“Worst Management Ever”

Applied for a role in Sales at the Heston branch. Got an invite to recruitment evening, it was a long way away but my girlfriend got me an Uber as she was worried about delays on the Elisabeth Line. Arrived @ 18.20 at reception was directed to the same area where all the rest, invited were waiting, @ 18.30 we were taken to one of their meeting rooms that could sit up to 50 ppl, I believe we were 45 ppl, presentation started by sales manager for Heston and sales manager for Kingston. They went around each table asking us to introduce ourselves. Then they gave us a 5 min break after which the two managers came in holding paper cups, which they randomly placed in front of a few a each table, those with cups in front of them were instructed to leave the room for the room next door. Then both the annoying managers came back to us saying very brutally that we didn’t quite make the cut so we’re free to go home. I’m speechless at the way the entire recruitment evening was conducted, it was bloody awful. The two sales managers need to be trained in human relations as they behaved like robots, without a shred or an ounce of empathy. Bottom line is do not ever apply for a role in sales with David Lloyd because you would be treated like sales, just another number!!!

“Thanking a staff member ”

Hello I would like to say a massive thanks to the representative, it’s always a pleasure to see her in the spa, constantly busy keeping the place organise when on shift. She shows great leadership skill and has a very fair mind set when dealing with minor issues in the spa/pool area. Thanks you make David Lloyd Heston a nice place to visit .

“Hygiene Concerns”

I registered for a Diamond membership with David Lloyd's and was told that I had 14 days to cancel for free. However, my experience there was nothing short of distressing. On our very first day, we encountered an uncomfortable situation where male patrons were behaving inappropriately, making lewd advances towards women. To our shock, we discovered that two other women were discussing the same issue. This kind of sexual harassment is completely unacceptable. We decided to leave immediately and canceled our membership on the very same day. The receptionist informed us that other women had also decided to leave due to similar reasons, which raised serious concerns about the spa's safety. Additionally, there were hygiene issues as well, with people spitting in the ice that was meant for use after the sauna. This is not only unsanitary but also poses health risks. I reached out to David Lloyd's via email, and they canceled my membership as requested, charging me only for the day I used their services. However, to my astonishment, a month later, they charged my bank card £150 without any prior notice or explanation. This is a clear case of deceptive practices and fraud. Despite my attempts to contact them, no one responded to my emails, and the phone calls went unanswered. It's deeply disappointing and unprofessional for a business to ignore customer concerns and engage in such practices. I have taken the necessary steps to have my bank refund the unauthorized charges. My advice to anyone considering David Lloyd's is simple: Do not go there. Your safety, well-being, and financial security should always be a top priority, and this establishment does not seem to value any of those things.

“Great when signing up, but ignored once they have your...”

It is with great regret I am having to write this negative review. There are many great things about the club and staff effort to ensure you are looked after especially when you are signing up is second to none. Unfortunately the same cannot be said with regards to the aftercare. I have been trying to amend my family platinum account for over a month now as myself and my family are unable to make it to the club on time. We were turned away at 20:30 as the staff stated they needed 30 mins cleaning time in order to close at 21:00. Multiple messages left at the Heston club membership voice message and all have been ignored. All emails are responded in the first instance with a question but never then followed up.- This has caused the biggest issue as membership team "do not take calls during Covid". Head Office are particularly apologetic but seem to be ineffective. I was told last week they would contact the General Manager at Heston to return my ignored calls. I have called Heston every day only to be told the General Manager is in a meeting or she is not on site. It has been over a month of calls, messages, apologies and I still have not spoken to the correct department. If you want added stress to your life you know what to do!

NO SOCIAL DISTANCING AT DAVID LLOYD HESTON! Members are constantly hugging and gathering in large groups. Equipment has NOT been spaced 2m apart. In the spin room the cycles are less than 1m apart. Have reported to management who refuse to do anything. Please don’t join this club if you value your health and/or those around you! This club is a disgrace and will hopefully be shut down soon!

“David Lloyd’s Heston contracts need reviewing ”

I have had a membership with David Lloyd’s in Heston for 2 - 3 yrs now and had my 2 children under the same membership as under18. As soon as one child became over 18, they were tied in a new separate contract and extra money for that is taken out from my account. The membership is not being used much as child is at uni, therefore got in touch soon as the new contract started and explained the situation as did not wish to pay £150 approx a month for something that is not used. Concerns were not dealt with in a timely manner and doesn’t seem like a clear formal complaints process for customer feedback and improvement is followed or that anyone cares. Rolling contacts need to be received as customers get tied in for 12 months and it is extremely hard to get out and have any refund from them out of courtesy, or as an outcome of a complaint. No compassion or empathy. All is okay until you have a problem which should be seen as an opportunity to make the club better. Heston David LLoyds is very unhygienic even after the publicity and seeing it for myself were a customer had left faeces in the swimming area and the same naked man seen in that area. Not good for anyone to see and especially Holstein. It was disgusting. I still continued my membership and wish I had not now. I would not recommend David Lloyd’s especially Heston branch - go somewhere else where you have flexibility and customers are looked after and listened to. Also save loads as expensive here - they keep putting prices up with no improvements made. Appalling!!!

“Poor Customer Service ”

I have worked in customer service for over 4 years. And I have never experienced such bad customer service from this branch in particular. I wanted to cancel my contact for the last 6 months; sent emails, phone calls, spoken to managers and over 10 members of staff who claim. They will get back to you. They never give you a straight answer and always say we will get back to you. The David Lloyds scheme is just to make money off you. 3 months of payment before you can leave? Which is fair enough but connoting me for 6+ months membership is disgusting. I would assume all the branches operate the same way. I would highly recommend for no-one to use their services as they are an complete joke.

“Indifferent staff”

This branch has to be the worst I have frequented and its down to totally disinterested staff - I am paying £180 per month for a couple but we were charged right at the end with an extra £40 each admin charges when all of our details were on their system from four years back and they did not ask for any proof of address or anything so what were we charged £80 for? 2 plastic cards and to input our details onto a screen? I informed them my partner was on holiday for two weeks and I was told no problem by the girl who got me to sign the contract with the manager alongside her . However every time I go in I can't just swipe and go in and then when I go to the desk I am told we have to let you in as the contract is not signed!! I am a vantage customer but never offered a towel- you have to ask. The staff just seem disinterested and never smile. They just appear surly. I ordered poached egg with soldiers for my little one but it arrived as whole pieces of toast. The sitting down bar area is already looking dopey and you can't relax there because of the way they have placed the sofas and chairs so that everyone has to go through you yo get to the gym,classes and courts. The whole atmosphere is terrible. If I could I would leave but they tie you in and make you pay through the nose. This branch really needs a change of staff and new bright motivated smiley management to make the experience more pleasant.

“Empty Building ”

The club used to be a full of members but now days all activities gone down badly especially tennis. There are no more tennis for children, adult social club and the tennis league is gone since the new manager took place. There are no more fun and I would not recommend to anyone to join this club .

“Un safe at night - not a pleasant experience”

I frequent the club as its close to my home which during the day is well managed but in the evenings it is awful. Locker rooms have chatter on incidents from car break-ins, members lockers being raided and even so far as recent robberies. The culture of the club is developed by the management and the control. Disabled parking is a joke as they clearly don't care and young kids in their sport cars blatently park. Its not pleasant and even though theirs new management they cant get a grip. Stick to Hampton or Sudbury if you want a pleasant experience.

“Bad new management ”

I have been a member of this club for many years and me and the members all enjoyed the facilities like tennis. However the new manager destroyed the friendly atmosphere and our tennis league automatically collapsed. All the key tennis players and organisers have left the club due to the poor management and the club has gone down so badly that it will not sustain in the long term. He promotes himself more than the club. And I would strongly NOT recommend it to anyone to join this club.

“Horrible everything”

At the time to join to the gym they are very quick to do all the procedures, however if you want to leave the gym you still have to pay for 3 months...impossible to get rid of it. After one month they still calling you saying that you are a defaulter!!! It is so expensive!! and the facilities is does not worth this price!! the classes and monitors are not to go. A lot of classes cancelled and no one to replace it. Very disappointed. The swimming pool was dirty all year around. the water was no clear.

I have been a member for a long time but recently had a issue which we tried to resolve instead i was told i behaved in an inappropriate manner and the matter was not even investigated.. I am very dissaponted specially when management tells you they dont need customers as they are a big brand name...cant believe the terrible customer service.. Will not be going back there ever..the manager on site seemed to have very less customer ethics and i am suprised a big gym like that has left him incharge... Very upseting expeirience for me... And so much for loyalty.

“horrible customer service never mind the prices...”

took 30 minutes to get through to receptionist which put me on hold for 10 minutes and then disconnected... all I was asking is to make a booking for tennis court. I am a member of the club and regularly book tennis court over the phone. The men at reception who answered the call was to say the list unprofessional. Was trying to explain to me something he did not know the meaning of himself. in the end put me on hold and disconnect. When I rang 2nd time asking to speak to his manager ... surprise manager is not available, when asked his name was told "listen listen listen" and then he disconnected the call. Welcome to David Lloyd Heston reception.

“Poor customer service”

I have been David lloyd heston club member from approximately two years never faced any problems just refurbished everything is awesome. But the staff is pathetic i use cafe most of the time for the meal after workout, today before starting my workout i asked cafe staff what time kitchen is closing he replied " Around quarter to nine" then in the middle of the workout i went to order some takeaway at 20:46 he said the kitchen is closed and i can't take any order I requested him but he was strict like a military man. I decided to talk with manager about this and manager gave me the excuse "that if you go to any other restaurants or bars you one minute late they don't take any orders" I realised that so called manager don't have manager skills, it's a club and you should respect your members it's not any public place where you serving public. I am an Asian and most of the members in david lloyd heston are Asians and I realised that the staff has bias behaviour. Ghanendra

“Poor maintenace”

I am very concerned that the premier club within DL and the history is going down hill simply due to poor operational management and maintenance. Similar to the other reviews - Poor maintenance : lockers broken, shower heads and hand dryers - Management do not listen - Cleaners do not speak English so when theres a problem they cant help The club could improve through management training and investment.

“"Ill get someone to call you back" - David Lloyd Heston”

No one ever calls back! They charged me twice for my mumbership on 01/08/2013, its now the 19/08/2013 and im still waiting for a refund. The memberships are over priced for the facilities they offer. Ive been on the phone to them 4 times already, each time someone said that they will get the membership department to call me back. The staff are friendly towards their customers BUT that is the only positive to take from the experience. The front desk is freindly but their overall customer service is appauling. I would recommend this gym to NOBODY. Go to Virgin Active in Stockley Park, cheaper with the more facilities and the customer service is A LOT better.

“David Lloyd Heston - poolside is like a holiday from hell”

David Lloyd Heston is an appalling branch of the otherwise very popular and industry leading health group David Lloyd. Rumour has it that due to it's geographical location, certain aspects of its maintenance policy go deliberately ignored. Senior management are faceless and hide behind the reception staff, who are friendly, helpful and strangely enough all fit and attractive young females. Don't be fooled by the new investment of wannabe posh faux chairs in the bar area of the David Lloyd Heston and pub style carpet they claim to have invested in recently. This is a branch of David Lloyd that is not managed nor maintained. The canteen chairs are arranged in such a deliberate fashion to entice you to buy a cake or a cup of coffee, making the walk to the changing room dodging the non behaved children running around throwing their food everywhere and at everyone a mission. The plastic surgery posters and David Lloyd TV selected advertisers seem to be promoting plastic surgery and Botox style products and when questioned by Management, Head of Marketing for David Lloyd seems to think the commissions are well worth the subliminal messaging on all of their screens when trying to exercise and maintain one's health the correct and natural way. Head of Digital Marketing David Lloyd? This is my experience of David Lloyd Heston membership from May 2011 to November 2011: * Sauna always too hot. * Steam room, light bulbs out, smelly (floor doesn't get cleaned enough), tiles broken on seating area. * Poolside drinks machine always out of order with plug dangling on the floor. * Main indoor swimming pool always cloudy - the chlorine cleaning system reacts in this manner reacting to children constantly urinating in it, use the outside pool. * Outside pool access an issue, door locks you out and lifeguards never there or chatting to their mates in the pool. * Changing room mirror bulbs intermittent with usage of hair dryers - dodgy electrics * Shower heads missing - I think the poorer members must steal them. * Lockers filthy inside and panel trims broken. * Gym equipment - not bad, if a machine is broken, it doesn't get fixed for ages * Member relations never return emails, calls, colleagues' messages and always out of the office. * Useless management structure of this David Lloyd branch mean that other members of sales and reception staff adopt the senior management style of
