The price match tool on their website is not to be trusted!

I found a Morso Squirrel 1412 stove cheaper elsewhere but while searching for the best price I came across the website for Morso Stove Specialist. As they promised to price match + £10 I entered the details of the competitor on this website (on a Saturday evening). It accepted the details I entered and amended the price and allowed me to continue to the checkout with the amended price. I entered payment and delivery details and submitted the order. I then received an email confirming the order (all fine so far).

On the Monday I received an email and phone call to say that they were not able to match the price that I had found elsewhere. No reasons were given. The other seller is authorised to sell these stoves and it is a like-for-like comparison so I can see no reason for backing out of the deal, other than their promise is worthless! Certainly don't trust their online tool!

The worst part of it is that they have taken the money from our credit card! This will be refunded within 14 days but that isn't the point. If they can't honour their promise then they should not provide this online option and should not allow customers to be taken through to the checkout without confirming whether they can.

I am considering referring this to trading standards.
