My Wife Came To Me (before She Was My Wife) And As
My Wife came to me (before she was my wife) and asked me what i would like as a wedding present off her for our upcoming nuptuals, (it was roughly a year before we got married) so after some tough decision making i decided i would ask for something i had always wanted, which was the Tag Heuer Indy 500 Watch, she then went out and purchased the watch, which i got to see before she put it away for the wedding, a really nice sporty looking number with lots of fancy dials and the like, anyways a year flew past and on the morning of the wedding, my brother in law gave me the watch and said that my wife to be would like me to wear this at the wedding, first i opened the box, and took the watch out of the box, and started to read the well documented instuction manual for the watch, how to set the time, date, and use the chronograph functions, as well as being congratulated by tag for choosing a tag time piece. The afternoon of the wedding came and i of course had to oblige in wearing my new tag, which i did feeling proud as punch to make my beautiful lady become my beautiful wife, in a nice tailor made suit, with a tag watch on my wrist, and all went well untill the following afternoon when i was swimming in the hotel pool, (as we got married abroad) approximately 24 hours after taking my tag watch out of the box it DIED, DEAD, gone, it just stopped working full stop.so to cut the part about the actual watch, a thousand pound watch that lasts 25 hours! (Please read on for the review on Tag Service!!)lol.
Upon returning to the UK we took the watch back to the retailler it was purchased from, they told us there was nothing they could do until they had sent it back to tag to have it analysed to see if the damage was caused by our (my) own fault.
So a little miffed as to why they would not just replace the watch i picked my self up and walked out of the shop with broke tag in hand.
I got home and decided i would go direct to tag myself and see if they would help, we sent the watch in via royal mail special delivery in mid October, and were told it would take three days for them to annalyze the watch to find the fault,(if you read the manual they also state that if the crown is not screwed down properly the warranty no longer applies) so after three days we rang back tag and asked what was found, we were told we were not at fault, and the watch would be repaired under warranty free of charge, so at this point i stated that the watch had been used for 25 hours total and i think that i should get a replacement instead of a repair, at which time the operator panicked a little and said she would have to speak to her manager to authorise that, and would call back tomorrow, which in fairness he did, however after speaking to his service engineer, he has now found out that some how i was to blame for the fault with the watch, and was told that they would repair the watch as a "good will" gesture,i argued the point that i had fully read the instruction manual, that all guidelines were followed with the watch, and he just kept stating that you can't argue with the engineer, these guys have been working on these watches for years, and have seen all sorts of damage and know where the water was likely to have entered, after arguing the toss for over an hour, i could see i was only getting it fixed and no replacement. So after waiting six weeks and getting a little impatient, i decided to call again and see where my watch was, i was told i would get a call back to inform me of the progress, no call back that day so by 3 the next day, i called back and was told they were just about to call me, and the engineer had decided to replace the crown and all the water seals on the watch, and these parts had to come in from Switzerland, and here i am still waiting.
