Dodge The Purdy's At All Cost!

I too was conned by Neil and his dad. Within 5 years after the Brytahomes install I have locks failing. Avoid this family at all cost!

Fantastic Company

I found Mr Purdy, his workforce and his products exeptional. I have had them install twice now and my Family have also used them. We have never had any problems and would highly recommend them.

No Aftersales Service

I had all the windows,4 of them sash, plus another 4,a back door and french windows fitted by Purdey Windows in Sept.2010

I was originally happy with the work, despite a couple of scratches on the wooden floor, and the two men that did the actual work were good company, and seemed to know their stuff.

I settled the bill in entirety in Oct.2010.

I was told,on completion, that some of the doors or windows may take time to settle, and may need a slight re-adjustment in the future, and they did,and that's where the problems started.

Both the kitchen door and the french windows must have moved, however slightly, and there was a noticeable freezing wind coming through the gaps during the recent winter.

I phoned Mr. Purdey on his mobile no. and he said someone would be round to fix it.That was more months ago than I remember;since then I have made more than 50 phone calls, always getting the answering service, and sent an email,to avail.

So,I will have to pay someone to come in and do the adjustments, but more importantly, the 10 year guarantee I was given is worthless.I did point this out in my email to Mr.Purdey.Of course I have had no reply.

I wish I had discovered this site earlier,if it existed then,or one like it;I would certainly have chosen another one of the companies that gave me,very similar, quotes.

They have since relocated to ESSEX and changed their company name so for all those close to them. Beware!

I had the same thing happen.

Neil Purdey of Brytahomes fitted b grade handles which I insisted were replaced.

[Name removed], an old glazer who did odd jobs for them, was useless.

The two fitters used were very good.

The double glazing doors are awful. One mechanism no longer works and the other is very brittle.

10 year warranty is worthless - for all those out there shopping for windows - beware of [name removed] and Neil Purdey. Use anyone else. Only touch with a barge pole if it has a piece of rubbish in the end.

Don't Be Fooled By Purdy's Expressions Of Outrage And ....

The experience of the first reviewer is sadly, not isolated. Our window mechanisms also started failing after 5 years because Brytahomes supplied sub-standard locking handles with shanks that were too short by approximately 10mm. This meant that very little of the shanks were engaging with the locks, so failure was just a matter of time. We can only assume that Bryahomes bought a cheap batch of handles to palm off on unsuspecting customers, they were certainly not fit for purpose. In addition, one of our sealed window units was afflicted with condensation in the air space.

Repeated calls to Neil Purdy Windows were always answered by his wife who said that she would pass the message to her husband. We never received a call back from Purdy. Our windows were less than 6 years old at this time, well within Purdy's later, cynically reiterated, guarantee period.

After 3 months of leaving messages it became clear that Purdy wasn't going to honour his guarantee, so we got the repairs done via Evander who charged around £250. Despite extensive research they were unable to source the original handles so we now have a few windows with mismatched handles - not ideal, but the best that could be achieved.

Don't be fooled by Purdy's expressions of outrage and disbelief at the first review, our experience of his questionable business ethics speak for themselves.

£250 for a £3 handle..! I think the other company you mention has really had you over, not Purdy.!!!

Where Is The Snagging

Windows and new front door was fitted and paid for in full February 2012.

We have some snagging work to be done but after repeated phone calls, E Mails and promises are still waiting for this. It is now February 2013. If this work ever does get done I will be happy to comment again. J. Bassindale of London

I Strongly Advise Against Using Neil Purdey Window

I strongly advise against using Neil Purdey Windows. According to their literature they took up from BRYTAHOMES after the latter went bankrupt - I think I read they may be the same family. They circulated letters saying they were honouring Brytahomes' warranties. I have UPVC double glazing installed 5 years ago by Brytahomes, so when a window mechanism wore out and refused to close, I called Neil Purdey. He came over within days and although I was willing to pay, he said he would fix it for free and replace a few other handles to match, but he had to order the spare parts. A week or so later he claimed the spares were in and he would get back to me, but then nothing. Whenever I rang to try and arrange the repair, he and his colleagues either fobbed me off or refused to answer calls. For over 2 months I was given the run around - with an unsecured window the whole time. Finally I had to pay for a commercial repair which was difficult without the right spare parts, the men who repaired it trawled London for parts to fit, and had to cobble a repair together. So I later called Neil Purdey, acknowledging he would not do repairs, but asking where he acquired his spare parts so that I could get hold of them myself next time a handle mechanism broke, as several are loose. He refused to give me any contact details, and in fact spun a very different story about suppliers from when the spares were apparently 'on order'. So Neil Purdey Windows have failed to honour their warranty; failed to do the repair for me (even when I repeated my offer to pay them); and even refused to help me to do the repair myself! Based on my experience of their failure to honour warranties or do any maintenance, and the stream of lies I have been given, I can only advise that people avoid Neil Purdey Windows like the plague.

I too had him install a whole house worth of windows and doors in Coulsdon some 5 years ago and confirm that the quality of both the products and work carried out were well below industry standard. Rogue Traders have an episode or two to make on them. He was an all-promising salesman who initially gave you a feeling of competency but once they have half your money it all went down from there. Handles falling off (the odd-job has-been was useless), letter box has all but disintegrated, door locking mechanism (hardly used) is already broken. Window seals are well below b-grade. MY ADVICE: Avoid at all cost! Don't go near these guys... if you do have the misfortune then make sure you have a long stick to hand with a large piece of dog mess on the end - give them a poke from me!

I cannot believe I am reading and replying to this comment. Can I first say that Purdy Windows and Brytahomes are two totally different window companies, I supply high quality products that are installed to the very highest standards. I have Hundreds of customers that would be happy to tell you what a fantastic Company we are, and thousands of customers that would recommend me personally.

As for your Brytahomes handles!!!! Brytahomes was run by my Father who had been in business for nearly 40 years before he was hit hard by the credit crunch. He was so distraught when his Company went, he felt like he was letting his customers down, so for my Father I offered (I didnt have too!!) to try and honour all of his customers guarantees through my Company Purdy. I have dealt with over 80 service calls so far, all of which people have offered me money and I have turned them down because of a promise to my Dad. (does that sound like a bad person who doesn't care about people). I could of made over £1000 in call out charges alone!!!!

This has cost me alot of money but I have done it and broken the mould in the double glazing indusrty. I have countless letters commending me for my efforts and I work tirelesly to ensure my customers are happy and can have some peace of mind that there is someone around to look after them.

I am an extremely busy man, my Company is very busy installing quality windows and doors and I have NEVER had a complaint against me. I have installed Millions of Pounds worth of windows and doors to the public and I am proud of my awards, products and service.

If you have been let down for a couple of handles (which I can only assume must of been a communication error) then I am truly sorry, but how dare you question my work ethic and my Company when clearly you wrong. I am different to other Companies and pride myself on my service to the public.

I am saddened and shocked my this review.

If new customers wish to contact me and have a chat you are more than welcome and I am sorry this customer is so distraught and wishes to avoid my Company like the Plague!!!!!!!!!

I can assure you (as can thousands of others)I look after people and provide a service that is second to none.

Kind Regards,

Neil Purdy
