage and the installation of the final fitted bedroom furniture we’d struggle to praise starplan any higher. Communication throughout the process was faultless. On the day the fitters did an outstandingly fine job, nothing was too much trouble and the finish is of a very high standard. Small touches weren’t missed and the final product is exactly as planned. No mess was left and we were even left with three spare shelves. The huge smile on our son’s face when he saw the finished bedroom will stay with us, and him, for a very long time!

This is the second time we have used Starplan and we are once again delighted with our new wardrobes. From start to finish it’s been a fantastic service. From Abbi who we initially dealt with, she spent lots of time helping us make our choices and designed our wardrobes to the fitting by the guys who were exceptional, nothing was too much trouble, They were extremely professional and went that extra mile to make sure we were very happy with the finished product, Thanks again starplan, exceptional customer service. We would definitely recommend.

Dodgy start . First sales/measure up person left company without notifying us . Had no problems afterwards. Went to different showroom, got new salesperson. Changed my layout and style without any hiccups. 3D view shown . Drawn up plans were as specified.Arrived and fitted to schedule. Fitters we’re great and showed me how to take out drawers on my order 292474/73 . Jobs a good-un. Thank you .

We were very happy with the whole process from the initial conversation to the fitting of the wardrobes. The salesman was very professional and very knowledgeable and we did not feel rushed or pressured. The process of ordering although took a while was not onerous and we enjoyed the experience. We sat in the showroom to do the order and it really helped that they had examples of everything so that for each question we had about colour, fittings, handles etc we could just have a look round and see what the finished product would look like. This was really useful. The company stuck to timescales to fit in with us and the fitting was speedy and professional. Any small issues were quickly sorted and we are extremely pleased with the result. We replaced the fitted wardrobes in 2 bedrooms and they look brilliant. We are really happy with them. A big thank you to the whole team for a great job.

Would give 0 stars if I could, very rarely leave bad reviews, but this was the worst company I have ever dealt with. Sales agent came to property and measured incorrectly, the fitters (who were great, the only part of the company that are) had to improvise on the day of fitting. Gave cash deposit and asked if there was anything else I needed to do, was told no. 3 weeks later, I chased them up as I had not received an answer to a separate question, to be told the installation hadn't even been booked in and was delayed a month as I hadn't responded to an email (there was no email to reply to, and had been told there was nothing else I'd need to do). After 2 failed promised call backs i phoned to complain about the whole process from start to finish and they really couldn't care less, no apologies, really defensive and aggressive. The person that dealt with my complaint genuinley said 'my managers stood here at the side of me and he says what you on about there's nothing wrong with it'. Pay the extra and go with a proper company, or go across the road to IKEA and spend less but at least you won't get treated like dirt if something goes wrong.

Order number: SK288275 I had 2 bedrooms fitted yesterday and I am absolutely delighted with the finished design and fitting. From the initial design meeting to the finishing of the fitting the experience with Starplan has been very easy. The designer was very helpful, warm and friendly in addition to being professional and courteous. The fitters are obviously very skilled. The fitters were polite and friendly and worked solidly for over 6 hours to produce 2 fitted bedrooms which I am thrilled with. Many many thanks to all involved. I highly recommend Starplan. Nuala

We moved in our new bungalow and happened upon ‘Starplan’ by chance whilst out shopping in Warrington. We went into the store and received a warm welcome. We initially spoke to the furniture designer. We had a look around the bedrooms on show and arranged a date for home visit and design. He arrived exactly when he said he would and measured up. He asked we followed him back to store giving him an hour. We arrived back at store where he had drawn up clear and concise plans. He was able to show us a three ‘D’ image of what our bedroom would look like. We were happy with the plans paid our deposit and then within a couple of days we’re given a date for fitting. Our drawings were completed on the 11th Feb our deposit paid our wardrobes were fitted on the 31st February. We cannot fault the customer service we received. Being kept in touch every step of the way. All staff we dealt with were efficient and courteous and knowledgeable. The design looks good and the quality of the furniture and fitting standard is high. The price was competitive. All in all very happy.

“Star plan review for fitted bedroom”

We had a full bedroom fitted on 02,12,20, I have to say, the initial service was really good from the lady who came out to measure up and do the plans with us, to the initial fitter, but it went down hill after that and the after care team were appalling, We contacted them in January 21 to advise of a few things that weren’t right with the bedroom, including one of the wardrobe doors not fitting properly, after 6 different fitters revisiting on several occasion throughout the year, in which one fitter actually advise you won’t get a door to fit properly, we contact again for them to send another fitter, who actually pulled the wardrobe out, damaging the paperwork and painting and sealant round the original fitting,( he never told us about the damage) he advised the wardrobe wasn’t fit right and he would speak to a manager who would contact us, no contact has made to this day and as we are the ones who continually chased things up, we decided it was too stressful and upsetting to continue and would have leave it as it is and sort the repairs to the wall paper and other bits out ourselves. The cost of the bedroom was over £5000, we was going to do another bedroom but defiantly would not use Star-plan again

I have free standing starplan furniture and I am moving shortly. I am extremely concerned that I will not be able to dismantle the wardrobes myself. They are very heavy, and I foresee difficulties getting them up and down stairs unless they're dismantled. If you could please advise.

We bought a fitted Starplan bedroom suite for our daughter and had to move the free standing StarPlan furniture out. My husband did not actually dismantle it, but managed to move it to another room with his brothers' help. There was no damage done to it and it now resides in our spare bedroom. The wardrobe was a double one with drawers in the middle. Hope this helps.

I purchased a King's size bed and mattress from Star Plan in Coleraine in April 2016. I had problems with the mattress i.e.bad back and not being able to sleep. I've turned the mattress and it feels like I'm lying on a sack of potatoes and not able to get up out of bed to after 3pm each day in misery. I visited the shop and was met with a negative/cross response that I should have turned the mattress every two weeks and I have wrecked it because of this. I had to have help from two other people to turn the mattress every time. The lady in the shop recommended the mattress and she knew about my condition. The shop told me someone would investigate the mattress in a couple of weeks time and I am left suffering. does anyone have any help as too what I should do next? The base was guaranteed for 10 years and the mattress 5 years. I was not told that the mattress was to be turned every 2 weeks and it is a heavy beast I could not physically do this. I am gutted and severely disappointed with this firms attitude.

I would need more information about the type of bed, the quality of the mattress and the base. I have a serious back chronic complaint and me King Koil never lets me down. The mattress gets turned when someone comes to visit who can help me. Before I can make judgement I need to know what type of bed and mattress you bought.

Best of luck. I had problem with 2nd rate fitted wardrobes. Not told at time that it was not wood. It is actually cheap planks with a plastic film all over. This is now peeling. I had same very bad service when ringing, very ignorant woman. Was a few months out of guarantee. She said "why have you rung if you know guarantee out of date". Was not cheap and would not have bought if known how it was made. We are pensioners and did not expect to have to renew or live with rubbish, it will be difficult to afford to replace. Cannot understand problems with beds as there were photos in store of vono beds which was a very old and well known bed manufacturer. Their customer service is the worst I have encountered, you cannot get past the bad mannered woman. On checking reviews I found we are ones of very many others who have had trouble with company and that woman. They give answers to complaints with possible solutions online but that flies out of the window when speaking with that woman.

I remember my daughter going to Starplan for a new bedroom about three years ago and they offered a 10 year guarantee then. Not too sure how long it was going before that.

Hi, I'm sure Starplan gave us an ultimatum before the fitting date that the entire room needed to be clear. In practive this is probably not required, but unless you do what they ask they will probably say they can't fit your furniture due to access and will leave your home with nothing being fitted.

Our Fitting teams are highly experienced and are instructed to treat your home and furnishings with respect. To avoid any possibility of damage to your property and provide the fitter with a safe working environment we request that the room where the furniture is to be fitted is completely emptied of your personal belongings, room dressings and furniture. Although every possible care is taken, due to the close fitting nature of fitted furniture some markings on walls, floorboards and ceilings may occur. The room is therefore best decorated after installation takes place.
