I Was Disappointed By The Functionality And Design

I was disappointed by the functionality and design of this tool.

The channel in which the jigsaw baseplate slides is a few millimetres wider than the baseplate itself, thus it does not centre the jigsaw perfectly, and requires that the user pay additional attention during the cut (which is exactly what I thought the tool was designed to avoid). It is difficult to centre the workpiece, because one has to lower the clamp in order to ascertain the location of the centre and then raise it again to adjust and repeat.

Once the workpiece is centred, it's usually possible to hold the jigsaw against one of the sides of the guide to cut along the intended line and in this way, it is better than nothing, but certainly not as impressive as the marketing suggests. If little use is expected, consumers might consider improvising a guide using a strip of suitable wood (straight and sufficiently thick), securely clamped as needed.

Additionally, there are times when the jigsaw blade is able to make contact with the plastic of the Saw Station, causing superficial damage. The manual actually references this and states that this damage is not covered by the warranty, suggesting that the problem was well known to Bosch, but not considered worth adjusting the design for.

Finally, the configuration that allows bevel cuts is very limiting, allowing a length of just 10 cm for bevel cuts (this was insufficient for my needs, and given the difficulty of controlling my PST 800 PEL jigsaw during bevel cuts (the laser goes off track if the jigsaw isn't perfectly level with the workpeice), it would have been easier and more accurate to use a manually-operated compound mitre-saw.

I found this review very helpful because...Sean outlined a very serious shortcoming of the Saw table. The main reason I would be interested in one of these is to have the saw guided on the right track.
