I have been going on ferretsforum for the past 24 months, on and off. After reading pages of wrong doings by the mods, I left it alone for a few months. Now I just dont read anything typed by them. I just skip their sections.

I was a member for two weeks but decided to not bother anymore.
There is a bunch that keep pouncing on anything that I typed on a thread.
One of them even called me somthing that I felt was very rude.
I am very happy being just me and my ferret :) I will leave the twittering old ladies to themselves :)

I am a member on fefo and it is true whats been written. It has suffered very badly over the past 12 months.
I hope it will be back to normal soon.

It can be very bad at editing posts. There also seems to be a very bad attitude towards personal opinion.

The new mod is really bad and for that reason I now go elsewhere to chat about ferrets.

Member for years and have had plenty of advice and support over the years. I was hoping that nastiness was a transient problem but it seems not and I have waited and waited but things are getting progressively worse. For me a forum should be a place for information and transfer to knowledge but the nastiness stops me posting now. Moderation is bias by some and none existant by others so its "safer" not to post anymore. Unfortunately too much quality has been lost and I am not sure it can be restored though I hope it can. I am hoping that Admin will realise that changes have to made.
Positives: long established forum, good number of members, high activity
Negatives: Loss of many knowledgable members, bias moderation leading to skewed advice

It's a shame as I had heard positive things about this forum for ferret owners. I have lurked, but wouldn't join! There are too many know-it-all on there. In a nutshell, I am too scared to join.

What has happened to fefo?
It is shocking the way people are being treated.
the ferret hutch is so much better, so I go there now to chat and get info. It is so much better!

I find it all a bit scary to be hoinest. I only posted a couple of times and was screamed at for mentioning something that another user did not like.
I some times look around, but never log on any more. Which is a shame.

The negative reviews that the hosts were forced to remove because of complaints by the moderators of Ferrets Forum and their friends were spot on. It was a good forum until about a year ago when new moderators took it over to further their own progression as 'experts'. They banned anyone who they regarded as having more expertise than themselves and their friends. This might have some credibility if one of their moderators hadn't started ranting about someone that they'd just banned, on the very forum itself. It's a shame that the minimum rating is 1 because thie forum deserves -10. There are plenty of other far better ferret forums out, if you want to meet decent people, just do a search.

This is an excellent forum if you are a friend of the clique. If not, it'd be best if you refrain from arguing with them, as you'll find your posts changed beyond recognition (this is the only forum I know that does this), deleted, or you'll be banned. The information presented to newbies varies. There are experienced owners on there that give sound advice, but there are others that haven't had ferrets 5 minutes that recycle old myths. Their status within the forum is no indicator as to which of these groups they're in. Proceed with extreme caution.

I agree with the above post.It used to be a fun and informative forum for ferret lovers. The information given to problems can be good but you have to trall through a lot of usless drivel first to find it.With moderators who think their either the gestapo or educators! who alter or remove posts that they dont like, they also ban people who are not in their clique. There are other much better forums just google ferrets but avoid ferret forum unless you enjoy drama.

Ferrets forum is good if you want to do some preliminary searches as a newbie (Norma's nip training in the FAQ is fantastic, and possibly the only thing worth going on the forum for) but I do not recommend joining as it's full of really annoying clucking hens. And anyway, if you find yourself in a serious predicament you ought to go to your vets, because all you'll get on this particular forum is a bunch of people who *think* they are as qualified as veterinarians giving their £0.02 not necessarily for the sake of ferrets but for some kind of personal gain that I haven't yet figured out. I'm only a lurker on there, so I'm not sure why there's so much hate between groups of people, but it's not that pleasant.
it's also really weird how they moderate peoples posts when they don't like what they're saying, and how they ban people and keep others. I'm not sure why some posts are so offensive, but they end up edited and then the poster is banned, but I guess I'm not cliquey enough to understand why. Also, they have a very black and white view about animal care (which is so obviously incredibly subjective to the owner and the animal), and some of the rescue owners are so narrow minded and intimidating it's a wonder they rehome any ferrets at all.
