The Tea Box In Richmond Is Quite A Novelty To Visi
The Tea Box in Richmond is quite a novelty to visit. I went with a friend for lunch and had no idea of what the food would be like (I had tried one of their sample teas once when they were handing them out around Richmond high street and that was pretty mice).
We sat down in the window at a rather odd looking table that was made of a brass tray resting on wooden legs and the decor is quaint with 1940's tea room music playing. I ordered the Morning Glory tea which is a blend of Indian black teas - apparently good for the afternoon - along with the eggs Benedict and a slice of their 24 carrot cake.
The tea was presented in a personal tea pot, a lovely old fashioned china tea cup and a tea timer. There was three different lengths to choose from, 5 minutes would result in strong tea so I went for that. The tea was lovely and the eggs Benedict perfect for a light lunch with a little Hollandaise sauce, a duck egg, wilted spinach and ham on a buttered toasted muffin. The cake came last and was moist although, for my taste anyway, a little bit lacking in the frosting department. but had a nice delicate taste with a fruit and ginger touch.
The Tea Box was a great place to relax and unwind at the end of a busy week ad I felt nice and refreshed. A great place to take a friend and have a good gossip. The staff were friendly and explained how to make our tea.
