The 4000/3500 watt Champion a conventional engine-driven "true sine wave" alternator, NOT an "inverter-type." Inverter generators are popular for campground use with their "idling-down" capability under light loads, which results in somewhat lower noise levels. However inverters generally produce a very "dirty" synthesized "sine wave" which is loaded with "electronic noise."
