Poor Quality And Customer Service

We purchased our Massimo glass dining table only 8 years ago for £1400+ and have been left extremely disappointed by the quality of the product and the after sales care we have received from the company. Given the price we paid I would not have expected difficulties at this stage, but one of the levers which controls the extending arms is inoperable and we are now unable to extend the table at one end. I think I can count on one hand the number of times we have actually had to extend the table over the years so I cannot believe it is of such poor quality. However speaking to their customer aftercare service I have been told the table is no longer in production in Italy and there is nothing they can do. This is a word of caution and something to think about when making a purchase and if in the future you need a repair or part.

They have equally been very dismissive and not helpful in trying to resolve the problem and despite asking to be able to discuss my concerns with the owner to date the owner has not contacted me and the after sales person has ignored my emails and not bothered to contact me or to follow up.

My advice would be to think very carefully about the item you are purchasing, how it is made and what materials are used, what aftercare they are able to offer especially if their supplier in Italy stops making the product and to ask how they might undertake a repair if the item is discontinued. One would have expected a dinning table at this kind of price to have lasted more than eight years and for the company to have a better after sales approach but can’t help they don’t really care having got your money. Personally I would not purchase something again from a company that specialises in items from Italy it does make it difficult if they stop production or your item needs repair - the company does not offer a repair service.

Shockingly Bad Customer Service

I recently purchased a Bolt dining table for over £2,200. I had been looking for an unusual table and was thrilled to find this one. Unfortunately delivery took longer than expected and when I chased it they said it was ready - they had just forgotten to tell me!! Unfortunately we don't have that many dinner parties but over Christmas I noticed a few times that glasses wobbled or actually fell over when placed on certain areas of the table. I contacted Amode & received a reply suggesting that I buy glasses with a wider base - to say I was shocked was an understatement!!! I called and asked to speak to the manager but he wouldn't speak to me, he hid behind a shop assistant & would not allow her to give me his name!! He has now written to me again saying that I signed the delivery note and it's too late to complain.

Had he at least been polite I'm sure we could have resolved the situation like adults however he obviously hopes that he can intimidate customers into not taking acti

Make Up Your Own Mind, Dort Be A Follower!

I was unsure after reading some negative reviews. Then I thought about what was written a didn't focus onto the fact that it's a negative one but on the issue itself. Then I felt the review was unreasonable as the same problems could happen at any shop and as they were on the producers side...if a piece is damaged, it's unfortunate, but you can't expect it to be replaced the next day as it has to be reproduced. I'd be annoyed too but it's not the shops fault.

So, after reading those reviews I went to the shop and told the manager my concerns, we talked about it and I got a good feeling about him and the shop! And I'm glad I did!

I ordered 8 chairs and 2 commodes. The chairs are even much much nicer than imagined as I saw them in another colour. The commodes are very nice, expected them to feel more robust for the price. But would still buy them again as the are good quality. There are some small imperfections on their fronts, nothing to panic about. But today, I got a call from a girl that they would replace them or give me some credit...very customer oriented!

Delivery was delayed but that's life! Delivery itself was great, nice guys, even took of their shoes off without me asking!

All in all, forget the reviews, go there, address your concerns and decide!!!!

There are people who are very hard to please and find it hard to be reasonable!

Unfortunately my experience has changed too!

The chairs I bought for £340 each (x8) are sagging, ripping... terrible! They refuse to do anything!

Marc, the manager, is a rip off and a coward.

We are going to sue him!

I wish I had received the same customer service - or any level of customer service at all!! I bought a dining table for over £2000. I waited well over 12 weeks, called to chase it and was told it was ready but they had forgotten to call me!! The table has an undulating surface which cause a glass to fall over in a couple of places. Amode say it's natural wood so cannot be flat!!! The store manager won't even speak to me, won't give me his surname & hides behind the poor shop assistant.

A Great Experience With Amode!

I'm very delighted with my new sofa, coffee table and cushions. Could not be happier with the entire experience from coming in to the showroom and the nice delivery guys who really are friendly and helpful – a rarity from my experience with delivery drivers. Well done, and I have already recommended you to my daughter.

Avoid!

Very similar experience to holwol.

Purchased a Mix TV unit in March 2013, delivered as expected in May. Then the problems started. We noticed the drop down door and bottom drawer did not line up from the side. Closer inspection showed the wood on the top of the unit and the drop down door are both bowed. Contacted Amode to ask what the solution is...

First argument - it can be adjusted! They even offered to come out but wanted to charge us £50! But clearly you cannot adjust warped wood... We battled on.

Second argument - we had signed the delivery note saying it was in good condition so nothing they could do. We explained this is against the Sale of Goods Act 1979...

Third argument - (after more obtuse emails from them) this is normal tolerance for the unit so it is not faulty! The quality and finish are not worthy of flat pack furniture let alone their website description of being an "extremely high quality piece."

Even after writing to the manager (Mark) threatening court action, somebody else replied saying that following "thorough discussion" of the matter they would do nothing about it.

We threatened court action to recover our money and this is what we have now had to resort to (claim issued today).

My opinion of Amode - poor quality products and some of the worst customer service I have experienced in a very long time. If I could give them no stars, I would.

I Would Not Recommend Amode To Anyone

I would not recommend Amode to anyone for several reasons; poor communication with clients, poor customer service and very poor standard of product.

I purchased a mix TV unit in blue India from Amode in February. As informed it took 8 weeks to arrive. My husband signed the delivery documents but once the delivery personal had left he noticed a small patch where the lacquer was missing. We immediately contacted Amode to inform them of the problem. They told us that we had signed to say there was no damage on delivery and that we should have received a small bottle of lacquer to touch up areas of damage. I said I was happy to try this but if the unit still looked damaged I wanted a replacement.

The lacquer for touching up the area of damage took 4 weeks to arrive and I had to contact Amode numerous times to chase this. When I attempted to touch up the damaged area the lacquer did not match the colour of the unit. We contacted Amode to inform them of the problem and they said that they could offer a replacement door but we would have to pay for delivery and fitting at a cost of £80. Given that it is a brand new unit that was faulty we were not happy to spend this money. We wrote a formal letter of complaint to Amode but they continued to only offer to replace it at our cost.

On closer inspection of the unit there were several areas where the lacquer is chipping away and this has continued to happen despite being extremely careful with the unit (e.g. dusting with a soft cloth, making sure we don't put anything on the unit that could scratch it). Every few days we continue to notice small white flecks on the unit where the lacquer is coming away.

Amode's response to us was that because the delivery note was signed to say the goods had been received they were no longer responsible for the quality of their product. However the 'Sales of Goods Act' states: "Goods you buy should always be in a satisfactory condition, defect free and fit for the purpose they were intended when you receive them." Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979, "you are entitled to return and get a refund if items do not meet the basic criteria stated above. You do not have to accept a credit note or gift voucher instead of a full refund".

Amode does not comply with these regulations and do not value their clients.

I Have Just Had My Dining Table Delivered, And I A

I have just had my dining table delivered, and I am thrilled. Yes, it is slightly more expensive that if you were to buy from somewhere like Habitat, but it is Italian and i havn't seen anything like this table on the high street that extends the way my dining table does.

I Had Been Searching For A Year For A Blue Glossy

I had been searching for a year for a blue glossy sideboard, and searched at all the usual places like habitat and heals and couldn't find anything. I found Amode online and immediately found 2 sideboards that I was interested in. I went to the store and found the same sideboard that I had seen online, and I immediatley was impressed by the quality and the fact that they had it in not one, but two shades to blue! I ordered it then and there, and delivery took around 8 weeks as they had quoted. The delivery guys were excellent, I just sat on my sofa while they unpacked and set everything up, and they took away all the cardboard and rubbish with them. Now to the sideboard: it looks fantastic, I haven't seen anything like it before or since, and it is the envy of all my friend and family. Would recommend to anyone.
