The whole process of purchasing my laptop was virtually painless, I ordered it online and paid for a two day delivery. I bought this Acer Laptop for my daughter, who will go to the university next year. The laptop is ideal for students with very good battery life and light weight to carry with and delivers what is mentioned on the tin. The product arrived fairly quickly. My daughter is very pleased. I bought the tablet from Simply Acer as the price was reasonable. It arrived on time. The instructions were a bit slim and it wasn’t clear (to me) about how to access the version of MS Office, so I emailed them and they quickly responded. So the service was good and the tablet is still working fine. I suppose the real test of a company is when things go wrong. But, so far, so good.

“Acer Aspire V3”

I love it, and it does everything I want, but there are two small niggles. First is I wish there was a warning light to tell the user if Caps Lock is on. The other is the Matshita DVD/CD player writer. While functioning correctly, it is locked to region 2, and this cannot be changed by any of the clever programs available. Trying to play a DVD produced in USA recently was impossible. To play it I had to borrow a friend's (HP) computer with a region free DVD drive, make a copy and then take the copy to play on my Acer. Information on what make of DVD/CD drive was fitted would have influenced my choice of machine.

Ordering was straightforward and although I was prepared to wait for delivery (I chose the free delivery option) the laptop arrived two days later. “Too much pre-loaded bloat.”

Wrong laptop in box (factory problem). Staff dealt with efficiently. Pre-installed McAfee was a real wind up. Constant irritation until uninstalled. Too much other pre-installed stuff taking up more disk space than total memory of my previous machine. Otherwise seems like a nice machine. Website description wrong; spec did not say Windows 7/8 but Win 7 only which is what I preferred.

“What's good about windows 8?”

Very quick (next day) delivery,so no problems there. Easy enough to set and and get going. Windows 8 is however another matter. Download (takes about an hour) 8.1 which did help matters. Miss very much Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop which we had on our previous computer, so downloaded OpenOffice and Gimp to substitute. Both these although working in similar ways do require a steep learning curve. We seem to be spending most of our time trying to get Windows 8 to emulate XP which we were perfectly happy with. Have to be brave and tough it out I guess. Windows media player also different to set up although have managed to achieve some success. The computer itself is good value for money and I would recommend it. The only problem I had was with miniature CDs as I had to put the Computer on its side to get them to work.

“Very efficient service”

Very good advice on phone. Local call but they also phoned back. Very fast delivery. Arrived within the 1 hour delivery slot they gave. Paid for the setup/testing service as well. The computer works well and some techy friends have confirmed its all OK but there is no way of me knowing whether Simply Acer did what was required. Maybe something for them to have a look at?

“Quick delivery and immediate fault replacement”

Ordered a new laptop from SA, it arrived next day, but with a loose part rattling inside. I was nervous about the return as I'd never dealt with them before. As a result, I tried to make it clear from the start that I wouldn't be fobbed off. The return label arrived very quickly and the return to arrival of replacement took on 3 working days (48 hours in effect.) So, not sure about the experience of others (I did check before buying) but my experience was positive.

“Price”

Our photo society decided to invest in a new laptop. I got the OK to buy an Acer at £429 but when placing the order some 10 hours later it had gone up £20. They refused to honour the old price so I had to go back to my committee for authorisation. Not good customer service and disapointed

Service was excellent - even though i opted for the free delivery it came the next day and the laptop is what i ordered and good as new except it keeps freezing and showing the blue screen of death. not sure if this is a fault of windows 8 or the laptop itself as i have looked it up online and the error is typical of all windows 8 users. however it regularly freezes with no warning so i have to turn it off and start again, even when i only have 1 program running

“Aspire desktop”

In 2012 I switched from Dell and bought an Acer laptop and am very pleased with it. So, when my Dell desktop looked as if it was going to expire after 7 years dependable service, I took a look at a replacement Acer from Simply Acer. I settled upon an XC600 and, although I have had it less than a week, so far so good. It is small, powerful and, with a good specification, was reasonably priced. Other than a small quibble about placing the order (an issue with the delivery address) and a hiccough over the next day delivery date - leading me to award four stars - the XC600 was mine. Setup was straightforward and I was up and running in good time. Although it is still only 7-10 days I am very pleased and would not hesitate in recommending both the product and the supplier.

As far as I can remember there was a small instruction booklet with the tablet, but it wasn't very detailed. However you can contact their after sales service. They were able to help me when I had a problem.

It probably depends on the model that is purchased. My purchase was an Acer Aspire Z3-615. It came with instruction pamphlets, rather than a booklet, giving guidance on setting the system up and the controls. Anything more needs to be down loaded after the system is up and running.
