MNM Ceylon Gems & Jewels (Hatton Garden) / Diamond collection

I have now used this jeweller twice and can't recommend him too highly. I certainly don't recognise any of the remarks made in the bad review and would urge people to ignore it. The first time we used them was when we were looking for slightly different diamond earrings for our daughter's significant birthday and were put off by other traders urging us to use them. MNM never once tried to encourage us to buy "bigger and better" and in fact we were the ones to push the size and quality of diamonds up. They were extremely patient with us and we ended up with earrings that everyone was delighted with. Since then we have been back to choose a sapphire and diamond ring for me for our Golden Wedding - something I have wanted for years. Our daughter came with us (after all she is going to inherit it so we wanted something that she would be happy with as well!)and we did our homework first, visiting various places before being drawn back once again to MNM. After seeing different sapphires, both natural and heated, we chose a glorious rich coloured sapphire and then the diamonds to go with it, having designed the shape we wanted. It is glorious and MNM couldn't have been nicer people to deal with.

After trawling the main drag on Hatton Garden, looking at all kinds of shops; new, antique and emporium-style, we found MNM Ceylon Gems to be the very best. From the very first appointment we received the highest level of service and were made to feel very special. We decided to design our own ring as we had a very specific ring in mind (2ct diamond trilogy made to look antique-y). This was no problem for MNM Ceylon Gems - they were so helpful through each stage and the quality of diamonds is exceptional. All beautiful, certified stones and a ring made with the best craftmanship. If I were you I would absolutely ignore the negative review - this is the best there is and you will not find lovelier, more obliging people to deal with when choosing/designing your perfect ring. We will return to them when we buy our wedding bands later this year. Thank you MNM Ceylon Gems!

DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! Both my engagement ring and wedding ring fell apart after just a few months. They have refused a refund and tried to charge for repairs. They're nice as pie when it comes to buying from them but please do not expect your jewellery to last as it is very poorly made. We will be pursuing court action to get our money back. Please save yourselves hassle and avoid! Could not rate lower than 1 star or I would have!!

Very nice sales managers, very good quality of products

When looking for our wedding rings, we visited Hatton Garden which is the London jewellery quarter. After looking in several shops, which were all quite expensive, we found MNM Ceylon who have several 'stalls' within boutiques in Hatton Garden.

The one we visited was in 'Boutique 36' and was trading as 'Diamond collection'

The employees were excellent and tried very hard to please us. They were keen for the sale but not massively pushy. We found two perfect wedding rings, and after taking sizes, specification and a small holding deposit, they agreed to make the rings for us.

We went back a few weeks later and they had the rings all ready for us. They also engraved a message on the inside for free for us.

When we got home and compared the rings online, we found almost exact matches, but at double the price. I know it sounds too good to be true, but we checked the hallmark and it is the genuine article.

My only tips when dealing with this company are 1) they expect a bit of a haggle... so go for it! and 2) make sure that you are very specific about what you want and it gets written down. The 'order' is jotted down on an 'order book' with a piece of carbon paper in between and is a little primitive, so make sure they write down exactly what you want and they will get it right.

Excellent company, very friendly and did as we asked. I have mainly written this review so that other potential buyers are not put off buying from them because they are a little smaller than some of the other jewellers around.
