I have been with localphone for years, but service has gone deep into the the Arctic ocean. Customer service is the worst in the industry. You will get wrong error message of "You currently do not have sufficient credit" even when you have plenty of credit. IT IS A RIPOFF! STAY AWAY FROM THEM

I have been with them for 6 years and thru a suggestion of their customer service I recharged my account and the product was not delivered! Thus, I requested for a refund due servIce not given and they told me even then I have to pay an admin fee for refund of my money which I recharged moments ago nor was i informed about the admin fee before hand! After 6 YeArs of loyalty this is what i get!

when I started it looked good but over tge past 2-3 years conncetoivity is unpredictable and calls get cut off halfway and this happens regularly. When a complaint is made nothing much happens.they apologise, do a few pennies refund and its all back to square one

Oh they accept paypal, great! wrong they declined my verified paypal of over 10 years!, ok so i`ll pay by visa, wrong! declined! (even tho it went through fine verified by clickbank), ok maybe mastercard wrong!... wont even let me, as now they wont accept ANY payment until i provide a scan of passport or driving license + they want a scan of a utility bill! Nowhere on the sign up screens did i see any literature requiring nazi paperwork. Its been a few days now and its alot of hassle to even add some credit. Definitely not friendly to new customers. I have used voip before, but the dialer software they give is very basic, it doesnt install properly if u select just install for me on pc win 7. It wants you to install as "for everyone" I installed for everyone loads up, and is the most basic dialler you can hope for, there is no facilities to test your microphone at all, they dialpad makes no phone sounds when dialing giving an eerie silence. I was planning to get an incoming number for the service, but the pc dialer software has no options to have a custom ringtone or anything. Another problem which i found annoying is that the pc dialer refuses to store login details even tho there is a check-mark box titled "remember login information", so every time u want to use it you have to manually type your e-mail address and password which is tedious. i managed to try the free 5 min call offer, dialed my dad on his mobile, was very affordable at £0.01.5 per min, which is a good rate actually. The sound quality was ok mediocre. Anyways so now this company seems to want me to buy a scanner which cost about £40 to make a 1 penny call. ITS VERY FRUSTRATING. They should mention on signup that they require scanned copy of passport/driving licence+ utility bill. The site is deceiving.

This is absolutely the worst telephone service I have used. The connections are very often not made, but are very consistently charged to your account. Take your business elsewhere.

I have been using voip for ages, since 2004, and so far I had never encountered such an unbelievable operator. I needed a callback service to place calls when I'm abroad. Ok, their rates are not top notch but they offer this callback so I decided to give it a try. I registered and put 5 euros into the account. That was the biggest mistake! The system does not work. Even the instruction voices played when you call are not proper english, they simply are pidgin english. I tried to call them and was impossible to explain, so I opened different tickets and not even one was solved. They don't seem to read or understand the meaning of what you write. So now I cannot use the callback and have already requested two times a full refund, but to no avail. Stay away from them, don't throw your money into the bin.

Poor customer service cheats by providing wrong information. In my case they advertised that UK 200 plan supports all UK mobile providers but they actually do not provide that service.

I tried this service because of its super low prices on calls from swiss to german cell phone. It's a waste of money! There was a delay of `2s, the voice was breaking up and it was impossible to hold a conversation. I wasted 6EUR that I uploaded on my account.

I'd rate 0 star if it were available. Localphone is cheap; not just the rate, but also EVERY other way. I ran into series of technical problems. Localphone tech support gave me whole lot of runarounds; including reconfiguring firewall, extra access code, ..., NONE of which worked. After two weeks of back and forths, I was notified of account closure and balance refund. More than a week into the waiting, there was no trace of refund. I contacted Localphone rep again. Guess what? Accordingly to their "policy", they don't refund after certain number of days of account balance refill. What option do I have? Keep enduring their technical problems? No, even worse. They didn't even reinstate account. Where is my remaining balance? Localphone employee year-end bonus? Apparently I was not alone. Various other reviews also point to the identical problems: cancelling customer account after unsolvable problems, AND, shamelessly stealing customers' remaining balance. Stay away from this irresponsible company. There are other more responsible providers.

Exactly what happens to ME ...They seem to be able to CANCEL your account at will , as soon as you complain !!!!
Then I had an "obnoxious person , whom advise me that was the end , and find another operator ,,, What about my REFUND !!!!
There has to be a body in the UK who look after the consumers and redress , these "bunch of rubbish" namely Lacalphone !!!!

At first I thought this company was good, with cheap rates and plenty of facilities available. Now I have learned that you should not trust this company if you want a service that you can rely on. I purchased two “incoming numbers” from this company which were very useful, but then the company stopped connecting calls to these numbers. Then I couldn’t use my credit to make outgoing calls. Without warning it withheld service which was a real pain. But it still continued to take money for my incoming numbers. After lots of attempts to contact the company it claimed that it had withheld my service for “security reasons” – pathetic excuse. This was a prepaid account and my balance was less than £10. What security risk? Now I have had hassle trying to get my money back, so I have referred the case to the Small Claims Court. Avoid this company if you want a phone service that you can rely on.

All voip providers I have seen charge you for dialled numbers, not for call duration. If the call goes unanswered you still have to pay.
It is the way with these cheap services and how they keep thier call costs low.

Localphone is indeed the worst ever, very bad customer support ( never exist! ), Call is drop 50% of the time. You can hear lots of statics in voice call. I recently switch to Airetalk ( iphone and Android App) , the rate is way cheaper than Localphone, and the quality is great. Support is good too.

Their website is down all the time. Whenever I log on to refill or other stuff.. there is something wrong with the processing.It takes awfully long time to process payments and the sound clarity is not good.I can hear my echo and it messes up the whole conversation,. Would definitely not recommend!

LOCALPHONE-DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Been with this company for a couple of months now. Absolutely terrible. I sometimes have to call 20 times to get through using their so called local number. I can't hear a dialling tone even though the person I'm trying to call has their phone ringing. This is very frustrating as they keep getting up to answer and are met with a silent call when they lift the receiver. This has never happened to me with years of using Skype but all the time with Localphone. And their app as it doesn't work at all, either over 3g or Wi-Fi. I’m stuck with almost £20 on my account at the moment but I'll never add credit to my account again if I can ever get what I have at the minute used up as their system doesn't work and is totally unreliable. They won’t even answer emails. My advice to anybody thinking of using these chancers is don’t. Use Skype or somebody similar.

Difficult to know whether localphone is a scam or is totally inefficient - it can work but usually it doesn't, and the help line doesn't reply. There are many other ways of making inexpensive calls, do avoid localphone.

I need to change my email address in the portal as my oild e-mail is no longer active. Tried so many times with old email, new email & current password. It is not getting updated in local phone system. I contacted support.. There started trouble.. No help what so ever.

They wanted me to send them scans of passport, driving licence utility bill + thru e-mail! DO NOT SEND IMPORTANT identity papers via unencrypted e-mail, e-mail is as private as a billboard, by sending such important documents you are opening the doors to fraud on yourself, its irresponsible companies like this that are creating future fraud from sensitive documents via e-mail that could end up in the wrong hands
